Mario’s mushroom is unstoppable. If he uses it wario basically automatically loses. Mario’s star is also unstoppable, making it impossible to block a win. All wario has is items that remove some spaces

This would be a fun game. However lots of the ideas here wouldn't in a real game. A lot of it only works because of how fast they go. Like at 1:41 if Wario had waited Mario's pieces would've died to fire bar. A lot of these ideas could just stall out in a real game.
I find it very fascinating what kind of items both have, it's actually in-character: Mario has protective/supporting items. Wario has destructive items. That fun video is a bit deeper than I thought^^
when you fully know how to play tic-tac-toe and can't even get a tie because the enemies are still there clearing your board so the game never ends (or until you have more pieces, or your opponent just waits for the board to clear out)

The star is way to OP, it should be banned from tournaments.
Honestly, both of Mario's items are. The star is entirely better than the green shell and the mushroom basically gives you +2 moves.
