IF you have ever gone to a concert, and at those tender moments when the artist is trying to create tension in the performance by being silent for a few seconds, IF you then have felt an overwhelming need to shout; “I love you”, instead of enjoying the moment, THEN you are a self-obsessed narcissist and you should stay away from concerts in the future. Remember this.
I personally do not agree with that, as Mark Knopfler took it very well. These people are just having a nice time, maybe drunk. There are a few clips of Knopfler of what appears to be him telling security guards to knock off being so bossy. I say appears, because that's how I perceived it.
I think secretly all the guys are jealous of him in a way… clapton, sting, brian may, all the english knights. He’s the least bs and just what he does. You know nothing about him… takes off the headband and dissapears into the street…
Yes, judging by Knopfler's own very high standards, this was a sub-par version - not clearly articulated, and without the sheer joy and swing of the Live in Nimes version you can also find on TH-cam. Sure, this recording is years later, and it was a long tour (I was at the Leeds date), but you feel Knopfler is tired, his touring band are going through the motions, and sadly this not a great record of this fab number!
