As an aside....its pronounced woks-a-hatchy. It's derived from the Indian name for Buffalo Creek, which ran through the area where several different tribes migrated with the herds.

It's really surprising that they do not have a marker. They are both in the same cemetery too. I think it is more surprising to see Roy without a marker because every year they have a Roy Orbison festival. I think he still has enough fans that money could be raised to get one. Originally they were going to get some elaborate memorial marker with his hits and then not sure what happened.

He was in EVERYTHING. He played a derelict Confederate soldier along with Strother Martin (RIP) in The Horse Soldiers with John Wayne (RIP). He was often on Gunsmoke and Rawhide TV shows and the Laramie series. He played both good guys and bad guys in many, many westerns. He played a terrible villain in an Audie Murphy film I can't remember the title. Audie is named sheriff, but Denver's character felt he should have gotten the job. Such a good actor, I'll never forget him. Very sad he has no marker. Possibly there will be one later.

Originally, I was going to ask why the hell would he not have a gravestone? He can afford it. But after reading through the comments I see there is good reason, It seems like it was his wishes. Unfortunately, no matter what we would like, its irrelevant, The man needs his wishes respected in his way.

RhettyforFun. Denver Pyle also portrayed Ben Thompson and other roles on the Wyatt Earp series from the 1950s with Hugh O’Brian as Wyatt Earp and Morgan Woodward as Mr.Gibbs which was Earps trusted Deputy. Douglass Fowley portrayed Doc Holiday among other roles within the series. Thanks for all of your great videos.

RhettyforFun; Denver Pyle also played different characters on “The Rifleman” TV series. I think that Denver Pyle could play any type of role whether it be good guy or bad guy very convincingly. Me Pyle was gifted in being able to make you either love him or hate him in his many roles. Many of the personalities that are in today’s show business realm should be more like Denver Pyle.
Recently, I witnessed a Rolling Thunder tribute to a family member who was KIA/MIA over N Korea in 1951. I was amazed at how many of my past generation family members were interred within this cemetery and my knowledge of where where they were all located., Through your videos, I have a much deeper appreciation of those family members and families who have passed on and their memories. I was disappointed that our local cemetery doesn’t maintain the flat markers better within the Veterans section of the cemetery like they do with the upright tombstones.
You would probably enjoy some of the very old cemeteries we have here in Kentucky. Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Kentucky has some very famous people interred within it’s very beautiful grounds. The Henry Clay tomb is very tall with the statue of Senator Clay being on top of the stone column. Lexington Cemetery has to install lightning rods on top of the statue due to lightning strikes damaging the statue in past years. One lightning strike severed the head from the statue in which repairs to the statue had to be made to re-attach Mr Clays head. Thanks For All Of Your Great Videos.

Denver lived in the area of Weatherford Texas in the mid 90s. I was working at a shop that sold Bar b q smokers and grills. He came in and purchased one. I guess his second wife was from the area, so that explains how he came to be buried there with his in laws. He did not appear to be a guy that was loaded with cash, was driving an old pick up truck. Came to the store himself to pick up the smoker. Nice guy. Signed a picture for me, then wanted to get the hell out of there before he got recognized.

    Classic!.... Y'all come back now.
BTW, the names are NOT a coincidence.
Gomer Pyle, spun-off from The Andy Griffith Show which Denver was on.
"We suggested that we have a guy who works in the gas station who was kind of simple-minded and we gave him a name. Gomer came from Gomer Cool, who was our comedy writer, and Pyle came from Denver, who was an actor on the show" - Andy Griffith

Excellent character actor. I would expect that he was lucky in his later years to find a stop on the TV show as Uncle Jesse most of these fine actors nobody wanted anymore.

You're right he was the perfect character actor. I think his work outside of a few shows I probably under appreciated today. Thank you for watching!

Yes it would be difficult to see anyone else in that position. Kind of like when the other Duke cousins came in.

He was on a few episodes of one of my favorite shows, Have Gun,Will Travel. He could be a lovable character or be as mean and nasty as they come but he was always a joy to watch.

Bethune in Eastern Colorado near the Kansas line off I-70 had a population of like ten people back in the seventies but I knew he grew up there when I watched him as a kid,one time in the mountains I met an old guy I swore was the actor James whitmore, he was in a rented Jeep driving around a ghost town name bear town, I mean there was a couple rotted planks left was all, when I looked his biography up he indeed was born or grew up in bear town Colorado,I knew it was him and I understood why he was Misty eyed, he had died shortly after I met him

He really didnt look good in the reunion show they released in early 1997. I wonder if that's when you saw him?
