I have an L118 with a steering gear issue. I fixed it once(see the video). Its broken again. Needs some re engineering to really fix it. I was fixin to do that but the original steering parts fell off a trailer somewhere between NH and Maine.
I guess that’s a common problem with John Deere lawn tractors, A friend of mine has a similar issue with his John Deere mower as well, I think he wants to get rid of it so maybe I’ll get the chance to also do a video on it soon!
@@kylesjunkandprojects216 The issue is the gear spacing between the cog gear on the steering wheel shaft and the teeth on the steering sector gear plate. The cog gear needs to be moved a bit closer for a tighter fit. If you move the gear plate the front tires will toe out. The tie rods are a fixed length.
Yeah, I have a garage full of mowers lol. No room for the cars there... Just picked up a 2-stroke Toro with great compression, but I have to re-seal the crankcase as it has oil all over it and the power lags due to the exhaust stroke lagging. Goofy videos aren't a bad thing for subscribers of that sort of thing (I think its great, and doesn't require any thinking on my part lol).
Im amazed at how those mowers stick the corners at that speed.
