A player can catch the ball into 2 steps before they establish they pivot and hang dribbling allows a person to take more steps with less dribbles!!! Some of these aren’t even travels and a good bit of the step counters are off
I remember watching the USA men's team at the 2012 Olympics and found it amazing that professional NBA players could get some many calls for basics, like travelling. Then you see videos like this showing how much they get away with and just how sloppy the officiating is.

Refs are actually schooled by committee on what to call and what to let slide. For example, watch any game 6 of an NBA final and you'll see how harsh they are on the team that can close out, it's better for business if there's a game 7.

Traveling and carrying. My God, there's this kid at my gym who literally dribbles by putting his hand under the ball, cups it, rotates the ball all the way over so that his hand is now on top. It's been about 8yrs since I played regularly but we were hard as hell on travelling. The up and down was always one that we called. But sliding the pivot foot a few inches was alright if the other team made you move.
