    Very informative, and researched documentary. Dr. Rebecca put it together very well. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of the subject matter of the Ahlul Bayt, and gives a true representation of history on this matter. Even though I don't follow the Shia school, but a lover of the Ahlul Bayt, I agree with many things that was mentioned. Would love to see more of these types of videos.

    For Professor Kennedy to say at 28:54/49:10 that Husain ibn Ali was living in the safety of Madina, until he arrived in Iraq at the invitation of the people of Kufa, overlooks the fact that Husain left Madina for Mecca months before the Hajj season, for reasons that Yazeed ibn Muawiyyia had demanded allegiance from Husain at the pain of death. Letters from the people of Kufa arrived in Mecca, and not earlier in Madina. So Husain ibn Ali was not safe in Madina.
    Four persons were required to swear allegiance to Yazeed at the pain of death: Husain ibn Ali, Abdullah ibn Zobayr, Abdur Rahman ibn Abi Bakr and Abdullah ibn Omar. The first two refused - Abdullah ibn Zobayr left Madina to set up his headquarters in Mecca and raise an army. Abdur Rahman ibn Abi Bakr was too ill and died in his bed. Abdullah ibn Omar eagerly submitted. And Husain ibn Ali refused, and stayed in Mecca until the people of Kufa and Basra called for help to address issues of injustice and corruption. En route to Iraq, Husain ibn Ali was offered 20,000 armed men by Tirimmah ibn Adi - an offer he declined to accept, saying that his stand was not an insurrection to achieve power, but to guide the people and restore justice to the persecuted.

    After the death of the Prophet Mohamad pbuh, the conflict began between the house of the Prophet "Fatima Ali Hassan and Hussein" pbuh and others. Ahl al-Bayt wanted to preserve the message of Islam and adhere to the commandments of the Prophet, the only weapon that they have the Book of Allah and the commandments of the Messenger of Allah and their faith.
    The others wanted power in every sense of the word, They had money, weapons and power, and they were not interested in the Qura'an, Islam or the Prophet, but they used Islam to achieve their interests. Unfortunately, power and power prevailed over justice and right. But thanks to the martyrdom of the people of the house, Muhammadi's original Islam continued to this day. But the painful today is that the other side does not want to admit that mistakes have been made, and worst of all, that the facts are in their books but they insist on continuing their hypocrisy and accuse the Shiites of infidelity and out of Islam.
    Shiites today like Arius in Christianity "Arius was a Unitarian, he was believed in one God and Jesus as a prophet".

      Ahul al bayt are more clever and smarter then any human beside our Prophet Muhammed pbuh. If they wanted, they could of had bani ummah wiped off the face of the heart. The reason they didn't do that was a test for us to take example in them. The path of Allah is straightforward. The Ahul al bayt did not care for power and money. The cared for humanity to find Allah in thier example.

    Professor Sajjad Rizvi rightly explains the historical accounts written to uphold triumphalist and imperialist Muslim rule. Notwithstanding the fact that historians were in the main subservient to their imperial caliphs, there were some who had the intellectual courage to defend the stand taken by Husain ibn Ali - Tabari and ibn Khaldun have condemned the murder of Husain ibn Ali. Furthermore, the Omavi writer Abul Faraj al-Isfahani in his Maqaatil-at-Taalibiyyeen sets out the injustices perpetrated by the imperial caliphs / kings against the descendents of Abu Talib.

    umayyads were never interested in avenging Ameer Uthman ibn Afaan, they were only interested in ruling and dictationg ucz at their time they had all the power and were capable of doing so but they didnt cuz their only desire was rulership but when they started messing things up they knew that Imam Hasan ibn Ali is reowned in society and he is capable of taking a stand so they had him killed by poisoning, later Imam Hussain had enough of it and he took a stand and martyred in Karbala. after a decade or soo there was one Caliph in Umayyad who was Just and a strong Muslim Umar bin abdulaziz who only ruled for 2 and a half years but cleared up all the mess.

    If a tradition is not agreed upon by those directly trying to express the revelation and inspiration to a prophet, we should question why it would be religiously valid.
    We should also question basing our spirituality on secondary or further on versions of importance.
    We should question why any type of narrative changes.

    Shiaism is a chain reaction of emotions of people of Kofa who failed to rescue the Imam after the tragic event of Karbala .... Please correct me if I'm wrong ... Thanks

    • @ZebaNaqvi
      @ZebaNaqvi 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That reaction was pretty short lived. Search for series by the name Mukhtar nama if you prefer watching over reading through books. People who reacted to repent were given the name Tawwabeen. You can see in the series how they were slaughtered and their movement ended then and there. Regarding who are Shia people...there was a massive cover-up by Yazid about the murder of imam Husain. Lots of lies spread, traditions created to divert attention from it, murders of people who spoke of the enormous injustice done to imam Husain. Those who knew the truth, commemorated imam's murder regardless of all attempts to hush the matter, and carried that on over the centuries. These processions and remembrances of the tragedy you see after more than a millennium, is simply by the people who know the truth.. They are the so called Shia.

      Jay ! Shi'a are supporters of Imam Ali.we believe prophet muhammad pbuh declared Ali ibn abu talib his successor .the event of Ghadeer khum was the spot where prophet pbuh declared him.As coming to Shias of kofa.they lived very short after the event of karbala.even kofa at that time most of them were supporters of yazeed.they've converted to Shiism in 18 century .but likely many people say that Shiites are mourning because the people of kofa did and that's not right.Janab syeda zainab grand daughter of prophet pbuh started mourning of imam hussain in Damascus prison and later in this continued in medina as well..in Shiism we only follow ahl bait way.prophet pbuh said that I'm leaving 2 things behind .don't leave them at any cost.one is book of God and second is my ahlbait.. there are groups in Shia's as well.as you can see there are zaidis ismailis jaffari Alevis..the concept of Shiism is quite simple .we follow path of Imam ali and his successors imam hasan imam hussain imam zain al abideen imam baqar imam jafar sadiq.imam mosa kazim.imam ali reza imam muhamad taqi imam ali naqi imam hasan askari and final imam is imam mahdi.there is a hadees of prophet pbuh when nabi pak said there will be only 12 imams and hazrat jabir asked prophet pbuh what are the names of those imams and prophet pbuh gave him their names as well and told hazrat jabir that he will see my 5th successor and asked hazrat jabir to pay my greetings to my fifth successor.
