I have not been on the triple nickel, but it reminds me of the Back of the Dragon in your video. A lot of gentle turns, with some stretches of very technical sections. The Tail of the Dragon is pure technical, no let up during the entire 11 miles. Everyone will have a different opinion, but it's like comparing apples and oranges, I absolutely love "hitting" the Tail of the Dragon, but it's quick, and an adrenaline rush the whole time. The Back of the Dragon, (& The triple nickel??) Are more scenic with blasts of fun, and then relaxation, back to the blast. Great ride, with a great friend, (& great vlogger), pretty much the best way to spend a weekend! I will have to get there asap! Take Care

Good observation. Back of the dragon is tame IMO. It has its places over the passes that are fun. The Tail is 11 miles of go.

The way I like to ride the triple nickel is from Zanesville south to the Ohio River to Marietta get lunch and then head east on state route 7 to state route 26 north through the Wayne National forest. Rt 26 is more twisty than 555 but it’s in the national forest so less homesteads. 26 will take you to route 800 that’s also real nice and 800 takes you to downtown Canton.

The speed you were going is ideal for those kinds of roads. Actually, the smaller the bike, the more engaging it is on those roads because you can't go that fast on something like a 250.

If you've never ridden the entire length of RT555 the southern part has tighter curves and is more challenging. When you get to Rt 78, if you go west about a mile or two there is a view that to me is the best in the whole state of Ohio. Rt78 is gorgeous and a must see for any biker.
If you like tight curves you ought to ride St Rt 56 from Athens to Circleville, another great motorcycyle road.
Did you see the "Y" bridge in Zanesville? There is a park just SW of the bridge on a hill which offers a good view. And don't forge to stop at Tom's Ice Cream Bowl the next time you are in Zanesville.
A lot of times when I just want a lazy ride I take Rt 13 from Athens to Zanesville, then rt 60 to Marietta which follows the Muskingum River, and RT 7 which follows the Ohio River for a ways back down to Pomeroy. The town of Pomeroy is built right next to the Ohio River with a large parking lot where you can sit and view the charming town and the beautiful river. On the Summer weekends you'll see several boaters out enjoying the water.
And I recommend Fox's Pizza Den on the river, they have a wide menu and the food is pretty good. Of course Pomeroy offers several fast food places like Wendy's, a privately owned McCLures, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Taco Bell, KFC, Subway, and Dominos. There are a coulple more privatley owened like The River Roasters, and the Court Grill. I hope I didn't forget any, don't want to upset anyone.
Some interesting facts about Pomeroy, the court house is the only courthouse in the world that is three storys high and opens to ground level on all three levels. There are no four way intersetions in Pomeroy, just three way. Not counting the parking lot downtown.
Pomeroy is the county seat of Meigs County. Within Meigs county there are some really nice motorcycyle roads, like St RT 248 from Chester to Long Bottom, St Rt 124 along the Ohio River (I saw you on this one) St Rt 124 from Pomeroy to Wilksville, St RT 143 from Pomeroy to Albany. and county roads which are kept in very good condition like Racine/Bashan road which will take you from Racine to St Rt 248. Eagle Ridge, School Lot Rd. These are just some of my favorites.
Ride safe and enjoy every journey.

Roads like this one are a lot of fun because you get to enjoy long sweeping curves and also take in the scenery while cruising the roller coaster straights. Now the Dragon is a technical ride and a real workout even when riding your own ride. There's really no time to take in scenery since you've got to stay focused on the road. One technique riders should learn, especially on the twisties is called "Trail Braking". Slowing down and proper braking is very important in the twisties.

    • @BoDean52

Good video man, a group of us rode the 555 last year, you shown some of it but I feel like there were some very technical sections that maybe didn't make the cut of the video or something. We went through some sections that felt like a roller coaster. We came up on a man who had ran a road king off the road who was pretty freaked out we helped get him out of the ditch and back on his way. I've only rode it once, so i don't remember exactly where we were on 555. We rode the whole thing all the way to the Ohio River where it dead ends on the edge of West Virginia. The sections you shown in your video looks like the easiest parts maybe at the beginning?. I'm not meaning to be rude brother so don't take me wrong please. But there is a lot of wicked sections to that road that i didn't see in the video. It lives up to its hype imo. We are going back this fall. Take care dude, be safe! Keep up the great work we still really enjoy all your videos.

Can't really compare the Triple Nickel and the Tail... Tail has just over 300 turns in 11 miles, while the 555 is stretched over 62 miles... 555 doesn't have the tight switch-backs, but has the vanishing road drops into 90 degree turns! Tail doesn't have the intersections like the 555 May want to consider comparing the 555 to BACK of the Dragon, if you want...

Not a huge technical road Jared depending on your skill level for sure. There are a few spots on it that I didn’t not film. Ride safe

I don't like to put my video links in the comments on someone else's video, but if you're interested, I did a video from the Tail of the Dragon that touched on a lot of what you 2 talked about in this video.
