Colleen charted it in Australia in 1982, well before Bette Midler's "Beaches" version, in 1988. Loved both the Carpenters and Colleeen's versions of Superstar - totally different voices. Colleen's version ofJohn Lennon's Mother , in my opinion, is the best version although a live Lennon version makes it a close call.
I just discovered this lady while watching an old Aussie show.. I wish I would have heard her sooner.. I would have been a fan from day one.. I'm here in the US and I have never heard of her.. what a shame.. she should have always been on u.s. radio.. how lucky Australia is.. thank goodness for youtube

Comparing it to this, in my opinion this is incredible and better. Not only has she not lost it, she sounds better than she did all those years ago. Honestly go have a listen. And what an amazing smile. I count my self as lucky to have experienced the 70s as a teenager.
