I could see Brooke’s excitement when she knew the purchase was happening. It made me smile.
As soon as Jason was talking about getting a new attachment for the tractor I knew Brooke would be so happy, grinning from ear to ear. The pasture looks wonderful with all your hard work, I was tired just watching you two working so hard. All the animals were watching but Nugget was really supervising everything, his little head popped up in almost every scene, he is so adorable. 🥰🥰🥰

I absolute love Roomba, she’s such an outgoing and expressive chicken, and she certainly loves you guys! Probably my most favorite bird on your farm! Also, in watching Moody do that little crow hop, he either stepped on a rock, it has a sore claw. That was more like a pain response to me. Might be worth keeping an eye on his left hind hoof. It’s probably nothing, but thought I’d mention it.
Kristine I noticed that as well. I wondered the same. Was that a happy skip or a trip on a rock or something out there. So I agree, wouldn’t hurt checking his rear hoof out. He’s absolutely the sweetest thing.
Good catch. I saw that also but thought it was a "jump for joy".
Almost looked like he stepped in a rut or something and jumped out of it, maybe a hole in the ground. Seemed okay afterwards though.

Brooke’s smile couldn’t get any bigger, new tractor accessories will do it every time😃 The landscape rake is a great addition to the stable. The boys pasture looks really good, just like an early spring cleaning. Moody & Nugget were watching everything you guys were doing 🤣 Take care & cheers 🐨🦘🥰
I think it's good to breed Fifi now so she and Capri will have kids to romp and play together!
Pile the old hay up and set it on fire or just set it somewhere out of sight and let it decompose into a nice source for the garden ect.
A rake and a grapple for the tractor would be such a great addition to the farm in helping with chores. There's also different mulching machines which you might be able to rent when you get to clearing the woods.
Oh my gravy! I just love those babies! Moody and Mildred have the sweetest faces. I am certain Moody approved of the new digs and Nugget supervised the laying of seed. I do believe he was happy with Brookes work. Everything is looking great!

I'd say that rake purchase will be worth its weight in gold! And look how happy it makes Brooke! 😍😂 The pasture looks FANTASTIC! And with all the animals supervising, how could anything go wrong? It always brightens my day to see the animals of Cog Hill Farm and watch Jason, Brooke and MaryCarl work together to keep improving their home and environment!!!!

I'll say again, you named Roomba well. She roams the farm cleaning up just like the roomba floor cleaner. Lol. The boys pasture looks great. You guys keep it clean and that's saying a lot for a big steer and 2 goats in a small paddock. Brooke is gonna need her own she shed for all her orange toys!!
Watching Jason on the spool reminded me of being at my grandparents house years ago. They had an oil barrel that I would get on and walk all around their yard. Kids today wouldn't understand it but I had so much fun. Watching your farm all coming together as well as the house is so exciting. I cant wait to see what is next!
I have no idea why I watch Cog Hill and Mrs. Cig Hill but I do. I am 69, do not farm, do not garden, only have two dogs. I don't cook either so why do I watch? Hmmmm, maybe it is your wonderful kindness, your love of animals, how you three interact with one another and your delightful sense of humor. I lived in Alabama for 8 months way back and miss the southern manners and hospitality. I live in Washington State and there is a big difference in attitude. Again I miss the southern charm. I watch Ima Survivor Sanctuary and they are constantly cleaning the barns and the pastures. And the animals are feed good and are well taken care of. But you are right....Jason and Brooke do an awesome job.

Y'all got soo much accomplished! It really looks good and I know Moody and Top love a clean house! Things are really coming along great. That rake is going to be really handy and save Y'all a lot of hard work.
I have the same Land pride rake , but I added power angle it makes a bid difference. But if you want a true game changer save up for a grapple. I’ve done a ton of research on them and purchased an Everything Attachment wicked grapple. It’s great for cleaning up that old hay after you rake it up, flipping the compost pile, and clearing limbs and brush from the woods. It’s on my Kubota 90% of the time. By the way the pasture looks great .

Collect all your leaves, put them into the compost . My grandfather was head Gardner for Lord and Lady Burnham in Buckinghamshire and they had 400 acres of woodland, I would go out with him with the tractor and trailer and collects 10 ton leaves each year, beautiful stuff on the garden once rottet down

Always love watching your all your projects on the farm. Learn a lot about natural farming and recycling of used hay and grass to protect and build up the soil. All the livestock are so fun watch. Brooke got a new reason to drive the tractor 🚜 😊

When my son worked for the Texas highway maintenance department, they had a biodegradable netting that went over straw to stop erosion of embankments and hold the grass seed down until it rooted. He brought me a scrap off the end of a roll once, and it worked wonders along a retention wall we had on the side of the property. The grass and wildflower seeds took hold and I haven't had any issues since. Took almost 6 months for the netting to break down. We started it in late Fall and it was mostly degraded by mid Spring/early Summer. It didn't seem to interfere with the seeds sprouting, but between the netting (I did use ground staples) and the light scattering of grass clippings and chopped straw we had very little erosion or washing of the seeds. Even seemed to keep the birds from eating them all! I have no idea where you'd purchase it, but I bet it's at the same places that sell big rolls of snow fencing and road safety barricades.
The worst part of that contamination in the commercial compost is how insidious it can be creeping into the producers' supply chain. Animals fed with contaminated hay or bedded on contaminated straw (which they inevitably nibble at) produce materials used for compost that remain contaminated even after digestion AND the composting process. It's really hard to be totally sure nothing contaminated creeps into the production line. And sadly, some people won't tell potential customers that their product isn't 100% free of any possibility of contamination. I wish there were consequences for not being truthful, but it's hard to prove. That's why having your own supply made from your own land is so important these days. Such a blessing!
I'm fighting that durned Chinese Privet myself. Appreciate any tips! Seems the more I chop it the more it comes up from traveling roots! I've dug and poured boiling vinegar on a few of the worst plants in hopes of getting more dead roots, but it sure is tenacious stuff!
