The art in the game looks amazing! One tiny thing that I think would clean up the game a-lot - making each character have the same texturing (maybe involving the light or ratio), eg the boss is not effected to the light the same as the onion. The Onion almost looks like its glaring and not in focus in comparison to the sharp looking boss. Also dont listen to anyone saying this is a holownight copy, your game has great potential.

It's cozy, but eerie and not entirely safe. Also, honestly, your explanation on how bosses work helped me understand the kind of coding that goes on behind them. Really cool stuff! Excited for the Kickstarter debut and for more updates!
This fight is looking really good! Do you guys plan to rework the character a bit to give it more dimension/place in the game? For some reason that character looks a bit stale/out of place to me.
You're not the first person to tell us this, so yes 100%. Were still figuring out lighting / color / atmosphere. It's an ongoing process that we keep revisiting and will likely continue to do so for a while.
Love seeing the process. I do feel like the boss room is so large, the pumpkin needs to be much larger than it is. It just seems like a slightly bigger enemy surrounded by a bunch of empty space. Not sure how that would scale with the Onion’s jump or other mechanics, but I feel like it would be worth the tweaking.
Hes just the perfect size for the onion to jump over lol. However, you have a good point here. Perhaps when we revisit the boss down the road Ill consider this feedback and experiment with a smaller boss room. Thanks for the helpful feedback. Cheers!
@@MrChambers Just thought of something that might be a quick fix, if not ideal: having cloud platforms that Onion can jump on to raise his height. Probably need to make sure the Pumpkin can’t land on them. Again, could alter the whole flow of the fight, but might be an easy solution if it doesn’t.
Glad to see the progress. My feedback: I feel like the boss (in this example) could use more variation in sound design. Like that caughing 6:42 ; it could be used. As hes head is about to detach he could make that caughing sound to elevate the motion of his head falling off. Maybe even adding diffrent pitches of some specific sounds.
I get why someone could feel that way, but who cares? If people want it they’ll buy it. If people don’t want it they won’t buy it? Who’s it hurting here? Hollow knight came out like 8 years ago. He’s not taking food out of their mouth. By time his game is launched it’ll probably be 10 years. A decade.

i think the hit effect is lacking a bit. it would br good if it were like hollow knight where there is a freeze frame to give the hit more depth
