Honestly, it seems like some people dont have common sense anymore, its not quite common anymore. If its busy, dont take up a seat when you dont need to
As someone who takes a public bus route to and from school every day it amazes me how many people take up bags with seats! Half the time it's not even other kids, it's members of the public!
Luckily I go to a special needs secondary school so the bus that takes me to school is a private one so nothing like this ever happens on my bus journey to and from school.
Well done man, there's alot of them childish adults don't let them stop you from speaking up for yourself. Them ppl your worrying abt arguing infront of couldn't care less about your life even if you were abt to die, so you don't need to worry
Whenever I'm on the bus ( which is on the weekly basis ) I usually put my bag on the seat next to me ( like I normally do ) and when the bus gets a little busy I automatically put it by my feet so someone can sit down and when the bus isn't that busy I put my bag on the seat next to me
Ah yes, the "but my bag is there" argument. Well your bag didn't pay for a ticket did it? Usually the people in question in situations like this are concession card holders too, which makes it even more frustrating.
Yes, I remember one lady who had a condition where she wouldn't allow anyone to sit next to her, as I was driving the bus. I let it go, because she had severe mental health issues.
Honestly I hate it when people do this kind of thing, when I’m in a bus if I have my bag I always make sure to never put it on the seat since I understand that people have priority just like me.
Nice to know that bus drivers hate this too. I always try to make sure my bag stays on my lap or in-between my legs if I've got quite a bit of stuff to carry, but it annoys me to hell when it's a busy morning service and all you see is people sitting or putting bags and whatever on the inside seats. Most will happily move their stuff when asked, like you said, but it's just an extra step that puts you off a little bit of a morning or evening.
Hello Anton that happens quite a lot in Reading people putting their bags on the seat next to them then the next they never give up their empty seats next to them
Very good point you raised there Anton. As before ill health & I was never off the buses 🚍 in my own time I always left my bag 💼 on the other seat but always got moved if seat was needed by someone buddy. 👍
How strange pretty much the exact same thing happened to me a few days a go while on a single decker, somebody with a very bad attitude not wanting to move bag when the bus was busy, but eventually moving it for the person wanting to sit down after realising he was being selfish resulting in an argument between both people! If the bus is busy take bags off seats!
Aay Anton Super disrespectful what that Passenger done not letting someone sit next to him in a situation where the bus was busy and all the seats are used except for the one that the person had a bag in the way that person is disrespectful the way he shouted at you that's the day in life in bus drivers I'm afraid but we'll done for doin your job and being careful. It happens to all TFL staff abuse n violence and its just these men that don't know how to show respect unfortunately n sorry to hear u have been in these situations loads all bus drivers go thru it but well done for making sure all passengers adhere to the rules x make space for others who r vulnerable xxx positive days will come my friend x stay safe x take it easy anton you r a very good driver you make ur friends, go ahead colleagues and superfans like us smile xxx that's what I love about u xxx stay well x safe my friend anton good night Stephen
Cheers Stephen. I try my best to help all passengers. It's a tough job at times. Passengers look up to the driver to make sure operations are carried out smoothly, but some drivers are uncomfortable with it, as its put pressure on them, when some are not natural communicators.
True anton Some drivers are tired and some are willing to listen and be pleaser with passengers it's a normal day to day routine I'm used to witnessing it all the time. Thanks anton xxx stay safe Stephen
That's why when I can I stand at the front of the bus and refuse to sit upstairs. I've seen kids get pushed down the stairs or people be quite rude to each other. This was on a national express West Midlands bus in my hometown. And for the bags, I always have it between my feet or on my back or else I'd likely forget the property.
It's happened to me for years Karim. I know sometimes people accidentally press the wheelchair bell by leaning against it. I usually raise my voice saying 'Stop pressing the bell' and usually one or two passengers are aware and they tell people to stop pressing the bell whether on purpose or by accident.
Whenever I ride public transportation, I always put my bags in my lap and on the floor between my feet. Unless there are plenty of other seats available that aren't next to where I'm sitting.
@@DoubleDeckerAnton You’re welcome Anton! I have ridden and wholeheartedly support public transportation and the drivers who operate the vehicles 100%. Keep up the great work!
Here in Manchester our buses are generally not too overcrowded so I will often sit in the aisle seat or sit in the window seat but have a bag/other belongings on the aisle seat, but whenever it get's to the point where people (who don't know eachover) are having to sit next to eachover on a double seat I will move next to the window/put any belongings onto my lap so that passengers can sit next to me should they need to.
Takes all sorts to make up a bus journey, don’t worry about it, as life goes on, never came across those problems before, at least he allowed you to sit down, TfL or not, you got a result, hopefully he’ll saw this film, or worst, clocked you for next time - stay safe!.
Next time he should be told to get off the bus or be removed n handed to police for bad behaviour I wouldn't want to be on a bus with disrespectful people my man I cannot take it xxx Good video as always xxx stay well x night my friend anton Stephen
He was quite an imposing figure. He met his match. I dont usually like it when people are selfish and don't offer up their seats Stephen. If I was younger, I may not have argued with him, but as a bus driver i always help passengers to sit by asking others to move their bags on the tannoy. It works. It's rare a situation like this happens when someone is stubborn like this old man.
Absolutely as a bus driver like other key workers we care for our passengers as always but glad that the situation didn't get too heated but it happens to all of us all these incidents on public transport is unfortunately a bit of a daily basis in my view. But am happy that u r safe x sound and carrying out your duties as always I know that driving different routes can be a challenge because of traffic, incidents on roads, delays, crowded passengers and bring late on schedule it has an impact I see it in some drivers all the time they get tired and unhappy x but I salute your work and have respect x love for all bus drivers xxx stay safe x love your videos and the work you do xx have a good week xxx take it easy anton xxx Stephen
I usually carry a big backpack, but like come on, it doesn't take a lot to just ask me to move it! Sure, I'll squeeze myself in, but if you ask, I'll let you sit next to me.
So going back to 2002 i was in school traveling everyday from Shoreditch to Jamaica road on the 47 bus. I remember this certain teacher we had was horrible and everyone hated her. So on this particular day i left all my coursework and my work folder on the bus. I explained to her why i hadn't had my homework for her that day. Obviously she didn't believe me. On my way home that night as i boarded the bus, just behind the driver was a luggage compartment. Well guess what was there. Only my entire coursework folder. Haha. How lucky i was. The next day i told her i found it on the bus home but she didn't believe me, but come on, who would......
I live in a place in England where buses only have 1 wheelchair space so when a buggy is on they have to fold up for the wheelchair user and the other week the bus turned up with a buggy and my brother is in a wheelchair and the driver said you can t get on because there is a buggy then we tried telling him that they have to fold up then the driver just closed the door in our face and drove off.
I don't see an issue with putting your bag on the seat next to you if there are plenty of seats. The floor is sometimes wet or dirty. If it's busy, or you're sitting in priority seating yes you should move your bag.
I put my bag 🎒 on the seat next to me as i got disabilitie and part of who i am that i need space as it makes me feel agitated being close to a stranger but how ever i do look for the front seat if its a mmc or E400 or opater but anyone other bus unfortunately i need two seats & i offer to pay the driver for a extra seat 💺
Great video Anton. Passengers need to respect the authority of the driver. Anyway if it happens again ask the passenger if the bag has an Oyster Card. 😂 Your doing a great job 👏
Great video as always Anton. Hope you was ok after what happened some people can be so rude x🤦🏻♀️🫣
It happens few and far between Sarah. There are always a few awkward passngers on public transport.
Honestly, it seems like some people dont have common sense anymore, its not quite common anymore. If its busy, dont take up a seat when you dont need to
This situation only happens when there are strange passengers. Only happened twice in all my years travelling the bus.

Yes, it's what I do too, as sometimes the floor can be messy. 🙂
People really take ownership over seats on public transport vehicles..that’s wild!! I see it all the time!
Its not nice to experience it Keywan. There are always a few bad eggs in life.

Sick of these people.. on trains in Melbourne we have seats in bunches of 4, and I have legitimately seen people spread across all 4.
Thanks Anton, its a pet peeve of mine as i can never sit on the top as i get bad motion sickness and seats on the bottom level are limited
Always ask them politely and if there are a few other seats, then whoever let's you sit down first, is the best option.

That fella's just a knob. I leave my bag on the seat on the bus but that's with the expectation that anyone who needs to sit down will just ask.
If this video positively influences some people that possess a social conscience, it will have been worth the effort.
for some reason when i go into busses everybody sits by themselves execpt from family but if my favourite seat is taken i wait for the passenger to go

Do Bus drivers get cheaper fares in London?
Selfish people leave bags on seats that are next to them. This annoys other passengers including me.
Its always best practise, to politely ask them 'excuse me, im trying to sit down'.

Either proceed to sit on the bag, or charge for the bag.
