    Hi, Geek! Your video helped me to start using my Singer 3223! Thank you!
    I'm facing an issue. Would be really kind if you could help me! My stiches come out very thin.. even the decorative stiches and the stretch stiches!! The stiches barely show the design.. it's so thin!! Makes me sad to think that my machine is faulty, but looks like I'm doing something wrong. It's an issue because on all the tutorials that I have watched of the same machine, I've seen the stiches come out pretty good! I tried to look up all over the internet, but seems like no one has faced the problem that I'm facing.. honestly I don't even know if it's a problem. :(
    Do you know what could be wrong?

    • @GeekenChic
      @GeekenChic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jasneet! I'm glad I can help! As for the thread being thin, I'm not entirely sure by what you mean by "thin". First thing I would do is check to make sure you are using the correct thread! While it may seem like any kind of thread can fit your machine, make sure it is all purpose thread. If it's not, that may be one reason. If you're also experiencing thread breaking I would definitely change out the thread. I would also check your stitch length. If you mess around with stitch length you may be able to get larger pitches that show, I usually keep mine at a 3. Please let me know if anything I've said helps, and let me know if the problems still continues! I'd like to try and help you fix it!

      Hi! Yes this was actually my first sewing machine before I worked in a costume shop! I love this machine so much and is definitely perfect for beginners! I highly suggest this machine! I also used to sew everything by hand, but this machine has made my sewing endeavors so much easier!

    How do you know if you're using all purpose thread? (most of my thread was given to me by my mom, already opened and used).

    • @GeekenChic
      @GeekenChic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for your questions! I really appreciate them, If you are unsure, you can always just start sewing with them! If the top thread keeps snapping when you sew, you are not working with thread strong enough for machine sewing, but is still perfect for hand sewing.

  • @Clifford615
    @Clifford615 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For the bobbin: does the thread have to be positioned a certain way?

    • @GeekenChic
      @GeekenChic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Thank you so much for your comments! When you pit the bobbin in the bobbin case, the best way to see if the bobbin is in correctly is to pull on the thread. If the bobbin is trying to come out take it out and flip it the other way. I can make a video about it if you are still unsure!

    Hello! Can you use a twin needle on that machine? I'm interested in buying it

    • @GeekenChic
      @GeekenChic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Yes you can! When using a twin needle 3mm is a great size! 4mm is risking the needle being too big and hitting the foot. It can still work, but I'd stick with a 3mm twin needle! You can also buy an attachment to hold the second spool of thread, otherwise you can just thread it through the regular tension guides for it. When using the twin needle I suggest sticking to the normal running stitch or a zigzag stitch.
      I hope I answered your question and I wish you luck with your sewing endeavors! If you have any other questions, I'll be happy to answer them!

    can i ask if its okay for jeans or denim?

    • @GeekenChic
      @GeekenChic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Yes, this machine works well on denim! If you are thinking of doing multiple layers of denim (possibly 3-4 layers) you can look into getting a stronger needle, but the machine itself will be able to handle it!

  • @soumyamarhual1408

    I'm considering buying this machine for a small business that sells scrunchies and hairties. Is the machine strong enough to sew consistent, good quality stitches over time? Or will it fall weak soon? PS it's a small business, not large scale. Everything will be handmade by me.

    • @GeekenChic
      @GeekenChic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is! This is a great machine, I've had it for closer to two years without needing repairs. Like all sewing machines, you may run into issues with thread tension which can be easily fixed by rethreading your machine. If you see the you may be skipping stitches, try putting in a new needle. This sewing machine will work wonders, it is on you to keep the mechanics clean and replace the needle when it gets dull. If you care for the machine it will last you forever! I wear clothes and costumes that I make using this machine and will put complete trust in the quality of the stitches. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions, don't be afraid to reach out!

      @@GeekenChic Thanks a lot 🥰🥰🥰
      I wasn't expecting a reply so soon but this really helps. I've a few more questions lol, sorry to bother you.
      I was originally confused between this and 3229 model. I'm partial to 3223 because of its awesome color and 1 kg less weight than the 3229, not to mention a few less stitches cuz I dont wanna overcomplicate my sewing experience. 3229 vids which I saw were amazing, the machine can do wonders, the real question is how much will those extra stitches come in handy. In India the price difference is close by, I can afford either but the factor stopping me from choosing 3223 is that 3229 has a stitch width dial. Idk how much role it plays in sewing and if I buy 3223, will I be missing out on the stitch width adjustment feature and everything that it can offer? How much does the stitch width play a role in regular sewing anyways?
      Thanks a lot again 🥰

    • @GeekenChic
      @GeekenChic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Soumya! Don't apologize for asking questions, I'm always so excited to help others with their sewing questions! We are all learning from each other in the sewing community!
      I know that the 3223 doesn't have a width adjustment knob, but I have only had to ever adjust the width of stitches once and that was for embroidering something. If you are thinking of embroidery then maybe look into the 3229, however you can always just change the stitch length on a stretch stitch and (I believe) you can achieve the same look. It's always best to go simpler with your first machine because you may not need all the extra stitches. I've only used four of the different stitched on my 3223 and I still have more to try out!
      I'm not sure how much the difference would be, but the cheaper may be better incase you want to buy more bobbins, or different feet for your machine. I do know that the features I use the most are the the stitch length and stitch tension. Depending on the kind of fabric you're working with you may have to change the tension dial so the fabric doesn't gather.
      I almost never use a stitch width adjustment knob, so I don't think you'd be missing much without the feature! In the end, it's up to you! If you have any more questions, please let me know!

      I ain't into embroidery, I'll be sewing intermediate crafts and tiny knick knacks, nothing heavy duty and since you said you don't feel the need for stitch width yourself after using the machine for 2+ years, I can safely go ahead and order the teal one 🥰🥰🌞🌞, Thanks for helping me arise at the decision YOU DA BEST 👅

    Hi maam may i know what size is the bobbin of your sewing machine?

    • @GeekenChic
      @GeekenChic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Sorry for the late reply, I've recently started a new job, but I use Clear Class 15 bobbins. They're one of the easier bobbin sizes to find. I suggest getting the ones sold by Singer for their machines. Another company's may work, but it's better than to risk it with your machine. Hope that helps!
