The lack of games and the regression of games from Sony studios…last gen their studios put out bangers. They need to reverse course, give the US based execs the axe, go back to Japanese leadership and get back to making edgy games telling great stories
Biggest surprise for me was the PS Portal suddenly allowing cloud streaming. I went from using it occasionally to using it all the time. Second biggest was how much fun AstroBot was. I really liked Astro's Playroom but wasn't sure they could replicate that across a full game.
That anything happened with PSVR 2 this year. Both the PC compatibility (though somewhat half-baked) and hand-tracking were completely unexpected given how little software support materialized in 2023. It still doesn't have 3D Blu-ray support, even though it should be low-hanging fruit.
Concord 100%, just how badly they’ve let PSVR stagnate despite the money pumped into it was close but we’ve never seen a game made for as much money as Concord just flop so badly, a game getting shuttered after two weeks is just something I don’t think we’ll ever see again! I remember seeing it starting to break on Twitter that it was being shuttered and I was just like what?! I just thought they’d make it free to play or let it just exist but to shut it down and offer refunds? We’ll never see anything like that again in such a short time I think. Also I was the same as you, I didn’t mind it! It wasn’t perfect but for £35? I’ve played a lot worse and I think you’re spot on, it just had too much hate / negative reaction to ever succeed, it will be an interesting thing to look at in the future on just how much power social media / negative feedback can have. Special mention to Astrobot as well, for it to be as good as it actually was, was a surprise for me, I never expected it to be GOTY levels for me!
We can speculate on why concord failed or if it's fair but none of it happens if it was free to play instead of full price. There are just better options for $0
Why it bothers you that games are designed for PS5’s power and then downgraded for PS4 due to very similar architecture? There are some people who can’t afford PS5 or don’t care about better graphics and few exclusives - and it’s about 60M people like this, too high to ignore.
@@tomaszstarzZzbro, I am those people. ps4 professional owner I just feel we're getting ps4 games, and better resolution/frame rate ps4 games. But it's a ps4 game. Think of THPS on ps1 and ps2. or the harry potter games. or Tekken. The leap in quality was day and night. it was new experiences one couldn't have before. Now... it's the same game. Just a bit better. If one still has a 1080p 60fps TV (me), it is.... give or take, the same game. And I think it's sad. It's sad how the industry or the power limit or the economy or whatnot has caused this stagnation. I'm glad we still get new games on our ps4. I'm just sad that the ps5 only gets HD ps4 games. peace
PS3 console was virtually free as the cheapest Blue ray player was still more expensive than a PS3 at the release. The new technology threshold price was just too high for an average household. $600 from 2006 will be around $1050 if you adjust for inflation.
I'm surprised they're doubling down on their stupid looking protag mandate. After tlou 2 sold less than half of tlou1, Concord epic failure, ghost of Tsushima 2 debacle, they're never gonna learn are they?
What PS5 moment shocked you the most in 2024? 🤔

The new themes and bootup are a great surprise 😀

Why is no one talking abput the clean setup
Honestly, the biggest surprise was that 8/10 games are PS4 games.
Imagine saying that for a PS2 and PS1.

Found the one guy that liked Concord
PS6 is probably gonna cost $600 like the PS3 did.
maybe but it would be a coincidence. $600 in 2028 is a lot less money than $600 was in 2006
and it will opnly play PS5 games, just a lil smoother. Imagine if the PS3 only played HD PS2 games, AND it was asking for $600.

Ghost of Yoti going with a female lead and ditching Jin
Also Concord.. I didn’t think it would fail that bad, knew it wouldn’t be successful
What else could they have done with Jin?
Quite a shocker for those of us insecure in our masculinity.
