As a dodger fan I am not suprised about bellinger at all. The only thing we weren't sure of, was his return in form if he stayed with us but he is a special player and it really hurts to see him return to form with another team but sometimes a change in scenery is whats needed for a player. Hope to see cubs and dodgers in the playoffs it would be a great series

  • @danhess2

I think a playoff berth is especially crucial this year if ANY team wants to be able to sell themselves as a viable destination for you-know-who to sign in the off-season. I almost think that’s partially why Jed decided to buy at the trade deadline - not only to give the surging Cubs a better shot to play in October but to show the afore-mentioned free agent that the Cubs front office is willing to make moves for their team (the Angels did the same thing but of course that hapless franchise won’t do anything). Anyway, I sincerely hope the Cubbies keep this going and make some more noise because the more we do, the more attention we’ll get from the guy playing on the west coast haha

It has been a really fun turnaround for this team. They seemed to have really good chemistry, even when they weren't winning games, and I think that can be highly underrated by a lot of people. Teams with that kind of chemistry almost always end up performing well and it feels like they are finally hitting their stride. Just hoping they can keep it up the rest of the way because even if they miss the postseason, if they are still in the race until the end, it will definitely help attract higher caliber free agents who will clearly see that the team is right on the cusp of being a playoff contender at the very least (which of course, you mentioned in your video)

I think the Cubs struggled at the beginning of the year because the relievers were unsure of their roles. It took awhile, but through trial and error, everyone knows their job now. There were some wasted at bats too, but Ross had a team meeting and everything has improved. I give David Ross and the staff credit too, but Tauchman and Bellinger are nuts.

  • @franzdoreza5230
    @franzdoreza5230 ปีที่แล้ว +2

So glad you make these videos… I just hope this streak they are on isn’t a tease… Get us excited and then fall back down to earth… Well I hope not, they better not lose the series against the Mets who are a worse team, and the fact that they played their asses off against the Braves was impressive… But that was at Wrigley and now I will know when we play in Atlanta Because it will be a different surrounding obviously… It was great to see are you short stop playing well against his former team… He is clutch just like Cody Bellinger, if we don’t keep him in Chicago I would seriously question the GM… They need to keep them here they haven’t had this good of a hitter and defensive player and base runner in a long time… They need a good lefty out of the bullpen, a more consistent Rady since Fulmer is either awesome or frustrating as hell… She either hit somebody, throws it away or walks the bases loaded… Or strikes out the right people at the right time… Inconsistency is not a good thing… Now about our young closer Alzolay… Is he good enough? Should we leave him there and let him mature as our actual closer? Or will he eventually be the set up guy and will the Cubs go spend money or trade for a proven closer? I guess will know in a week or two because if the Cubs continue to play better and continue to win series they need to make more additions if they actually want to go further than a play in or one playoff series… Thanks again for your video, keep up the great work✌🏼👍🏼

I love the story of Candelario… A former cub, starting out as a young kid finally making it to the nationals instead of the Cubs but now has become a legitimate MLB player who can continue to get better… It’s amazing how many clutch hits he has, he rarely strikes out, he doesn’t swing for the fences he makes good contact, he’s a smart player, good defender… Is that enough? Do they need another hitter? I think they’ll be OK… It’s really about pitching if they want to be truly competitive. But, if Shohei Ohtani is available, should they? Is it worth it? Who else would they go after if they wanted another bat/fielder? Is Candelario enough?Hhmmm..😁👍🏼✌🏼

It would take a TON of breaks to fall the Cubs way to make another deep run at a WS Title this year, but despite 2016, the Cubs still (in my view) have enough bad breaks from the last century waiting to even out that they could win the next 5 in a row and still have some in reserve.

It helps that the Pirates totally collapsed after a strong start, and the NL Central has no clear leader like the East and West do. As of today, the Cubs hold the 3rd WC spot and are only 0.5 game behind the Brewers for the division lead. Hopefully they can keep it up and win the Central.

Another thing, I didn’t realize just how good our young Justin Steele would be… He looks like a number one pitcher, and only throwing 92 or 93 tops, with so much crazy movement on his sliders and cutters… The kid knows how to pitch… Even without a 98 mile an hour fastball, it’s all about movement and pitch placement… It’s such a great thing to see… Should they get another starter? Because this idea that you can have two or three pictures doing one game sometimes makes sense but is that what they should be doing? Is drew Smyly good enough to start a game and go six innings at least? Should they continue doing this half and half or 1/3 1/3 and 1/3 situation? I’m not so sure, it kind of makes sense because it keeps the hitters off balance but you never know about consistency because when you have one picture who’s on you don’t need to change him you want that picture finishing the game or at least going seven or eight innings because sometimes the next guy could have a bad day and ruin it for the guy who started it… So I’m not sure if that strategy is really wise but I guess we’ll see but I think we should try to get another legitimate starter who can actually win games and not be so damn frustrating like Jameson Taillon… His problem is that he throws strikes… Unfortunately his strikes are in too much in the zone and there’s not enough depth on his slider/breaking pictures… They just roll up there… I don’t know what to do with him… I hope he gets better and more consistent… But I guess we’ll wait and see. So frustrating because this team has the Moxie, they’re good defenders, they come back and never quit… The starters are decent the bullpen is just up and down, ugh… cubs baseball is so exciting and so frustrating

I really like Wesneski.. not only does he have a 96 mile an hour fastball, but every pitch has so much movement and cutting action… It’s just sometimes he leaves the fastball in the wrong place or the breaking pitch breaks into the zone instead of out… I hope he can get it together because I think he has the potential to be really good as a starter if not a reliever… But I would really like to see him make it as a starter. And drew Smyly, some days he looks fantastic, and like I said before does it make sense to have two or three pictures per game like this? Is it better to have juice :-) pitch seven innings instead of switching off? Anyway I don’t know how long this will work but I still prefer if a picture is going well leave them in the game instead of taking them out for the next guy who might be having a bad day… It’s unconventional, maybe that’s what david Ross Lakes, maybe he got that from Joe Maddon… If it works, great… But so far I’m not really sure.

When Cody Bellinger had a couple of bad years… That doesn’t mean his talent was lost, or that he will never get back to MVP form… I never believe that, he’s still young, the talent is still there, he had a couple injuries and setbacks… Not a big deal, now that he’s healthy, his career is revived and he needs to stay in Chicago… But he’s not the only reason I believe the Cubs are doing well, obviously it’s a team Game and some of these guys like Gomes, Tauchman, Cody, Dansby, Happ, Nico Hoerner, Morel, Jeimer..etc. These guys are coming through in the clutch… and the starters have been very competitive..That’s what’s happening is that they are finally knocking in guys who are on base… And they’re still getting on base via walks… And you have to give credit to David Ross because he is doing a great job keeping this team together, focused, never letting down, they have the mindset that they can beat anyone… And I believe it… They just need a little more talent if they want to go further than just one playoff round.

Happ is NOT coming through in the clutch and his BA with RISP and other stats indicate that including being just 5th on Cubs team in RBI's despite batting the #3 spot most of the season. He is a BB magnet being 3rd in MLB with 79 but other than that is a disappointment when it comes to clutch. As pitchers realize he is struggling to hit and with Bellinger batting behind him they aren't afraid to challenge him more and we are seeing his OBP drop as a result.

I think Suzuki is just struggling in his mind… He’s trying so hard to be great he’s putting so much pressure on himself… It’s having a negative effect… He wants to impress so badly and I get it… The talent is there, he just needs to relax, get to know these pictures because he still learning what it’s like in the major leagues… The pitching is better and he’s seeing so many new guys it should take at least two or three years before he can start getting to know how to adjust to major league pitcher. But I believe he’ll get there eventually.

I really hope so too, I was so hyped after the cubs landed gol from Japan, I’m a bit disappointed from his results so far but hopefully after his reduced role he can come back and be the guy he was out of Japan. Too much talent to give up on like some have

While they arent serious contenders this year i dont think they are THAT far off. They need an ACE and 1 more big bat and some bullpen help.
But they are way closer than i thought theyd be at this point

I’ve seen little leaguers take more pitches than these clowns.
Is our spiffy new manager unable to coach these guys?
I can’t understand why our team thinks that .200 hitters are the way to go.

Wisdom is so frustrating… You know he can be a much better player… If Pete Alonso can do what he does, so can Patrick wisdom and a magic mustache isn’t going to help… That thing looked terrible, like a cross between cop and a porn star… Not good… He’s talented, he’s got a strong arm, he can play infield or outfield… He’s incredibly strong, he could hit 40 or 50 home runs regularly, if he didn’t strike out 200 times a season or more… How can he get there? Well I hope he can transform his career otherwise he won’t be here very long… Unfortunately… I really would love to see Pete Crow Armstrong and other young guys come up at the end of the season.
