Carly Simon sold the song and the rights to the song to a fan who paid big bucks for it, along with the name of the person it was written about. The sale came with a condition that he should never reveal who the song was written about, and he hasn't. This video is crap, Viral Nater is only using assumptions. No-one apart from the new owner knows who the person is or was.
She gave no answer. This tactic is becoming more frequent.
This was so annoying. I regret watching this whole damn thing considering there was no specific answer of who the song was supposed to be about. In the very beginning you stated she finally gives the answer of who this song is about, but all you did was keep us hanging with no answer to be found.

3:10 - Bad research. Carly Simon has asserted that the name taken to be "David" in the whisper in the 21st-century re-recording was actually "Ovid", not "David". She also said it is in the new recording both forwards and backwards.
7:02 - A waterborne vehicle going from England to New York isn't a "boat", clods. It's a ship, or an ocean-liner. A boat is smaller.
The most unforgivable factual error in this video is at the end where it says that if I've watched it until the end I must've enjoyed it. No way. I've enjoyed giving it the ripping-to-shreds that it deserves. Why am I allowed to hit only ONE "dislike"? I need millions of them.
It's always so strange, given the premise (situation) of "The Partridge Family", to be reminded that David Cassidy was of the legal age to have love-affairs in most U.S. states in NINETY-SIXTY-EIGHT.
14:21 - So this is the answer to the question "How can this video get worse?" that I asked below. Jagger sang BACKING vocals (BACKGROUND, or BACKUP) vocals on the "You're So Vain" record. This video says that he sang BACKWARDS vocals. At this point I'm beginning to think that this video is packaged by a company who has no employees whose first language is English, and so while they know, in their own language, the difference between backwards vocals and backing vocals, they don't know that in English the terms "backing vocals" and "backwards vocals" are two entirely different things. If this narrator is an actual person he's the most uneducated person I've ever met. Or else the script-writer is. Or they're tied for it.

7:30 - The motion footage shown here is NOT Marvin Gaye (although the stills are). This person is Smokey Robinson. Marvin Gaye never looked anything LIKE Smokey Robinson at this time of Mr. Robinson's life, and NOBODY ELSE looks like this. Any fool should have been able to look at this and say "That's Smokey Robinson, not Marvin Gaye".
I didn't care if it wasn't anybody at all. I did see the total eclipse of the sun she referred to in the song only in Virginia Beach, VA. instead of Nova Scotia, March 7,1970.

17:12 - The narration says that Carly Simon began dating a doctor in 2008, and then, seconds later, says that they've been dating since 2006. How do you even WRITE something so bad? What kind of proofreader doesn't find an error like that just JUMPING off the page at them? Sloppiest work I've ever seen.
8:26 - The narrator should have said that Jack Nicholson (John Joseph Nicholson) doesn't have an "r" in his name (and so cannot be a candidate), and that omission further reduces the quality of this narration. Nicholson has the "a" if you call him "Jack", or course, and two "n"s. But the absence of the "r" rules him out and you should have said so.
11:12 - The building on-screen at 11:12 is in SINGAPORE. It is now a hotel. It was once a shopping-center. It has NEVER been a single-family home, and it has never been in Connecticut. WHY ON EARTH IS IT HERE? Well, Carly Simon's family had a home in Stamford. At some point the narrator said "the Stamford house", and some AI device heard the words "the Stamford house" and went off half-cocked and found this building. And it's not even the right name. The narrator said "the Stamford house". This building's name is NOT "The Stamford House". It's just "Stamford House" with no "The". How will this video get any more slipshod than it has gotten at this low point? I'm sure that as I continue to watch I will find out.
So, after all of this, the video omits the two biggest clues: "And your horse naturally won". Or is it "And your horse (Naturally) won". Someone should go after the ownership records of race-horses and find out if there's ever been a registered race-horse named "Naturally", and then find out who owned it. It could be Warren Beatty or it could be one of the other two people. The second clue is that in the 21st century re-recording of the song she changed the line "You had me several years ago when I was still quite naïve" to "You had me SEVEN years ago when I was still quite naïve". So, go back seven years from the time she WROTE the song.
Thank you for letting me know it's a nothing burger before I wasted my time and frustrated. I know this channel likes to drag people along. And I should have known better before I even began watching.

5:52 - I believe Warren pronounces his last name "BATE-tee", not "BEAT-tee". Anyway, more pathetically bad research: Simon told People! Magazine that the second VERSE is about Warren Beatty. This atrocious video says that the second LINE that is about Warren Beatty. Such an amateurish bungle.
8:47 - Kristoffer "Kris" Kristofferson doesn't have an "a" in his name. Now, I haven't listened to any of the bit about Kristofferson yet, but I will wager that the narrator doesn't ever TELL us that "Kristoffer Kristofferson" has no "a", and that rules out Kristofferson beyond all doubt. (And at 9:27 I find out that I'm correct, the narrator will not mention the missing "a". "Cretin narrator" has an "a", an "r", and an "e", so maybe this Cretin Narrator is the person the song is about. And, he's not ashamed by doing such an abysmal job on this video, because he's so vain that he thinks he is competent.)
What a waste of time! I should have known better! Everytime I hear this man’s voice I know there will be a great deal of talking and nothing of value will ever be said! No more chances!
8:26 - Narrator says "Simon told HER ...". Something is wrong with this computerized nincompoop. It consistently uses the object pronoun to match the sex (or gender, if you will) of the SUBJECT performing the action, not the OBJECT having the action done TO it or them. So because Simon is a woman, if Simon speaks to a man, Simon is speaking to HER. Most normal English-speakers sex that pronoun to match the person to whom it refers, so that if you (regardless of whether you are male, female, or other) are speaking to a man, you say "HIM", not "HER".
This video its a lot of talk no action.
Waterboarded with the parade of vain in her life. OK, the one's after she wrote the song are eliminated if it's about one or the several relationships. That only leaves the one's she had experienced in life to that point to be the potential one, or maybe she wrote it based upon the several experiences and it's about nobody in particular & the song applies to past, present & future. Wisdom is a wonderful thing like that. Was she Alanis Morrisette only a couple of decades earlier ? Only kept it short to a single song instead of her entire collection ?
