- The new set of Disney's TCG Lorcana is out and with it a brand new way to play. The Deep Trouble game mode sees you team up with fellow Illumineers as you try to take down the evil sea witch Ursula in co-op gameplay. We got hands on with the new decks and sat down to see how it plays. Will we beat her or will we meet a watery grave?

I was looking through my subscription list and saw Dicebreaker. Clicked and of course no new videos uploaded. I first stumbled upon this channel and the website for that matter because I wanted to get into ttrpgs, and stayed because of the awesome vibes. It was released to Local Game Stores recently, and it will get a wide release to major stores on May 31st
Hello! Thanks for the gameplay video @Dicebreaker! To confirm, Ursula doesn’t get to draw a starting hand then? In the rules, my wife and I thought she does because of the tip where it says that effects that says “player” could target her and the setup says that players draw their starting hand. Also in the altering hand section where it says that “but she doesn’t bother” I thought it meant that she doesn’t bother to do so with her own starting hand.
We are not English native speakers so I really appreciate the help!
She DOES get a starting hand. And that would have made a big difference in the video here.
What does the 6 or less part in the capsize card mean? Is it referring to Ursula's deck or yours

Just heard the news that the Dicbreakers is no more and you all have been made redundant. 😢. As a 60yo Australian who started role-playing in the early 1980's without the internet , the recent years have provided a great number of different review and discussion sites that are mostly from the USA so it's been refreshing to see your commentary on games from the UK along with the "Shut up and Sit down" guys.
You will be missed and hopefully I will find you back in action somewhere soon.
Could you play this as a 3 player? Where someone plays as Ursula and looks at the cards in hand and chooses what to Ink?
Can I use a different deck instead of the premade ones in this game? I have 4 players who want to play, and we're wondering if we can each use a different deck.
yes you can. it's in the games description :)
even so, the description advises you to make your own deck if you try the extreme mode

I've just played it. i did so bad, wondering what i did wrong. i thought ursula got to draw 7 cards asswell XD
Agreed - When I read the instructions, it sounds like Ursula (another ‘player’) should also draw a hand before we start (because it specifically says she doesn’t bother with Mulligan). I found this made it EXTREMELY difficult even on ‘normal’ mode. I then tried it as you did, with her not having an initial hand, and just doing the draw number toward the end of her turn. That seemed easier.
I wonder what the official is supposed to be?
Ursula doesn't get a starting hand of 7. Other than special items or abilities, she only draws during her draw phase. That's what the setup states, not explicitly, but as the only time that she draws.

@@nathanrhoades6504 the rules do state TIP: an effect on one of your cards that refers to a 'player' can be used on Ursula. This makes it confusing as well as specifically mentioning ursula's doesn't bother with mulligan. Terrible rule writing
@@tomhermens3565 that isn’t very confusing. They included a rule that cards that refer to a player work on Ursula. That rule is only needed because she is not a player.
Is this a good value? Do you get decent cards to use in the regular game ? Or is it kinda like starter deck power levels?
You actually get a decent amount of rares, I was pleasantly surprised by the decks in the set! - Maddie
You get a legendary in each of the two player decks of the game set. So, with that alone, much better than a starter deck.
For Ursula’s contract, I thought the players get to choose to banish the item when they want since it’s an option
no it says blpck abilities then crack for 3 lore after. no choice. unlesss u play a card thas banishes it before it cracks for lore
Does Ursula’s Deck get shuffled or does it have a certain set up?
Never mind, I saw you shuffle the deck, later in the video and saying it wasn’t shuffled well.

Really excited to hear you on this, but please check your mic inputs (which seems good) but when mixing it, check your output because you sound quiet.

FYI, in a 2 player game, Ursula draws an additional card when she reaches 10 and 30 lore. You only had her drawing 2 cards for the entire game :P
They were playing the easy version of the game, which doesn't have Ursula get her bonus draws
Yeah we were on easy mode! Keeping it tight for a let's play and to not have lovely Ben from Ravensburger waiting around for us to finish for too long

@user-qu3qv7gz4d It does, but if you read the battleground card for the easy mode of the game (which they were playing for the video), it doesn't let Ursula draw on the lore milestones

In the beginning of the video he mentioned they’re playing on easy mode, which means Ursula only draws 2. ☺️

You were supposed to increase to drawing 3 cards for Ursula's hand after Ursula got to 10 lore fyi.
No in the easy mode which is what we were playing!
@@dicebreaker Interesting I did not know what that line meant on the Battleground. I just figured since the Hard and extreme said that you draw an extra card it was a redundant statement but seeing the normal says nothing about card draw then your interpretation make sense. I guess I have just been paying on Normal difficulty and didn't know it.
@@uteprideraidernation I'm pretty sure you are correct and she should get another card at 10 and 20. It's pretty straight forward in the instructions. I think when you play the hard or extreme Battleground with 2 players she starts the game by drawing 3 instead of the 2 if you are playing on the easy or normal Battleground.
Cheats, Ursula should have drawn so many more cards xD After 10 lore, it's 3 cards drawn and after 30, it's 4

The game is barely out and established and they've already made a completely different coop/board game boss rush game mode? Why? Talk about lacking focus.

It’s nice for people who prefer coop. Let alone people who like playing solo. ☺️
Also a nice way for casual players to enjoy the game, I’m all for things like this
I see it as a good alternative to the standard play and a good multiplayer gateway into the game, especially for those that have difficulty going the regular game.
Plus it’s not as if this was something released every set. If the card numbers for the gold-backs are any indication, this likely would be something released every 4th set as a thematic conclusion to this specific saga.
It's nice for those of us that have no other players at home to practice with. I'm enjoying the game play.
