Am I the only one who thinks Enslaved lost their focus? I feel like the consistency has been evacuated from the process of the songwriting, from the moment Herbrand Larsen left the band and Hakon Vinje got in. I feel like I'm not listening to the same band anymore. Without even speaking of abandoning the extreme component (say the pounding of the blast beats and the butt freezing tremolo strumming, where are they?) , I feel like the identity, that special relevant quality of writing a condensed, sort of uncompromising guitar driven style, is gone. How can they play such goofy grooves on nearly every song and still be acclaimed, like nothing happened? Why does the proggy side have to come in such a demonstrative and systematic way? What happened of the diversity of dynamics, beats, tempos, emotions? Can we do without every new Nord keyboard soundbank update? Who gives a damn really? Can you guies give us some actual riffs? May we have a chance to discern a story from another?
