Christ, I remember hearing this back in the day as a kid and thinking it was pretty amazing but now, listening to it as an adult, it's UNBELIEVABLE. The fact that they had this quality of soundtrack for a cartoon would be unheard of today, we really were spoiled back in the 90s.
@@gong256 I agree completely. There is true heart and soul in this soundtrack. This was the problem with the 90s - big corporations overlooked the talent that they had at their disposal. Of all the music from BTAS, this episode's has always stuck out for me. To this day, I remember this episode and how awesome it and the music was, despite not having seen it since I was... 9, I think... almost 30 years later, I still think it's amazing.
This is my favorite episode from the entire series. I’m not sure why but it hits me in a lot of ways, but I really appreciate that Bruce has the very same mentality, drives and heart even when he can’t remember who he is or where he came from.
The oven is one of my favorite action themes of the show, along with the main sub-title of "The Last Laugh", they are just so catchy, they stucked with me even years before I rewatched the show!
You're welcome! Glad people are finally finding this again after taking the old version down. At some point, I'll be uploading more of Walker's work to the playlist on the channel as part of a belated birthday celebration.
psychokitty444 goosebumps at that point. Every. Time. Thank you so much for uploading this. Walker was a great composer and this music is my childhood personified.

There's still great stuff out there if you know where to look--The Legend of Korra, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Transformers: Prime, even Steven Universe and the end of Clone wars, etc. But most scores are not usually produced or composed at the level it was back in the day, and that's a genuine artistic tragedy. Granted, Walker's musical direction for the early DCAU is a towering achievement in any context. I will never not just absolutely freaking adore this episode's soundtrack. Every part of it is so wonderfully orchestrated, and evokes *Exactly* the emotions that it was intended to.
For a fairly above-average episode at best, this soundtrack kicks ass. It’s up there with Feats of Clay, The Last Laugh, and Heart of Ice for my favorite soundtracks in the series.
Just watched The Underdwellers yesterday. That one is such a great soundtrack. It’s a shame I can’t find it anywhere. Do you know if I can find it anywhere?
If anybody remembers HeavyWeights I was a huge fan of Batman when the movie came out and absolutely loved the movie. As a kid I imagined Batman coming into the camp and busting up Ben Stiller and his goons like in this episode. I had a wild imagination.
From the storytelling perspective it's really good music with a fitting scene unlike other movies that just throw popular music Into The Fray like into spider verse
spiderverse has an excellent soundtrack that just happens to be constructed differently from the btas soundtrack, including tons of original tracks but also well utilized artist features. two things can be very different while both being good :)
Bear in mind that what those prisoners went through is horrific, the music should sound more somber instead of sounding like something out of a typical western.

Shirley Walker doesn't get enough credit for all the amazing music she did for the show.
"Don't let me drown!"
"When you taste the prison food, you'll wish I had."

Sometimes it fun watching Batman take down chumps that have no business going up against him.
One of my favourite soundtracks in the show!!
sweatbox breakout is my jam
This is really the only episode I payed attention to the music. I love this kind of harmonica heavy music.

Wait, RDR referenced this? For real? Show me.
I was referencing more that it would be an ideal shootout song for the game :)
@@Zer0Mercy83 that would have been epic if they did

Not the best episode but maybe the best music. Whoever was on that harmonica was lighting it up.
Tommy Morgan, IIRC from the liner.
Some of best music to one of the best episodes of the Bat
Love this episode, catchy tune too. ❤
Is it just me, or is the central harmonica riff based on the spoken phrase "We've been for-gotten"? 3:28 is the best example.
