I don't get round 15, I even went back and double checked my stitch count on round 14.. when I follow the instructions for round 15 I get way more than 30 stitches. Can you explain?
@@emilywillbe I thought I was (that's where you go thru two front loops, yeah?) but maybe I was zoning out and just SC all of them. Imma rest my eyes and try again in a bit. Thank you for responding 💜
For anyone whose penguin seem to be leaning to one side or look flat, you should check your stitches regularly next time to see if they're even or not. If your stitches slowly become looser while doing increase rounds, the top of your penguin would be flat. If you tend to loosen on a side, your penguin will lean to the other side. The opposite is true for tightening (tighten one side, your penguin will lean to that side). Do not fix this by doing the opposite extreme on the next round. Example: you notice that on the last round, at the back of the penguin head, you have tighten the yarn too much so the penguin head seem to curve inside so you decide to loosen your yarn a bit this round on this round in hope of cancelling the curve. However, by doing so, you'll create a ripple. If you find that some stiches you've made are not even, just frog them and redo. Yeah, it's quite frustrating to frog such a big distance but this is the point of practice. It's pretty normal to frog while making a project. Plus, if you ever try designing something, you'd definitely have to frog very regularly. Also, by the nature of crochet, your stitches will tend to diagonally lend to the side of your crochet hand. To fix this, you can either practice (as this project is small enough for leaning not to be noticeable) or switch to “yarn under” in desperation.
By leaning do you mean how the stitches seem to go diagonally? When I try to make the penguin the white part keeps slightly shifting to the left and it's driving me crazy - I've undone and redone it like a million times checking that my stitches are even and that I'm not skipping stitches and everything but it's not improving at all. It wasn't a problem when I was just using one color because it's not too noticeable, but when I'm trying to color change it's super uneven and I don't know how to fix it. Do you have any suggestions?
@@ilanayousuf1376 here’s the thing: crochet stitches will always go diagonally. As long as the stitches are even, at this size, the lean isn’t really noticeable. However, if you can’t stand it, I’d suggest switching to the “yarn under” style, which should significantly decrease this problem.
Use the X stitch (yarn under) as well as stitching in front loops only the entire time. Might have to switch to a smaller crochet hook to avoid getting holes in between stitches

I hope this is ok to post here, but for everyone who is saying they don't understand the pattern: this is the first amigurumi I decided to try as I'm just learning to crochet, before I decided to try an actual pattern I practiced a few basic stitches/concepts by watching MULTIPLE tutorial videos. But nothing really clicked til I watched this video (th-cam.com/video/DtqiCbYCWWE/w-d-xo.html) which to me is really easy to follow along as she talks about what she's doing and explains the BASICS (all found in this penguin tutorial and other amigurumi tutorials as well) at a manageable speed (I didn't have to slow down any parts, just paused when I fell behind cause I'm really slow). In the video linked you're not learning how to make anything but learning the basics, which can be used to create doll heads, penguins, bees, etc. It was really helpful to me and gave me the confidence to try a pattern - and made this penguin tutorial completely doable and easy! Though I got stuck on round 15 (which is accidentally labeled round 11 btw y'all) that's only because I must've done something wrong with my decreases. I'm about to try again on that round. Also, the amigurumi basic video I linked doesn't cover color change but I highly recommend watching a few color change tutorials on youtube then coming back to this penguin video. I had never done a color change but haven't had any issues following this pattern after watching a few other basics/color change videos. Hope this helps a few others. While I was trying to figure out if round 11 was labeled incorrectly on the video (it is, it's supposed to be round 15) - as I was reading the pattern more so than watching the video unless I got stuck - I read through ALL the comments and I noticed a LOT of people frustrated at the lack of voice over and instructions. Which I like as it makes me focus more on pattern reading but I also had JUST finished practicing two "doll heads" with the video I linked, which literally covers every step except the color change. Good luck, y'all! And don't give up! Once it clicks it's really fun and rewarding!

Nice tutorial! I making one for someone’s Christmas present! I hope they will like it, but I’m sure they will! And I’m also gonna make a cute little adoption box for it! I also made a dog, for another person, and I bet they will love it too! ❤️
Just finished round six (this note is for me to keep track)
I just made it, super fast and adorabble
شكرا لقد استفدت كثيرا بطريق رائع❤🐥
Its good but so fast for a beginner. I can't see which loop put sc n inc..
Ooow They are soo cute
i want to try it
Thank for taking the time to post this video.
I suggest can please go slower, I know I can pause the video but still I can’t really see where the stitches need to be.
You go off the camera so much 😔.
It looks so cute and I would love to crochet waddle.
Once again thanks
🐧💜
Thank you so much, I will improve on it ya.
Just for your helpu can change the playback speed
Soma Sircar thanks for the feed back 😊
I want to cry they are just 2 cute!!!
Love it. I am going to try it
These r Adorable!
you should really do a voice over instead of music cos some parts r rlly confusing
Nicole Lim JH Well in my videos I don't do voice overs or even show my face cause I'm to shy and I'm only 14 yrs old
So maybe she is?
@@krafty_hedgehog ye dats a gd point maybe she can hve the pattern listed down under the video, ik she pinned a comment cos dats quite helpful. altho a voice over wld hve certainly help in the initial stages but is still doable without a voice over just a little more complicated
@Krafty Hedgehog But if she is shy then can she try to slow down a bit, well since i dont understand some parts either...🙃
Wow very good
Hermosos ¡! 😍 muchas gracias por traducirlo al español latino ...un fuerte abrazo desde México con mucho cariño 🌹😘🇲🇽
Ella no fue lo que traducio el video ;)
So adorable! Thanks for posting :-)
It is so cute!! Thank you!!!
So cute 💖
How cute ❤️❤️
Oh that's a _much_ easier way to add stiches to a magic circle!
Woow , so amazing I love it very much 😍😍
The only part of the video I understood was:
“Put on some makeup”
I’ve never done crochet LOL
if you have never done crocheting before than i would start with an easier crochet project woth someone talking throu it i am a pretty confident crocheter and i still messed up a little i think so start with an easier project and come back to this one
@@angelscrochet223 thanks
your welcome
My brain is going to explode 😭😭😭
Same 😐 stitching the white part using the pattern doesn't sit right with me.
BRUH I CANT EVEN DO THE 6 STICHES INSIDE THE CIRCLE LIKE WHFIJESJJDHK
@@pinkrubies try finding a tutorial that teaches you how to put sc (single crochets) into a mc! (Magic circle/ring) :)
@@itsaradish176 i will! tysm
I just made it to the part to add the cotton… i dont have cotton so i have to wait till i get some. It is adorable so far except i messed up on the white part a little bit but this is my first crocheting project so i think i did very well for my first time😊
