It was great series, I love that it finished all unanswered questions from Negima and offered solid conclusion :D All characters had great progression and properly balanced screen time :) I am shocked Akamatsu-sensei managed to memorise all this story though, as it was very complex with all timelines x-x
When I was reading the final arcs of UQ Holder a question came to me "Has Akamatsu been diagnosed with terminal stage cancer ?" Turns out I wasn't too far from the truth. In July, he was elected as a diet member in Japan's parliament and that explains so much. This is the story of a guy who loves manga but knows this will probably be the last piece they will ever write. And so he puts everything in EVERY. FUCKING. THING. There is no word to explain how dense the 30 or so last chapters of UQ Holder are. This was always a fast-paced series but, just like Touta, it apparently learned to go lightning speed at some point. And it's not just about the pace of the plot. Akamatsu puts in so many ideas and characters in... The romantic relationship between immortals, Karin's voyage in space, Touta's 2 years journey through the Earth, Gengoro's whole isekai backstory... I could go on and on. All of which could be expanded so much. It's almost a running gag at this point how many times something very big is mentioned and then immediately glossed over with "that would take at least 5 manga volumes to explain" because it's true. And the madness is... It's all good. Despite throwing everything including the kitchen sink at us, Akamatsu manages to make it all feel interesting, intriguing and connected, mostly thanks to Akamatsu's mastery of paneling and chapter flow and because the concepts he touches on are generally great ideas that do deserve attention. But none of it is truly developed. UQ Holder might be the most... undiluted manga I've ever read. So much in so little time. It's not just that I'd wish some of these ideas had more time to breath. At some time I, the reader, needed time to breath. This is all so much info to take in, I genuinely had to take breaks every few chapters before it hurt my head. And that's frustrating because hidden in these chapters might be the best manga ever. A high concept sci-fi/fantasy epic like no other. Both grand and developed like One Piece while having the depth and complexity of a HunterXHunter. But instead we got the back of the cover summary of that. That's frustrating. And yet I still love it. I love that madness and I love the potential I see in it but I can't help but feel disappointed that I read the 200 chapters version of a manga that, by all means, should have been 600 chapters long.
I hope Akamatsu-sensei will continue this universe :) Love Hina, AI, Negima, UQ Holder took place in the same universe and it was nice to witness many cameos and easter eggs. I would prefer not a direct sequel like Negima and UQ Holder though. Just some other story, set in same universe but focusing on completely new characters and plot. Only adding cameos and easter eggs.
Only one plot hole is present for me: Mizore. Why did Ken have her die so young? In the original Negima story, she lived long enough to become a grandmother. Mind you both she and her granddaughter didn't get a name drop but said granddaughter greeted Asuna before she went back in time. The granddaughter should have been proof alone that Mizore lived to a great old age just like her great grandmother.
Not really a plothole, just an unexplained thing. There are a lot more. Who exactly were Touta's parents for instance and why did they die ? What was Sidestick exactly and why did Albiero create it ? What happened to other immortals like Chachamaru or Sayo in the 12 000 years at the end ? What happened to Filius Zect after everyone was freed from Ialda ? (shout out to anyone who recognizes that name) I could go on. The manga glossed over a lot of things. There are very few actual plotholes in Negima/UQ though, both because Akamatsu is a very careful writer and because his universe is vast and diverse enough to accommodate reasonable explanations for pretty much everything. Although if you want one... The seventh spell Negi learned as a child was Manus Ialdae that he planned to use to seal the demons who destroyed his village. How and where did he learn such an advanced and secret spell in the Welsh countryside ? That one just doesn't make sense to me...
It sucks what happened to Kirie. I was hoping she would somehow get her powers back. The ending was missing a scene where Touta, Karin, Kuromaru and Yukihime talking about their 4 way relationship. How Kuromaru, Karin, Kirie had sex with Touta. Then it maybe leads to Touta and Yukihime having sex.
Do you know if the Negima cast is immortal? It would be so satisfying if Eva and Tota could go visit them post-ending. Also if negi ended up outliving all of his harem it would be kinda morbid💀
from what i know some were only immortal due to their connection to the Mage of beginning so only fate and Yukihime would be immortal, Negi should be aswell but i think he lost it like the others.

sometimes i have nothing too respond back with so i say nothing. at this point Yukihime is a UQH character more than a Negima one and she out lives them anyway so not seeing them anymore should haven eventually
The actual answer seem to be ambiguous from Korumaru calling him “dear” I’d like to say Korumaru but it could be he just has all three including yukihime by the last page
