I found the sacrifice scene you’re talking about, but didn’t see anything in Hiro’s eyes the whole scene. It’s also not visible at any point unless you use a huge zoom in if it even existed.
They actually explain why San Fransisco looks like that. it's because after the Earthquake in 1906 Japan helped re-build the city and a large population of Japanese people emigrated to the new city. And in honor of Japan, they renamed the city San Fransokyo.

I know this video was made years ago, however; 9:33 If I were a villain and I threw a gigantic rock wall at someone or watched their car sink under the ocean, I wouldn’t check to see if they were alive either. Those are both situations in which normal people would most likely die. Note: the only reason they survived those two times are because of Baymax, who the villain doesn’t know has fighting techniques on these occasions. Calihan ( idk how to spell his name and I’m too lazy to look it up..) just knows Baymax as a health care robot. So he probably just expected them all to be dead.

I'm surprised he missed the biggest plot hole in this movie. How was Baymax still good Baymax when he palmed his healthcare chip in the fist he shot out with Hiro? And when did he palm it? There was no time for him to do that when he got hit.

Ruler3995 The way I see it is that Baymax made one last executable order to ignite the thruster in his arm when hero said he was satisfied with his care, then removed the chip. That way, It didn't matter if the other chip was still on, he was running on a command of higher authority. So maybe he went all red eyes crazy bonkers after the arm started moving, but Hiro would have crossed the portal before noticing anything.
There's a sin you missed - after 8:38, hiro and baymax chilled on top of the golden gate bridge just before scanning, and the robot suddenly said "if you're satisfied with your care I can deactivate" Dude, how was hiro supposed to fly back home if he deactivates baymax up there
Baymax isn't able to comprehend that. He is a medical robot designed only to assist in the medical needs of his patients. Robots are limited to the capacity of their creators and can't anticipate him being needed at the top of a bridge support structure. Baymax's job was to assist with Hiro's pubescent mood swings, and his elevated levels of happiness (I forget the technical name) suggests that his job has been completed.
Actually, the second "sin" could be argued that it's just a unique characteristic. 13:09 they weren’t acting as if they couldn’t build a new one, chances are all the memory that has happened since Tadashi has died which means if they were to rebuild him which would be hard in itself but possible he would not remember them like that robot in “next gen” and with the sentimental value they had with this robot that would be the equivalent of their best friend getting memory loss and forgetting everything that happens after they met you and meeting you.
I think the biggest failing in this movie is how the "friends" are introduced. We meet them for the first time and they already act like they are Hiro's best friends. Why are they risking their lives for him? It's not that the movie would be better without them, I thought their powers were super cool. It's just that I feel this kind of "Hero group" dynamic fits better into an episodic tv series or even a movie series. Like if we met the friends in this movie and this movie was about how they became friends and formed a bond, and then the second movie was about how they become a super hero group. They needed more time to work on characterization
i think it's because they were all great friends of tadashi, and hiro was just easy to become friends with since they're brothers. also, with the whole 'helping hiro out after they just met him', they say in the movie that they want to do it for tadashi. thats just my opinion, but i do kind of see where you're coming from.
Emily Nicole as someone who has both older and younger siblings, I find it VERY hard to see them easily becoming friends with him just because they were brothers. I never get along with any of my sibling's friends. I can't really see them wanting to comfort Hiro because of their friendship with Tadashi either. How close were they really with Tadashi if that time at school was the first ever time that Hiro met them or heard about them? Like he never invited them over to his place or said "oh hey, I'm going to hang out with my friends, want to come?". Still doesn't really explain why they're risking death and dismemberment. basically they do it because plot.
I'm best friends with my sister's friends. It all just depends on how well you get along and how much the friends know your siblings. They wanted to do it for Samadhi, because that's what friends do. Considering he was prominently featured on each cover of the _Tony Hawk's Pro Skater_ -series and also appeared in the media quite a lot I would say the amount of people who are absolutely clueless about what he looks like while still knowing the name is relatively small.

Not only did he leave the neurotransmitter, he left the *_mircobots!_* And he did so right after they refused to sell them to an "I always get what I want" style executive. Sure, he wasn't the one who ended up stealing them, but they still should have been cautious about protecting them.

Am I the only one that thinks Bamax's sacrifice was really unnecessary? All he had to do was deflate and let Hiro grab any part of him before blasting his fist away and boom, everyone survives. The end.
I have to agree and disagree with this comment. Yes Bamax could have tried to do something else to save himself, but u do remember that Bamax isn't the most intelligent (Well he is, but he lacks it at times). Also deflating himself would have made him heavier. Air makes him lighter, but Hiro still could not pull him up. It is kind of like how a balloon.

Also, he's a robot, self-preservation (if it wouldn't require injury to come to humans) is one of the basic programming laws for utility robots.

Well, if he wants any company to take him with seriously, they need him to have some sort of degree. And colleges may not be all that useful knowledge wise, but they are extremely useful CONNECTIONS wise. Getting to know people in the industry, learning right terminology to share the same language, finding potential co-founders and stuff. How many modern corporation were founded as bunch of college friends? A lot of of them actually. And about superheroes thing - well, city this big might have a lot of petty crimes going on, considering how empty their police station are.
Nah, see when he wants a job, he can be all like: "Well... I invented the microbots and revolutionised the way we live. You know, like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates (who also didn't get degrees)." Although Big Hero 6 could've given Tadashi Hamada more screen time because of how three-dimensional and original he is, the death of Tadashi Hamada is what made us love Big Hero 6 because it made the story emotional, ballsy and with a positive message.

I would have pieced together the fact that Abigail was his daughter just from those things, and I'm not a genius like Hirp

Possibly, but all the microbots were tied up holding it up. If he pulled them off to lower it, they'd have just been sucked into the portal. He'd probably lose control of the portal killing himself as well. Or because plot...
Well, I saw the change in hours. One moment, it's like morning, then it's almost night. It must have been very long, especially because he was only showing them he could fly. He didn't tell his friends he was going to scan the city.
I am greatly surprised you didn't include sins of Hiro looking away that ONE moment before they crashed, and the fact that Baymax managed to somehow stow away his chip to Hiro when he could've actually just given it to him right then and there. Well played nevertheless.
There's also the fact that when Baymax was showing off the rocket fist for the first time, he was able to activate the thrusters before actually releasing the fist. If that were still that case later in the film, he could have just activated the thrusters and held on.
And that for a smart kid, he doesn't understand that for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction and that an object will continue in motion until acted upon by outside force which there are none of in space so Baymax's "save the day" was completely unnecessary.

There actually is a backstory. After a huge earthquake, The Japanese pitched into redesigning and rebuilding San Fransisco with more earthquake resistant architecture, and to commemorate them they renamed the city.

I gotta defend Baymax and Hiro's flying around before flying into the portal. It clearly has an incredible pull and essentially pulling in one direction, so if they were to fly straight into it at the angle they were originally, the sudden and extreme pull that would hit them would undoubtedly injure or even kill them, so adjusting a flight course to fly directly in the direction of the pull makes sense.
You forgot this part: If Baymax put his chip into his glove, why didn't he just say to Hiro "I am going to put my chip in my glove when I launch you. Rebuild a body for me and I'll be back to my old self?" Would have saved so much heartbreak.
Also, the first time baymax removed his good healthcare chip, he went berserk and tried to kill the masked guy. Why didn't he go beserk the second time?

If it's a good song from the old days like, Sugar We're Going Down, or What A Catch, Donnie, which had actual instruments. But they used Immortals, which fell to the same mistake as the Youngblood Chronicles, and continued with the same mistake as in Centuries, Uma Thurman, and Irresistible, using way, way too many computer-generated music. I mean, I don't complain if kids grew up listening to FOB rather than Let It Go, I'm down with rock over pop, but their songs today are just too lazy. It doesn't have the same amount of charm, punk, and taste it had.

And one more sin for Hiro deciding to keep Baymax to himself, instead of selling the concept and having him mass produced, thus doing infinately more good in the world than he can ever hope to accomplish running around doing heroics.
But the whole point of the film is that Hiro and the gang don't want to profit from their inventions, they just pursue their personal science interests with faintly philanthropic goals. But I totes agree there was no point in him keeping Baymax a secret from his aunt, especially since we see the three of them watching TV together in the end credits.
That and this was an invention that his brother worked really hard on. He is a young teen getting over the dead of his older brother, his only brother, and he probably wanted to hold onto it because it was a memory of Tadashi (sorry if I spelled the name wrong.)
He's a asshole. His brother wanted to help people, Tadashi worked really hard to create something good for the humanity and all that Hiro does with it is playing hero and even tried to transform a healthy care robot into a killing weapon.

@@josiah9663 They had no true evidence- they didn't know who he was, they didn't know where his lair was, they had no way of following him when he crashed their car- really all they had was a really bad picture of him in his mask. Besides, it's not like he could recognize Baymax under all that armor. And if he WAS trying to kill them, there was nothing he could do to make sure they were dead. They were in the ocean and he had no swimgear, plus he was making a getaway and crunched for time.

They actually explain why San Fransisco looks like that. it's because after the Earthquake in 1906 Japan helped re-build the city and a large population of Japanese people emigrated to the new city. And in honor of Japan, they renamed the city San Fransokyo.

Note: the only reason they survived those two times are because of Baymax, who the villain doesn’t know has fighting techniques on these occasions. Calihan ( idk how to spell his name and I’m too lazy to look it up..) just knows Baymax as a health care robot. So he probably just expected them all to be dead.

Ruler3995 The way I see it is that Baymax made one last executable order to ignite the thruster in his arm when hero said he was satisfied with his care, then removed the chip. That way, It didn't matter if the other chip was still on, he was running on a command of higher authority. So maybe he went all red eyes crazy bonkers after the arm started moving, but Hiro would have crossed the portal before noticing anything.

13:09 they weren’t acting as if they couldn’t build a new one, chances are all the memory that has happened since Tadashi has died which means if they were to rebuild him which would be hard in itself but possible he would not remember them like that robot in “next gen” and with the sentimental value they had with this robot that would be the equivalent of their best friend getting memory loss and forgetting everything that happens after they met you and meeting you.
I think the biggest failing in this movie is how the "friends" are introduced. We meet them for the first time and they already act like they are Hiro's best friends. Why are they risking their lives for him? It's not that the movie would be better without them, I thought their powers were super cool. It's just that I feel this kind of "Hero group" dynamic fits better into an episodic tv series or even a movie series. Like if we met the friends in this movie and this movie was about how they became friends and formed a bond, and then the second movie was about how they become a super hero group.

i think it's because they were all great friends of tadashi, and hiro was just easy to become friends with since they're brothers. also, with the whole 'helping hiro out after they just met him', they say in the movie that they want to do it for tadashi. thats just my opinion, but i do kind of see where you're coming from.
Emily Nicole as someone who has both older and younger siblings, I find it VERY hard to see them easily becoming friends with him just because they were brothers. I never get along with any of my sibling's friends.
I can't really see them wanting to comfort Hiro because of their friendship with Tadashi either. How close were they really with Tadashi if that time at school was the first ever time that Hiro met them or heard about them? Like he never invited them over to his place or said "oh hey, I'm going to hang out with my friends, want to come?". Still doesn't really explain why they're risking death and dismemberment.

I have to agree and disagree with this comment. Yes Bamax could have tried to do something else to save himself, but u do remember that Bamax isn't the most intelligent (Well he is, but he lacks it at times). Also deflating himself would have made him heavier. Air makes him lighter, but Hiro still could not pull him up. It is kind of like how a balloon.

I am greatly surprised you didn't include sins of Hiro looking away that ONE moment before they crashed, and the fact that Baymax managed to somehow stow away his chip to Hiro when he could've actually just given it to him right then and there.

There's also the fact that when Baymax was showing off the rocket fist for the first time, he was able to activate the thrusters before actually releasing the fist. If that were still that case later in the film, he could have just activated the thrusters and held on.

And that for a smart kid, he doesn't understand that for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction and that an object will continue in motion until acted upon by outside force which there are none of in space so Baymax's "save the day" was completely unnecessary.

There actually is a backstory. After a huge earthquake, The Japanese pitched into redesigning and rebuilding San Fransisco with more earthquake resistant architecture, and to commemorate them they renamed the city.

I gotta defend Baymax and Hiro's flying around before flying into the portal.
It clearly has an incredible pull and essentially pulling in one direction, so if they were to fly straight into it at the angle they were originally, the sudden and extreme pull that would hit them would undoubtedly injure or even kill them, so adjusting a flight course to fly directly in the direction of the pull makes sense.
You forgot this part:
If Baymax put his chip into his glove, why didn't he just say to Hiro "I am going to put my chip in my glove when I launch you. Rebuild a body for me and I'll be back to my old self?"

@blacknaifu1 the awesome That _would_ be the case, if the arm didn't have thrusters in it, it's not a gun, it's propelling itself by exerting a force against the air(?) with the thrusters, it can do that even when detached from the big robot that's allegedly very lightweight because he's made from carbon fiber and a balloon.

If it's a good song from the old days like, Sugar We're Going Down, or What A Catch, Donnie, which had actual instruments. But they used Immortals, which fell to the same mistake as the Youngblood Chronicles, and continued with the same mistake as in Centuries, Uma Thurman, and Irresistible, using way, way too many computer-generated music. I mean, I don't complain if kids grew up listening to FOB rather than Let It Go, I'm down with rock over pop, but their songs today are just too lazy. It doesn't have the same amount of charm, punk, and taste it had.

It took me a couple years after the movie came out to realize there wasn’t a big hero 5, 4, etc
And one more sin for Hiro deciding to keep Baymax to himself, instead of selling the concept and having him mass produced, thus doing infinately more good in the world than he can ever hope to accomplish running around doing heroics.
But the whole point of the film is that Hiro and the gang don't want to profit from their inventions, they just pursue their personal science interests with faintly philanthropic goals. But I totes agree there was no point in him keeping Baymax a secret from his aunt, especially since we see the three of them watching TV together in the end credits.
That and this was an invention that his brother worked really hard on. He is a young teen getting over the dead of his older brother, his only brother, and he probably wanted to hold onto it because it was a memory of Tadashi (sorry if I spelled the name wrong.)
He's a asshole. His brother wanted to help people, Tadashi worked really hard to create something good for the humanity and all that Hiro does with it is playing hero and even tried to transform a healthy care robot into a killing weapon.

Besides, it's not like he could recognize Baymax under all that armor. And if he WAS trying to kill them, there was nothing he could do to make sure they were dead. They were in the ocean and he had no swimgear, plus he was making a getaway and crunched for time.
