    I added central locking to my Suzuki Carry as well as power mirrors. Very inexpensive add ons but make the truck so much nicer to live with.

      @markm0000 that would be complicated with a manual transmission, you would need some way to put the transmission in neutral if you leave it in gear

      @@jordankidd230 no? There’s a sensor on some manual transmissions to check for neutral in order to remote start. I’m sure it can be added to this with some ingenuity.

    I appreciate that you put in an Imperial Speedometer as well. As an American that can use both metric and imperial I just remember. 100kph is 60MPH and from there you can get a decent eyeball of how fast your going henceforth.

    • @captainmcadams
      @captainmcadams ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Unfortunately eyeballing it ain’t gonna cut it in Blighty as there’s speed cameras bloody everywhere now.. 😢

      I know 60MPH is 100KMH, and go from there. 😅

    For around $100 you can get a wide rear view mirror with a dashcam built in. I got one with a 4K forward and 1440p rear camera for around $85, and they sell one with android built in for around $125.
    But I would strongly recommend getting the optional hard-wire kit. Most of these have a USB input for power, but are very picky about voltage and do not like to be powered by 3rd party adapters.

    It's early spring here in the US. We're in "blackberry winter" which is the nasty few weeks of cold weather after a couple of warm February days. It seems colder than winter because it's cold and windy. I've used that time to design and 3D print parts for my new-to-me 1996 4WD Hijet mini truck. I created a large cup holder (I uploaded it to Thingiverse - search Hijet Cup Holder if you'd like to print one), not because I get the fat American Big Gulp soft drinks, but because I wanted to secure my 32 ounce HydroFlask thermos of ice water or unsweetened tea. Smaller cans are a loose fit but won't tip over. I also 3D printed new door lock knobs and a dashboard phone holder.
    I'm doing a combo of your bed liner and sound deadening. As soon as we have reliably warm and dry weather, I'm painting the entire truck, inside and out, with two coats of indestructible zero maintenance medium gray Monstaliner bed liner. I'm hoping the thick polyurethane coating on both sides of the sheet metal will significantly reduce the tinny clatter noises when I run over a bump or slam the door closed.
    I'm a huge fan of quality cam buckle straps for pickup trucks. I like the NRS brand. I feel no need to add tie downs in the mini truck bed. The hooks on the outside of the bed sides are VERY practical. In addition to ropes and straps, they're great for groceries. I get a few plastic bags of groceries, place them against the bed side, wrap the plastic loop handles over the bed side and place the loops over the tie down hoops. My groceries stay in place. Ditto for a plastic bag full of takeout Chinese food. I put my 91 year old Mom's wheelchair in the bed and use its seat belt to strap it to one of those handy tie down hooks. The Japanese tie downs are WAY better than corner tie downs in American pickups and honestly, better than most of the expensive after market tie down hardware.
    My Hijet has a Japanese AM radio and a large cubby hole underneath it. The space is perfect for a double DIN stereo. I'll be adding an ATOTO Android stereo with a backup camera.
    I was going to get a GPS speedometer app for my phone, but I've quickly become accustomed to converting in my head. 6 MPH per 10 KPH isn't difficult. I look at 70 KPH on the speedometer and think 7 X 6 = 42 MPH.

    I bought a roof basket off Amazon here in the states. It had 3 sections. It's unlikely that you'll find on that's a perfect fit without modifying one. I left the middle section out and cut 4" off the back section of mine. Doing that made it the perfect size. I put a 36" light bar on mine. It looks awesome.

      What size wheels are best for these? Do they fit 15'?

    • @gadgetorian-rctechgadgetsm4566
      @gadgetorian-rctechgadgetsm4566 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Rossboe1 It all depends on what your trying to do. If you're doing a street build, 15s will fit but you're going to have very little sidewall. If you're doing an off road build, a smaller wheel and bigger tire will ride a lot better. 12" and 13" are the most common wheel sizes that people use. I'm not sure what kei truck you have but the bolt spacing might determine your wheel options. For some reason Suzuki deviated from the norm and used 4x114.3 bolt spacing on some of their Carry's built from 1990-95 and it can be difficult to find wheels that fit. These are typically the rectangular headlight models. Suzuki used 4x100 on the rest. 4x100 and 4x110 are the most common across kei trucks and a lot easier to find.

    • @Rossboe1
      @Rossboe1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@gadgetorian-rctechgadgetsm4566 Ok thanks mate. I would be doing a street build. I think 13's looks cool, but its harder to find smaller alloy wheels where I am. I don't have one at the moment, but Im in Japan and they are pretty cheap to export. Cheers.

They even make truck bed campers for them so you can turn them into part time caravans. while few have bathrooms as that's really not the culture, simply having bed, seating area, heat and/or AC. To get indications for mph, use some narrow pin striping tape (1/8" or less). Mark your main driving speeds, such as 25, 35, 45, 55, 65, 75 mph. For extra convenience get 2 clolors (1 red). Use the red tape at whatever mph is your typical highway speed limit.
    Use the gps speed on the gps app on your phone to find your positions. The speedo is probably wrong anyway.

    Your truck is awesome I really like the way you trim the truck out I've always been sort of interested in these type trucks but it seems like I can only see videos of them with manuals so I was wondering do they sell them in automatics.
    And what's the top speed or can a hand keep up with other cars on the freeway.
    Because I seriously like the way they look expensive the way yours is trimmed out from the wheels all the way on up to the top of the truck and that spoiler on the back also this sets It Off.
    Great work.

      Autos are more common from the mid-90s
      Can easily chug away at 55mph all day long. 77mph is the fastest I've had out of it on a GPS speedo.
