What an awesome video, thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I’ve been very interested in these boats, and there really isn’t a ton of information like this so I really appreciate it. Excellent content! This is the video that we all want to do that is useful, but never do lol
I was wondering if you had looked into getting the Kommander GP1 prior to getting this ski? A Kommander GP1 is completely ready for an engine and driveline when you receive it. No need for drilling tapping or guessing……
No, you can get one of these in any form you'd like, this is the trim we opted for. As small business owners ourselves, we understand the undertaking it takes to make a hull from scratch. Hours of design, testing, and iteration.
@@ChixLife Thank you, much appreciated...The hulls are actually manufactured in Durban South Africa and I tried to get Dustin to sell me one ex factory so I could save on the exhorbitant international shipping and import tax and duties back into South Africa. Tyron was 100 percent with it but Dustin nixed it, no reason offered...We had words because I offered the full dollar based price and he gave me the bird.
@user-mg2tk6uy6e that could have been because Kommander had ownership in the hulls before they split, and selling it straight from South Africa might have been a problem with that. Who knows.
@CGPhotos yes people do that with the TR1. Other than trying something different, there just isn't a good reason, still not competitive. While I'd like to like the TR1, they like to eat rods and just don't have much torque. Not sure what the fascination is with forced induction on stand ups, the powerband makes them more difficult to ride. Would be much better off building an NA motor to make it actually rideable in something other than a straight line.
Nice vid guys! I have that same look every time I have to climb inside a ski 04:40
Wow. Great video. Looks like you did a great job on the build. Looks amazing. Skills!

Appreciate it! Adding the video aspect to the build definitely slows it down, but always great to share to process and look back on it for memories!
Excellent work and video! Ski came out awesome. Also those are largest allen t-handles ive ever seen! Haha

hi where did you put the engine and fuel light on ?

Hi
Nice build thank you. Hoping to do one myself. Two questions.. Who did you source the kit from, and also was the newer F1 a consideration for you ?
Straight from Dustin at Fast Powersports. And no, not interested in the F1 at this time, have more time on the GP1R hull and like it.

I forgot to mention I live in South Africa

When are you going to 3 palms?
Not likely soon. Last year the pond was empty with the drought, and they increased the entry fee to like $40 a person 🥴
Lawds in heaven!
How much is it to just buy the hull ?
Best to talk to Dustin.
Has anyone tried to put a supercharged engine in one of these
No point since it doesn't have a race class.
Other GP skis have been built with smaller motors & a turbo. There are also a few SXR 1500's with the Kawasaki 310 setup.

You race?
Used to before the big hip surgery.
@@ChixLife Ah gotcha, saw the race number so was just wondering.
@@tonytabor yeppers, once upon a time! Would like to race again, World Finals was a blast.
Hey I noticed you all didn’t sand the trey before installing mat. Has that changed ? I’ve not done my Superjet yet and was dreading that.
@JetSkiJockey I've never sanded a fresh tray, there is no point. The only reason I'd ever sand is if there is leftover glue or mat on a used ski.
