Here would be there abilities: Bowser Side: Chain Chomp: Could do a forward lunge every 3 turns from a 3x3 radius. Thwomp: Wouldn’t be able to be defeated unless killed by a checkmate, and will always kill any checkers under it when it’s a checkmate. Dry Bones: Can Live one more time when defeated unless killed by a checkmate or a Koopa Shell. Koopa Troopa: When defeated, kills an entire row or column. Shy Guy: Will try to avoid contact (like us right now). Bowser: Can shoot fireballs that kill the closest Mario checker in his and neighboring rows, shoots hammers that have random trajectory, can summon a Goomba on a 1/16 chance, a Koopa on a 1/32 chance, or a Bob-Omb on a 1/64 chance, and when a checkmate can shoot 1 huge beam of fire that kills all checkers in the same row and neighboring rows in the last 3 tiles. They can’t be brought back into the field under any circumstance unless a Bowser checker which can be brought back via Magikoopa/Kamek. He also has 5 health. Goomba: Can go horizontally when killing a checker. Boo: Can be invisible when its about to be killed by a checker. It can only be invisible three times. Piranha Plant: Cant be killed by Mario or Luigi unless either one is a checkmate. When a checkmate, it can shoot fireballs in any diagonal direction. Bob-Omb: Can explode three times before killed. That explosion kills a random checker near it and can be brought out on command. Magikoopa/Kamek: Can be the only checker to be able to teleport 2 tiles away, and can bring a random Bowser checker back 3 times each game. Bullet Bill: Can fly horizontally killing any checker in the row it’s on when checkmate. Mario Side: Wario: Can use an attack that kills all enemies and allies in a 3x3 radius around it. Donkey Kong: Can shoot a barrel in a random spot in front of him that kills the first thing it touches. Daisy: Can use a turnip that kills any enemy other than Bowser that touches it a lit Bob-Omb that kills any troop it touches and that in a 3x3 radius or a heart that gives her +1 health. Peach: Can float to any tile in front of her that isn’t a checkmate. Toad: Existing. Yoshi: Can eat all enemies except Bowser, Thwomp, Boo, and Dry Bones. Mario: Can kill almost all enemies instantly, and when checkmate can use a POW Block that kills all the enemies left in 1 hit when Bowser’s about to use his beam attack. Rosalina: Same as Magikoopa/Kamek. Toadette: Also existing. Luigi: Doing absolutely nothing and winning almost every time. Waluigi: God. Diddy Kong: Can go 2 in all spaces but backwards. That’s my opinion anyways.
Thanks Sans. I thought a lot about these. Some are accurate, some are in the maker, and some are just some of my dreams of it being a chess. Looking back at this it’s almost like a hierarchy. Thanks for the nice comment ❤️
Ive come up with skills for the rest of the characters who weren't kinged in this video. *Team Mario* Mario: (Kinged in video) Can throw fireballs; can survive being attacked once but loses the fireballs at the same time Luigi: Red eyes glow in his deathstare; Immune to all attacks; must be jumped to be taken off the board; if Luigi and an enemy keep eye contact for 3 consecutive turns, the enemy instantly dies Peach: Can throw bob-ombs like in Smash. If the opposing Bob-Omb is still on the board when Peach is kinged (or queened in this case) it is automatically taken off the board. Daisy: (Queened in video) Can throw turnips to push opponents back; recharges in 2 turns Wario: Can fart to take ALL characters (both red and black) surrounding Wario off the board; recharges in 4 turns Waluigi: Transforms into his "Walette" form; (See Waluigi Bloopers by Level Up for the origin of this form) Opposing characters get so scared of him that when he gets attacked, both Waluigi and the attacker die Yoshi: Sprouts wings and can throw eggs from a high distance. The wings allow Yoshi to evade attacks that do not go upward without moving (such as Bowser's fireballs, Kamek's magic projectiles, and Bob-Omb's explosion); Only given one egg to start but eating other enemies replenishes his supply. Jumping and specific attacks (like Bowser's hammers) can still KO Yoshi Rosalina: Luma is added as a separate character to the board directly in front of Rosalina. Luma can pull off a weak attack with star bits that takes two hits to match a regular attack. If Rosalina takes a hit while Luma is active, the Luma will die but she will still live. DK: (Kinged in video) Able to roll barrels at his opponents; recharges in 3 turns (not mentioned in video) Diddy Kong: Can use his peanut popguns to weakly attack enemies; (Takes two hits to KO with a weak attack) Can attack up to 2 different enemies each time he moves Toad: Can protect any character who gets attacked or jumped; the first time he protects someone he survives and moves back to where he was before, but the second time this ability is used, Toad is done for but the attack target still lives. Toadette: Summons two Toads who cant gain abilities upon getting kinged aside from being able to move backwards. If Toadette dies, the Toads run off in fear, taking them off the board. *Team Bowser:* Bowser: (kinged in video) Gains hammers that can be used to attack Goomba: Must be attacked in any other way than jumping to get taken off the board, unless none of the remaining opponents have those kinds of attacks. Koopa: Can throw his shell as a projectile that plows through the line of opponents that it passes through; recharges in 4 turns Dry Bones: Can bring any one character back onto the board on a chosen space on Bowser's side Chain Chomp: Can lunge for opponents to attack; doing so makes the chain stretch and bring him back to his original space; does not cost a turn; recharges in 3 turns Piranha Plant: (Kinged in video) Gains a pot extension to be able to move better and can launch fireballs similar to Mario's Shy Guy: Gains a sword that can be used to attack opponents surrounding him before or after moving; recharges in 4 turns; ONLY hits opponents Thwomp: (Kinged in video) Gains wings; allows for better evasion to attacks and faster movement Bob-Omb: Gains a second life; being jumped on lights its fuse, causing it to explode, lose one life and take the attacker off the board. Boo: Can warp to a random space, taking out any opponents who occupy it; recharges in 3 turns; cannot go to spaces occupied by teammates Kamek: Gains his broom to fly on to evade attacks; can move two spaces in one turn Bullet Bill: As an action, sacrifices itself to instantly take any opponent off the board Yeah, I went overboard. But that was difficult!
Ideas for more characters: Dixie Kong (Red Team/Team Mario): Acts simular to Diddy Kong on the board. When crowned, spawns Banana Peels around the board that make you slip when stepped on. Cranky Kong (Red Team/Team Mario): Slighty less agile version of DK. When crowned, puts down an oil barrel that takes up a spot on the board. After 2 turns, it spawns an additional Fireball piece for Red Team. The barrel can be destroyed if a Black Team member hits it before the fireball is spawned. If the Fireball gets crowned, it unleashes a deadly flamethrower attack to kill anyone 4 spaces infront of it. Spike (Black Team/Team Bowser): Can throw a spikeball forward killing all enemies in a row, not unlike Kamek's magic. When crowned, swaps out his spikeballs with snowballs that freeze instead of killing. Monty Mole (Black Team/Bowser's Team): Can burrow in the ground and allow all pieces to pass through him, but if he jumps out the person on top of him dies. When crowned, turns into a Rocky Wrench and can throw wrenches that kill people when colliding with them. Mechakoopa (Black Team/Bowser's Team): They stay on the board after getting taken. This is because after one turn, they explode and kill everyone next to them. When crowned, becomes either a Zappa or Blasta Mechakoopa, based on chance. Zappa: Can shoot out a beam killing everyone infront of them, but has a recharge time of 3 turns. Blasta: Shoots a bullet targeting the closest Red Team member, having a recharge time of 2 turns. Toadsworth (Team Red/Mario's Team): Can use his staff to poke anyone in close range to him without moving. When crowned, throws a Poison Mushroom into a random spot on the board that kills whoever touches it. Birdo (Depends on how she's feeling that day): Can shoot out an egg that travels 3 spots, and anyone hit by it will not be able to move for 2 turns. When crowned, uses that egg-tnt thing seen in Sudden Death Mayhem to blow up herself and the nearest peice to her, including other team members.
It would actually be really cool to have a version of checkers where each piece has its own ability and maybe that ability would change when that piece is kinged. Tbh it doesnt even have to be Mario related. Idk it sounds cool.

Anyone else REALLY want Nintendo to release a game like this where Mario and the crew play classic board games like this with extra powers? Maybe in Mario Chess, you only choose the King, and different Kings have different abilities. Mario, for example, could have a Fire attack, spreading around four squares, Luigi could use a Vacuum attack to bring a piece close to him to protect him? Peach can add temporary pawns to protect her (Pawns of course being Toads or Toadies for Bowser's teams) Bowser could have a better Fire Attack, spreading fire all around him to block attacks, Bowser Jr. could paint a few squares to make them unusable for 3 turns. That kind of thing.

Bowser Side:
Chain Chomp: Could do a forward lunge every 3 turns from a 3x3 radius.
Thwomp: Wouldn’t be able to be defeated unless killed by a checkmate, and will always kill any checkers under it when it’s a checkmate.
Dry Bones: Can Live one more time when defeated unless killed by a checkmate or a Koopa Shell.
Koopa Troopa: When defeated, kills an entire row or column.
Shy Guy: Will try to avoid contact (like us right now).
Bowser: Can shoot fireballs that kill the closest Mario checker in his and neighboring rows, shoots hammers that have random trajectory, can summon a Goomba on a 1/16 chance, a Koopa on a 1/32 chance, or a Bob-Omb on a 1/64 chance, and when a checkmate can shoot 1 huge beam of fire that kills all checkers in the same row and neighboring rows in the last 3 tiles. They can’t be brought back into the field under any circumstance unless a Bowser checker which can be brought back via Magikoopa/Kamek. He also has 5 health.
Goomba: Can go horizontally when killing a checker.
Boo: Can be invisible when its about to be killed by a checker. It can only be invisible three times.
Piranha Plant: Cant be killed by Mario or Luigi unless either one is a checkmate. When a checkmate, it can shoot fireballs in any diagonal direction.
Bob-Omb: Can explode three times before killed. That explosion kills a random checker near it and can be brought out on command.
Magikoopa/Kamek: Can be the only checker to be able to teleport 2 tiles away, and can bring a random Bowser checker back 3 times each game.
Bullet Bill: Can fly horizontally killing any checker in the row it’s on when checkmate.
Mario Side:
Wario: Can use an attack that kills all enemies and allies in a 3x3 radius around it.
Donkey Kong: Can shoot a barrel in a random spot in front of him that kills the first thing it touches.
Daisy: Can use a turnip that kills any enemy other than Bowser that touches it a lit Bob-Omb that kills any troop it touches and that in a 3x3 radius or a heart that gives her +1 health.
Peach: Can float to any tile in front of her that isn’t a checkmate.
Toad: Existing.
Yoshi: Can eat all enemies except Bowser, Thwomp, Boo, and Dry Bones.
Mario: Can kill almost all enemies instantly, and when checkmate can use a POW Block that kills all the enemies left in 1 hit when Bowser’s about to use his beam attack.
Rosalina: Same as Magikoopa/Kamek.
Toadette: Also existing.
Luigi: Doing absolutely nothing and winning almost every time.
Waluigi: God.
Diddy Kong: Can go 2 in all spaces but backwards.

*Team Mario*
Mario: (Kinged in video) Can throw fireballs; can survive being attacked once but loses the fireballs at the same time
Luigi: Red eyes glow in his deathstare; Immune to all attacks; must be jumped to be taken off the board; if Luigi and an enemy keep eye contact for 3 consecutive turns, the enemy instantly dies
Peach: Can throw bob-ombs like in Smash. If the opposing Bob-Omb is still on the board when Peach is kinged (or queened in this case) it is automatically taken off the board.
Daisy: (Queened in video) Can throw turnips to push opponents back; recharges in 2 turns
Wario: Can fart to take ALL characters (both red and black) surrounding Wario off the board; recharges in 4 turns
Waluigi: Transforms into his "Walette" form; (See Waluigi Bloopers by Level Up for the origin of this form) Opposing characters get so scared of him that when he gets attacked, both Waluigi and the attacker die
Yoshi: Sprouts wings and can throw eggs from a high distance. The wings allow Yoshi to evade attacks that do not go upward without moving (such as Bowser's fireballs, Kamek's magic projectiles, and Bob-Omb's explosion); Only given one egg to start but eating other enemies replenishes his supply. Jumping and specific attacks (like Bowser's hammers) can still KO Yoshi
Rosalina: Luma is added as a separate character to the board directly in front of Rosalina. Luma can pull off a weak attack with star bits that takes two hits to match a regular attack. If Rosalina takes a hit while Luma is active, the Luma will die but she will still live.
DK: (Kinged in video) Able to roll barrels at his opponents; recharges in 3 turns (not mentioned in video)
Diddy Kong: Can use his peanut popguns to weakly attack enemies; (Takes two hits to KO with a weak attack) Can attack up to 2 different enemies each time he moves
Toad: Can protect any character who gets attacked or jumped; the first time he protects someone he survives and moves back to where he was before, but the second time this ability is used, Toad is done for but the attack target still lives.
Toadette: Summons two Toads who cant gain abilities upon getting kinged aside from being able to move backwards. If Toadette dies, the Toads run off in fear, taking them off the board.
*Team Bowser:*
Bowser: (kinged in video) Gains hammers that can be used to attack
Goomba: Must be attacked in any other way than jumping to get taken off the board, unless none of the remaining opponents have those kinds of attacks.
Koopa: Can throw his shell as a projectile that plows through the line of opponents that it passes through; recharges in 4 turns
Dry Bones: Can bring any one character back onto the board on a chosen space on Bowser's side
Chain Chomp: Can lunge for opponents to attack; doing so makes the chain stretch and bring him back to his original space; does not cost a turn; recharges in 3 turns
Piranha Plant: (Kinged in video) Gains a pot extension to be able to move better and can launch fireballs similar to Mario's
Shy Guy: Gains a sword that can be used to attack opponents surrounding him before or after moving; recharges in 4 turns; ONLY hits opponents
Thwomp: (Kinged in video) Gains wings; allows for better evasion to attacks and faster movement
Bob-Omb: Gains a second life; being jumped on lights its fuse, causing it to explode, lose one life and take the attacker off the board.
Boo: Can warp to a random space, taking out any opponents who occupy it; recharges in 3 turns; cannot go to spaces occupied by teammates
Kamek: Gains his broom to fly on to evade attacks; can move two spaces in one turn
Bullet Bill: As an action, sacrifices itself to instantly take any opponent off the board
Yeah, I went overboard. But that was difficult!
Ideas for more characters:
Dixie Kong (Red Team/Team Mario): Acts simular to Diddy Kong on the board. When crowned, spawns Banana Peels around the board that make you slip when stepped on.
Cranky Kong (Red Team/Team Mario): Slighty less agile version of DK. When crowned, puts down an oil barrel that takes up a spot on the board. After 2 turns, it spawns an additional Fireball piece for Red Team. The barrel can be destroyed if a Black Team member hits it before the fireball is spawned. If the Fireball gets crowned, it unleashes a deadly flamethrower attack to kill anyone 4 spaces infront of it.
Spike (Black Team/Team Bowser): Can throw a spikeball forward killing all enemies in a row, not unlike Kamek's magic. When crowned, swaps out his spikeballs with snowballs that freeze instead of killing.
Monty Mole (Black Team/Bowser's Team): Can burrow in the ground and allow all pieces to pass through him, but if he jumps out the person on top of him dies. When crowned, turns into a Rocky Wrench and can throw wrenches that kill people when colliding with them.
Mechakoopa (Black Team/Bowser's Team): They stay on the board after getting taken. This is because after one turn, they explode and kill everyone next to them. When crowned, becomes either a Zappa or Blasta Mechakoopa, based on chance. Zappa: Can shoot out a beam killing everyone infront of them, but has a recharge time of 3 turns. Blasta: Shoots a bullet targeting the closest Red Team member, having a recharge time of 2 turns.
Toadsworth (Team Red/Mario's Team): Can use his staff to poke anyone in close range to him without moving. When crowned, throws a Poison Mushroom into a random spot on the board that kills whoever touches it.
Birdo (Depends on how she's feeling that day): Can shoot out an egg that travels 3 spots, and anyone hit by it will not be able to move for 2 turns. When crowned, uses that egg-tnt thing seen in Sudden Death Mayhem to blow up herself and the nearest peice to her, including other team members.

Anyone else REALLY want Nintendo to release a game like this where Mario and the crew play classic board games like this with extra powers? Maybe in Mario Chess, you only choose the King, and different Kings have different abilities. Mario, for example, could have a Fire attack, spreading around four squares, Luigi could use a Vacuum attack to bring a piece close to him to protect him? Peach can add temporary pawns to protect her (Pawns of course being Toads or Toadies for Bowser's teams) Bowser could have a better Fire Attack, spreading fire all around him to block attacks, Bowser Jr. could paint a few squares to make them unusable for 3 turns. That kind of thing.
