How can a country so passionate about a sport and not make it big globally. Don't get me wrong, we should not stop this sport we love so much but talking about globally, Many of these kid could make millions abroad and help the economy or country or help improve the courts or help put the kids to school.
I'm half Portuguese and half Filipino. So passionate and not one pure Filipino in the NBA. Most countries if a particulate sport being focus, usually the country excell in Olympics, FIBA, MMA, world cup. All I can say is if we put the same passion, effort on sports where height I'd not a factor like soccer. We would be there in every world cup. We are clearly undersized. What I mean by this is that we can be 6'5 and be great basketball players but there are thousands in Europe or Usa who can do the same thing but 6'8 or 6'10. We are excellent in boxing globally because of the weight division.
There is no weight or height devision n in basketball.
And why do we have to gather players around the world to make up for our gilas pilipinas.
It's time we find another sport. The Americans gave us this sport and so is everything given by the Americans, we are their biggest alias, yet we are the poorest country in Asia. Stop this basketball. Stop this American bullshit. Let's be good at something that the whole world will watch.

The Philippines isn't the poorest country in Asia. It's not rich, but it's not the poorest. The Philippines is economically better compared to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Laos, East Timor, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan.
Stop with your inferiority complex. Basketball is even popular in the PH before it became popular in the US. If the PH was merely following the US, then American football will be the most popular sport. But it doesn't have a following.
So shove your basketball hate in your ass
