Thanks for sharing that, I've never been into comics/MCU, always a card nerd, but since playing snap I've found myself appreciating all of it for the first time.
The point with Ajax is to know if it counts cards afflicted by on reveals or one time effects from locations wether there's a Luke Cage or not. Because Luke Cage works meanwhile his Ongoing ability is working, but the affliction on cards doesn't dissapear, it's just there, latently blocked by the Luke Cage ability. If it counts those cards, then you can put him in the classic toxic hazmat deck, having a really impressive finisher. I think Cassandra Nova will have yet a spotlight, no matter if she's in the Deadpool's Dinner.
Gwenpool will require some unique deck building. If you can empty your hand other than Black Panther, that makes him a 5-20. Do that with Brood and now you have a 3-24. Adding 6 power to some cards could be incredible

Its propably need perfect draws, but how fun can be turn 4 you play gwen with only 1 other card in your hand (beast) buff it up with 6 power then on turn 5 you can do a gwen again for 3 energy with some other cards you beasted back to your hand.
Another interesting thing to think about with Copycat is that you can force a shuffle of your opponents deck. So Cable, Korg, Rockslide, Baron etc will make their deck shuffle and they may still draw the dud card. I am also guessing that Cassandra's ability forces a shuffle. So maybe there is a Surfer synergy with those 3 drops working together. Ripping power and abilities right out of the deck.
Copycat stealing Galactus card text and dropping down on turn three 😂 Sure, it’s hugely unlikely but could happen. Great fun for the chaos card enjoyers 👍
I think Gwen will find a home somewhere, because on Turn 4 if you're playing on curve, it's almost certain that something you've been keeping in your hand will be worth playing later, and lots of cards have good synergies with getting buffed. She's also just so many stats that it feels like something will want to play her. Might be a good throw in to Arishem as well. Hydra Bob seems interesting but I dunno. Seems like a zoo card that encourages you to make risky snaps, and zoo fills locations anyway. Feels underwhelming. 1/4 that moves once just isn't that strong right now even without the additional risk. I think Ajax would be awesome if he were something like a 3/2, or a 2/1 instead of a 4/4. Toxic decks could really use him, but they want to play Wong on turn 4, not something like ajax. I have a feeling he will eventually find a home in high evo, but not until they implement some more of their planned changes. Copycat is going to be really good. Very confident on that. I think Cassandra Nova will be fine. Maybe even really good. It's already the worst when someone plays scorpion against you, and I'm sure someone will abuse her with grandmaster or something. Overall I think these cards look a little underwhelming and I'm hopeful that they get buffed a little so July isn't a boring month. However, worst case scenario is I just save a lot of keys for august, which looks amazing.

As for the ratings.... while I agree with most, I really do think that Bob is a bad card. Card that can move at the high risk of a snap that also your opponent can control? No thanks I'll just get Jeff.
Gwenpool will see play in Zoo to maximise her buff, as you said... If you play her with too expensive cards because you are not able to play them maybe. Exited for Copy Cat and Cassandra.
All these cards are cracked even Ajax if u play with Cassandra cause your own Luke might keep his power maybe and all the other cards in spotlight are also so good
I think Docty went too hard on Gwenpool flexibility. she should be at least 2 stars. Flexibility means how the card can be added in different decks, and Gwenpool doesn't hurt any decks (except Cerebro) so she can be played in any deck just to have bonus powered cards on T5/T6. If not the floor is 4/6 which is decent. She can also be great in Zoo style decks, Synergizes with Mysterio, Sasquatch, Brood. If you hold the 1 drops and play T4 Wong, T5 GP, those 1 drops are gonna be huge. Psylocke+Wong+GP. I can see "buffed Zoo" style decks appear with her & Phastos.
It’s not a guaranteed 4/12 because you still have to play out the cards. The problem is the ability is pretty niche and the cards that would really be synergistic with her are too. Surfer seems like a decent fit but those decks have to be crafted very precisely for an effect like this to get to that 4/12 default stat line. The other cards that benefit might be black panther, iron man, and nimrod of which the best deck you can probably make would be a black panther/nimrod zola deck but even that would be clunky as you could play gwen w both in hand and not be guaranteed to hit either.
I agree she is just good and she will open up new archetype, like blackpanther with more cards that like getting buffed, good cards till 4 then blackpanther zola etc

And ajax I think is going to be a nice puzzle piece that myself as a affliction deck lover thinks is very exciting to build around. I'm excited about Copycat and intend to spend 4 keys that week (I don't have Thanos), but the other cards don't excite me that much. Gwenpool has handbuff synergy and there are now a solid number of cards that benefit from handbuffs. Is it enough to carry an archetype? I don't think so

@@ydgmdlu I don't build a lot of complex combo decks, so I don't think it will be "very likely" it won't synergize. I also still face a lot Tribunal and Hela decks that try to dig for the last card with Jubilee and Iron Lad, plus a lot of decks with Magik, so the last cards are often important. I think she'll be at least strong.
@@ydgmdlu Hmm let's say you have Copy Cat in hand by turn 3. Likely, your board isn't clogged at all yet. She copies Venom: no downside except possibly giving them a destroy trigger. That's Fine I'm probably running Mobius too. Carnage: fine. Deathlok: fine. Death: amazing! Knull: amazing! Killmonger: probably bad, but could save till turn 6 to off their Deadpool. Zola: potentially great, maybe bad, usually neutral. Bucky: neutral. X-23: usually neutral, sometimes a lane winner. Nico: great. Hulk Buster: hilarious. The later you draw her, in this scenario, the worse she becomes with a random destroy card, but also most of my games I don't play my entire hand out. She's got way more upside than downside.
Ajax shouldn’t lose his buffs with luke cage. The cards are still inflicted. It’s just that their stats aren’t lowered, so Ajax will still work. At least this is how I believe it will work based on how mechanics in the game function.
I believe afflicted is looking at current visible stats - if you hit your opponents cards with negative power and then they play Luke Cage, your High Evo evolved Abomination won't get discounted? That is my understanding. But if I'm wrong then Ajax does seem a lot better with that interaction.

Only going for copy cat cz idk how she would be bad stealing the text just by drawing the card meaning you don't have to build around her you can just have her in many decks and also I'm missing all three cards so I would need all four keys so I like that I don't care about both ajax and bob.
For Ajax, I’m cooking something up with the possibility of an early Luke, then do a Hazmat and Ajax on 6? Maybe figure out some Wong, mystique, magik combo
@Docty Two questions I have: (1) Does Hydra Bob move after every turn if there was a snap before but not in that current turn? If I snap turn 1 does he keep moving around like Silk until the end of the game? (2) Luke Cage's ability is "Ongoing: Your cards can't have their power reduced." So is there a possibility that your Typhoid Mary/Ajax combo could work if Luke is played turn 6? Which Ongoing ability takes priority? Ajax's or Luke's?
Just my opinion, but I think if Copycat’s stats is lower than 3/5, she will be a bad card. She looks good now cause that stats makes her floor decent, if she loses the stats she will usually end up been an unplayable card cause you can’t control what text she will steal. Normally, there are just few cards serves as a “key winning condition” in one deck, so the chance to steal exactly that card is not high. For the current stats, I think Copycat is just a fine card. I don’t think she is good enough to compete with Nocturne or Red Gradient, but yes, she will be a good cube stealing card.
If you play Ajax on 5, and Hazmat on turn 6 with a full board on both sides, wouldn’t Ajax have the potential to be a 5 cost 28 power card? Isn’t that good?
But you're stealing power away from your other cards. That's removing 11 power from your board to give Ajax 11 power - net zero power. The only real benefit is Aiax gaining power from hitting your opponent's cards and however many they play will vary.
Its going to be zabu or psylocke into wong into gwenpool for +12 power... Even without zabu or psylocke playing wong on 4 and gwenpool on 5 is still a really strong play.
Couldn't you just play bigger combos on Wong? Namora, Ironheart, Surfer, Hazmat, etc. Wong has so many huge potential combos - why is Gwenpool worth it for Wong?
Copycat seems pretty good but the 3 drop spot for a lot of decks is soooo tight. I'll be interested to see of shes better than nocturne or red guardian in most decks
Luke cage prevents your cards from having their power lowered. If you raise ajax's power with typhoid Mary, it shouldn't be reduced when you push Luke Cage.
I just want to play Selene turn 1, Scorpion turn 2, and Cassandra turn 3. I'm not claiming it's meta, I'm claiming that's my kind of fun lol. Maybe Iron Lad into an Odin hahaha 🤣.
Im excited for Copycat. Obviously you could get some terrible RNG and steal the Destroyer text lol. But, most of the time, even if the ability you steal is a dud, you still played a 3-5 that got you some valuable information
She grabs the ability on draw. So if you get Destroyer's text, you don't even have to play her. While the opponent may now have a safe 6/16 to play, they likely built a deck around Destroyer to begin with, so its still a valuable steal.
Ironheart and Gwenpool both give +2 Power 3 times, but Ironheart hits cards already on the board so you always see the power come down. What if you Wong+Gwenpool but then can't play all the cards she buffed?
@@docty_snap It could prompt using Zabu and Psylocke to cheat out Gwen or Wong on turn 3. Similar to the Wong/Surfer decks with Mr. Negative. Run Sera and Magik to extend the game so you can dump out 3 cards on turn 7. The potential is there, much like Phastos it's all dependent on getting it out on curve.
@@docty_snaponly reason I think this might be possible is because if you were to enchant Luke the game would revert those cards back,right? So the game still has memory of their negative power. It will be interesting to see!
This isn’t the case with Evo Abom when your opponent drops Luke Cage (he loses his cost discount) so I don’t think it could possibly be different for Ajax.

Honestly the OTAS are a double edged sword. They kill cards you've dropped 6k and they're like SORRY NOT SORRY , and then when a card is under/OP they're like "we were incompetent in the balancing department and we want more money" BUFF 😂 pretty scummy imo. They're always safe and they have no accountability. It's such a cheap safe net but then again on the flip side some cards that need love do get it like vulture or Herc

The last time they gave out a free card was Kitty Pryde last year - I don't think they keep giving out free cards each season. From a business standpoint, spending time & money on creating new cards that are given out for free doesn't seem like something you want to do often.
They made him worse? There must be some reason in testing but it has even slightly good everyone just tecks in Luke Cage or Rogue. I'm probably skipping that week even though I also don't own Bill. Too many other great cards to get.
hear me out: gwenpool moon girl zoo. she turns mysterio into a 2/6 and two 2/2s. you build it to have a low curve with lots of tokens. something like (1) hood (1) nico minoru (1) iceman (1) squirrel girl (2) dazzler (2) goose (2) armor (2) mysterio (3) shanna (4) moon girl (4) gwenpool (5) mockingbird fill up the board a little on turns 1-3, and set up your hand with cheap stuff to duplicate (mysterio, mockingbird, dazzler, demon are all good targets). squirrel girl and shanna to discount mockingbird. gwenpool on 4, moon girl on 5 is ideal, but it’s also ok to do them in the other order, or if you just get one and not the other. i play similar lists (i’ve gotten to infinite multiple times with a deck that swaps out this gwenpool package for sunspot + she-hulk) and i think this will be a serious upgrade. the best part about the strategy is that you hide a huge amount of stats in your hand to make a huge board swing on turn 6. seems fun at least.
Ajax is just garbage, honestly. Luke Cage is everywhere now, and at least present enough on ladder that decks that revolve around sapping power are pretty useless when you match into him. He gains zero benefit from sapping your own cards (essentially having zero effect besides consolidating that power to one card, which is terrible) and your opponent plays Cage and he’s just a 4/4. Wildly awful. He will absolutely be buffed
It’s going to be less than every 10 games where he can even get to 10 power, which is pretty much the relevant benchmark for 4 costs now that don’t have alternate strong effects. Beyond trash
Hydra bob sounds like the worst card of the season. Your giving your opponents control to manipulate cards. This card gonna lose people a lot of matches. Bob is almost as bad as Agatha tbh

Gwenpool was much better when dhe was the lower cost but i guess there's ways around it like zabu and psylocke to get her out sooner. With that said ill get her because she has potential. Hydra bob looks unplayable besides maybe in zoo decks. He was better st 2/5 with that other ability. I think ajax should be great for toxic decks or high evo. Copy cat is interesting and might be my favorite card in the boxes next season. But I'm not sure if she's as great as you think.

There are plenty of "busted combos" that involve Wong - but they aren't consistent. You're probably better off doing toxic surfer Wong>Ironheart>Surfer still. Gwenpool might have a high ceiling with perfect draws and hits, but I'm not evaluating her on the perfect exodia draws combo. What deck do you think is a realistic home for her?

That means your playing a turn 5 brood, she costs too much for her effect to be reliable.

You are right, Casandra nova is going to be crazy against Arishem. Casandra, Darkhawk, Mystique...those cards are going to be insane(r) soon.

@@ydgmdlu I don't build a lot of complex combo decks, so I don't think it will be "very likely" it won't synergize. I also still face a lot Tribunal and Hela decks that try to dig for the last card with Jubilee and Iron Lad, plus a lot of decks with Magik, so the last cards are often important.

@@ydgmdlu Hmm let's say you have Copy Cat in hand by turn 3. Likely, your board isn't clogged at all yet. She copies Venom: no downside except possibly giving them a destroy trigger. That's Fine I'm probably running Mobius too.
Carnage: fine. Deathlok: fine. Death: amazing! Knull: amazing! Killmonger: probably bad, but could save till turn 6 to off their Deadpool. Zola: potentially great, maybe bad, usually neutral. Bucky: neutral. X-23: usually neutral, sometimes a lane winner. Nico: great. Hulk Buster: hilarious.
The later you draw her, in this scenario, the worse she becomes with a random destroy card, but also most of my games I don't play my entire hand out. She's got way more upside than downside.
Ajax shouldn’t lose his buffs with luke cage. The cards are still inflicted. It’s just that their stats aren’t lowered, so Ajax will still work. At least this is how I believe it will work based on how mechanics in the game function.
I believe afflicted is looking at current visible stats - if you hit your opponents cards with negative power and then they play Luke Cage, your High Evo evolved Abomination won't get discounted?
That is my understanding. But if I'm wrong then Ajax does seem a lot better with that interaction.

@Docty Two questions I have:
(1) Does Hydra Bob move after every turn if there was a snap before but not in that current turn? If I snap turn 1 does he keep moving around like Silk until the end of the game?
(2) Luke Cage's ability is "Ongoing: Your cards can't have their power reduced." So is there a possibility that your Typhoid Mary/Ajax combo could work if Luke is played turn 6? Which Ongoing ability takes priority? Ajax's or Luke's?

Just my opinion, but I think if Copycat’s stats is lower than 3/5, she will be a bad card.
She looks good now cause that stats makes her floor decent, if she loses the stats she will usually end up been an unplayable card cause you can’t control what text she will steal.
Normally, there are just few cards serves as a “key winning condition” in one deck, so the chance to steal exactly that card is not high.
For the current stats, I think Copycat is just a fine card. I don’t think she is good enough to compete with Nocturne or Red Gradient, but yes, she will be a good cube stealing card.
If you play Ajax on 5, and Hazmat on turn 6 with a full board on both sides, wouldn’t Ajax have the potential to be a 5 cost 28 power card? Isn’t that good?
But you're stealing power away from your other cards. That's removing 11 power from your board to give Ajax 11 power - net zero power.
The only real benefit is Aiax gaining power from hitting your opponent's cards and however many they play will vary.

Couldn't you just play bigger combos on Wong? Namora, Ironheart, Surfer, Hazmat, etc.
Wong has so many huge potential combos - why is Gwenpool worth it for Wong?
Copycat seems pretty good but the 3 drop spot for a lot of decks is soooo tight. I'll be interested to see of shes better than nocturne or red guardian in most decks

Luke cage prevents your cards from having their power lowered. If you raise ajax's power with typhoid Mary, it shouldn't be reduced when you push Luke Cage.

Im excited for Copycat. Obviously you could get some terrible RNG and steal the Destroyer text lol. But, most of the time, even if the ability you steal is a dud, you still played a 3-5 that got you some valuable information
She grabs the ability on draw. So if you get Destroyer's text, you don't even have to play her. While the opponent may now have a safe 6/16 to play, they likely built a deck around Destroyer to begin with, so its still a valuable steal.

Gwenpool is a jacked version of Iron Heart. She will be ridiculous in Wong decks.
Ironheart and Gwenpool both give +2 Power 3 times, but Ironheart hits cards already on the board so you always see the power come down.
What if you Wong+Gwenpool but then can't play all the cards she buffed?
@@docty_snap It could prompt using Zabu and Psylocke to cheat out Gwen or Wong on turn 3. Similar to the Wong/Surfer decks with Mr. Negative.
Run Sera and Magik to extend the game so you can dump out 3 cards on turn 7. The potential is there, much like Phastos it's all dependent on getting it out on curve.
Maybe, but if we are going for full exodia combo stuff then Wong > Surfer/Hazmat > Odin just seems more consistently powerful to me.

Yes, how that interaction works with Ajax will be a huge factor for how good he is or not.
This isn’t the case with Evo Abom when your opponent drops Luke Cage (he loses his cost discount) so I don’t think it could possibly be different for Ajax.

The max reward is for the variant. You get the free card much earlier - it's genuinely free and their are event floors to prevent losing points in the event🙂

Honestly the OTAS are a double edged sword. They kill cards you've dropped 6k and they're like SORRY NOT SORRY , and then when a card is under/OP they're like "we were incompetent in the balancing department and we want more money" BUFF 😂 pretty scummy imo. They're always safe and they have no accountability. It's such a cheap safe net but then again on the flip side some cards that need love do get it like vulture or Herc

The last time they gave out a free card was Kitty Pryde last year - I don't think they keep giving out free cards each season.

hear me out: gwenpool moon girl zoo. she turns mysterio into a 2/6 and two 2/2s. you build it to have a low curve with lots of tokens. something like
(1) hood
(1) nico minoru
(1) iceman
(1) squirrel girl
(2) dazzler
(2) goose
(2) armor
(2) mysterio
(3) shanna
(4) moon girl
(4) gwenpool
(5) mockingbird
fill up the board a little on turns 1-3, and set up your hand with cheap stuff to duplicate (mysterio, mockingbird, dazzler, demon are all good targets). squirrel girl and shanna to discount mockingbird. gwenpool on 4, moon girl on 5 is ideal, but it’s also ok to do them in the other order, or if you just get one and not the other.
i play similar lists (i’ve gotten to infinite multiple times with a deck that swaps out this gwenpool package for sunspot + she-hulk) and i think this will be a serious upgrade. the best part about the strategy is that you hide a huge amount of stats in your hand to make a huge board swing on turn 6. seems fun at least.

Ajax is just garbage, honestly. Luke Cage is everywhere now, and at least present enough on ladder that decks that revolve around sapping power are pretty useless when you match into him. He gains zero benefit from sapping your own cards (essentially having zero effect besides consolidating that power to one card, which is terrible) and your opponent plays Cage and he’s just a 4/4. Wildly awful. He will absolutely be buffed
It’s going to be less than every 10 games where he can even get to 10 power, which is pretty much the relevant benchmark for 4 costs now that don’t have alternate strong effects. Beyond trash

Gwenpool was much better when dhe was the lower cost but i guess there's ways around it like zabu and psylocke to get her out sooner. With that said ill get her because she has potential. Hydra bob looks unplayable besides maybe in zoo decks. He was better st 2/5 with that other ability. I think ajax should be great for toxic decks or high evo. Copy cat is interesting and might be my favorite card in the boxes next season. But I'm not sure if she's as great as you think.

Dude Gwenpool is a 4/12 that you can choose the targets, so in reality she's even better than that. She seems crazy strong to me.

Really showing the lack of imagination with the Gwenpool take. Theres so many busted combos you can do. Cost redux and copy abilities, not to mention Wong work crazy good with this ability.
There are plenty of "busted combos" that involve Wong - but they aren't consistent. You're probably better off doing toxic surfer Wong>Ironheart>Surfer still.
Gwenpool might have a high ceiling with perfect draws and hits, but I'm not evaluating her on the perfect exodia draws combo.
What deck do you think is a realistic home for her?
