I actually had this problem with my old V8 Absolute 1 year ago. It had this problem, so I took it to the Dyson service Center 30 min away from me and it was a problem with the motor. They were gonna charge me literally $200! I instead told them no thank you and I went to Costco to get myself a brand new Dyson V11 Torque Drive +. As soon as I saw ur vid, I tried mine out and it doesn’t work at all now. Glad I spent $699 and got a brand new Dyson instead! 😅
Dyson stick vacuums has limited warranty for a good reason. Even consumer reports no longer recommend those. You get 2-4 years out of them. Absolutely shocking when those cost over 600€.
You can't trust any of them anymore. I brought a Miele C1 Jubliee a couple of years ago and it's essentially falling apart plastics wise. Sebo is probably the most reliable brand here in the UK now.
I’ve had this issue with brand new dyson motor replacements. One of them is still in use with the same issue for about three years now, still works fine
This did happen to me too, mine functioned as intended, however did make this sound. Eventually, it completely stopped working. But definitely was quite unusual. But I'd say a motor replacement would be the most logical thing to do
I wonder if this is a circuit board issue? Cheap capacitors of any kind can degrade extremely quickly causing them not to have the same smoothing effect making the system unreliable therefore meaning theres random peaks and dips in voltages which means chips and other components can't operate properly. Considering that Dyson is trying to make these machines for as cheaply as possible and mark them up a ridiculous amount I wouldn't be shocked as Apple has also had this problem with their MacBook's recently.
I’m surprised that that other V8 you have hasn’t developed a motor fault as the motor sounds rough when it’s shutting down. The one you have with the light blue transparent post motor filter and star filter.
Hey Parwaz, I’m currently fixing a Dyson DC50, I am doing a cord replacement but I am really struggling with the switches and parts since I took it out, mostly putting the actual switch back into its small caddy with two springs either side. Do you think you could possibly do a video on it? Thanks.
@@AverageReviewsYT I remember that, but he never took apart the switch, and that is the trouble that I'm having, putting it back together, there's a little plastic part it sits in with two springs and I can't et it to sit inside of it comfortably at all.
You're right, modern Dyson's are depressingly unreliable and i've been saying this for ages. There are a multitude of things that can go wrong on these from lose battery connectors inside the machine that cause high amperage wires to arc against connector screws inside the machine causing lose connections to the circuit boards, not having/having bad conformal coating (which is a coating that's meant to protect against dust & water on circuit boards) that causes tiny bits of dust to get in there and short. You're honestly better off getting a new machine as new motors are even more unreliable as they're made by cheap Chinese 3rd parties and are sketchy.
kinda bummed because my 2023 v8 is doing this now so if it doesnt work im gonna buy a new body for it , also is the new v8 more quiter than the old v8?
Sounds like the impeller is getting stuck and the motor is still spinning but sometimes the impeller gets caught on the motor shaft and works like normal till it does it again.
I'm not sure what you mean by "impeller" as brushless motors work off of electromagnets and sensors instead of physical mechanical carbon brushes that can get stuck.
@@stickvac I realise, but these don't have impellers. The suction fan if you will is attached inside the motors main body and physically can't get stuck as again it's magnetised.
To be fair, these motors spin insanely fast, but that's still not exactly something I've ever seen before from my own old and crusty V8. This sounds like a motor control unit failure, similar to the electric motors used on model airplanes and such. The control unit could have difficulty getting the motor actually up to speed, not realizing that the startup phase is already complete and just spinning at low RPMs and completely giving up. (Genuinely never even knew this was an issue on some V8s, mine just has a really bad battery drainage issue.)
How have your Dysons been unreliable? I have never seen you post or talk about your personal newer machines breaking on this channel much if ever. Also you just need a new main body which is pretty easy and inexpensive fix.
The wheel on my V15 snapped off despite it being a relatively new floortool (which I used for about a month or two), I thought nothing of it thinking it was a one off, until I started hearing more about it, I then realised it was a common issue with the quality of them now The motors aren’t as reliable either now sadly, the V6 was a very reliable machine (motor wise), but there seems to be more motor faults with the newer cordless Dysons unfortunately I still believe Dyson is king in the cordless vacuum world, but they need to be more reliable, because they work really well. With their amazing cyclone technology, ultra powerful, lightweight digital motors, evenly balanced weight, ease of use and all the incredible technology they have
@parwaz7861 I've never heard of motors going bad. I have heard of the triggers failing causing the unit to not turn on and people putting wet filters in their units. But yes the ball shall breaking off of the V15 and Gen 5 is a known issue that I've heard they have corrected
@@Tar0245So do you actually think that it is acceptable for an expensive product like a Dyson to experience trigger problems?!? That shows you have a very low standard then! New Dyson’s are known to be unreliable with the wheels snapping off the motorbar cleaner heads on the V15 and Gen5! Don’t believe me, look at the reviews on the Dyson website showing broken wheels on the Gen5 reviews! I myself have had wheel snap off a V15 within a few months. Plastic parts snap and break! It’s absolutely appalling really when brands like SEBO and Miele one can get parts for over 20 years. Dyson plastic is so thin and fragile, it’s easy to break one if a user is a bit heavy handed. I would not agree that it’s inexpensive to replace the motor on a V8!
