  • Welcome to our video discussing the most difficult motorcycle skills you'll need to learn, and the easiest ways to practice them! In today's episode we go over clutch control, launching quickly, when to downshift, and hill starts. None of these skills are taught specifically by a CBT instructor, hopefully today's video will fill in some of the gaps. Let us know if you have any better ways of practicing the skills demonstrated in todays video in the comments.

      I worked a few classes here in the USA. I personally thought it'd been nice to have an atv just to teach some of the people friction zone without having to worry about anything else. Friction zone and people not looking where they we're supposed to go was what caused the main problems.

    I'm currently down shifting based on the speed so 0-10mph 1st gear. 10-20mph 2nd gear. 20-30mph 3rd gear and so on so on from 30-40, 40-50 and I do the same for the gears.
    If I'm on 60mph > 6th gear and i pull the the throttle in coming to a stop and downshift every 10mph each time with a slow release of the clutch each time

    Nice video! Didn't know you could go up to 2nd on cluck alone, doesn't sound too happy but that's just the torque right thats struggling a little

    My bike does not have a gear indicator. And I don't really need it. I can't really feel what gear I am in, but I don't need to. If the revs are to low, then I downshift. If the revs are really high then I upshift. I can feel the difference between first and second gear, and I cant really shift down from first, so it's not a problem.

    Hi I currently doing my A license. Do you think a CB650R is a good starter bike?

    • @MattBruzdziak
      @MattBruzdziak 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      IMO, the cbr650r is a good starter bike. Friendly ergonomics. Plenty of power. Not too heavy. That bike should last you a long time before you get tired of it. It is a bike that you can grow into. Keep practicing the basics and you will be just fine.

      @@MattBruzdziak hi Matt. Thanks for the good information. I’ve been wanting to ride a bike for a long time now and after a lot of research this seems to be a really good started bike. Can’t wait to pass and get one!!

    Are you counter steering?
    My cbt said nothing about counter steering.
    ps what kind of boots are you wearing?

    • @davapod
      @davapod 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You may not be aware of it but over very low speeds on a motorcycle you are counter steering when changing direction, this is true for bicycles as well.

    • @KrisVickers-wn6dd
      @KrisVickers-wn6dd 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@davapod Yes I'm aware. But Active counter steering is push left go left, push right go right.

    • @davapod
      @davapod 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@KrisVickers-wn6dd For sure, and it certainly something I use , but like techniques like trail braking, they are skills that fall into a more advanced skill set. CBT by definition is basic training.👍

    • @KrisVickers-wn6dd
      @KrisVickers-wn6dd 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@davapod Yeah but I don't understand while people aren't at least made aware.
      I only discovered it after I saw an amateur rider collide head first with a truck. Thankfully he survived but if he had known counter steering he would've avoided the accident all together.
      In fact because he was so desperately turning to avoid the truck the bike actually ended up going towards it.

      I learnt about counter steering during my cbt but only because I already had my DAS booked for 2 weeks after, otherwise probably wouldnt have mentioned it.
