Really great video! As someone who’s seen the original Rescuers, even in that movie they don’t do much with the secret mouse society beyond the basics. All it is is secret service for kids and it just so happens to be run by mice, and while it’s a cute idea, it’s not an idea the movie does much beyond that and does anything interesting with. But like a point you kept bringing up in your ranking, the movie wasn’t about the Secret Mice Society, it was about two pretty flat mice saving a kid. The “romance” is incredibly basic and is exactly what you would expect for a standard kids movie. But it’s overall a decent time And on your Mulan take, while I personally don’t think it’s the best Disney movie, I do see why so people connect with that specific one and I respect that. Mulan herself is such a well realized character to point where I would say she’s in my Top 3 Disney Princesses. So yeah, great video, I just wish the Fanta gag was in it more.
I like all of these movies 10) Pocahontas 9) Tarzan 8) The Rescuers Down Under 7) Hercules 6) The Hunchback of Notre Dame 5) The Little Mermaid 4) Mulan 3) Aladdin 2) Beauty and the Beast 1) The Lion King
Aladdin is my favorite Disney prince, though I do hate how he lies to Jasmine the whole time. Low self-esteem or not, it's not cool. I wish he told Jasmine the truth but had to lie to the sultan because he was being manipulated by Jafar.
8:43 I’m also Neurodiverse, and I’m not sure what advantages/disadvantages it has on people like you and I when analysing film. I myself often rewind scenes because I feel like thoughts have rushed through my brain to fast, but I don’t want to ignore the scene because then I’d lose track of the story I still need to make my Disney renaissance marathon happen next break. That way I’ll have a stronger opinion on videos like this. But I’ve enjoyed your ranking videos regardless I have an Idea you could do for a ranking video. Considering how you’ve ranked different eras of Disney justifying how they have evolved overtime. you could do similar for Pixar eras. including “The Pixar Renaissance (Toy 1 to Toy Story 3)” “Pixar’s hit or miss streak in the 2010s (Cars 2 to Toy Story 4) and “Modern Pixar (Onward and Onward [sorry XD])”. Who knows you could get a bundle of views seen as no one has done this kinda ranking before
My Ranking: 10) Pocahontas (1/10) 09) The Rescuers Down Under (5/10) 08) Tarzan (7/10) 07) The Hunchback of Notre Dame (8/10) 06) The Little Mermaid (8/10) 05) Mulan (9/10) 04) Hercules (9/10) 03) Beauty and the Beast (10/10) 02) Aladdin (10/10) 01) The Lion King (10/10)
I’ll be honest. I love the Phil Collins songs in Tarzan *and* Brother Bear. He doesn’t deserve all the hate he gets. He’s a good singer and his voice is so soothing. P.S. While I wouldn’t say Kerchak is a villain, I still think his character arc is poorly executed. They could’ve shown more scenes of him bonding with Tarzan, instead of phoning in a forced apology before his death.
My ranking: 1. Mulan 2. Hercules 3. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 4. The Little Mermaid 5. Tarzan 6. Aladdin 7. Pocahontas 8. Beauty and the Beast 9. The Lion King 10. The Rescuers Down Under!
With historical parallels, I agree with Pocahontas' ranking; however, as an independent story, it's top 5 for me. It's good to see Mulan get more love--even though I wish my favorite Disney princess had more songs in her film.
So how can't people forgive relatively unknown historical inaccuracies and CAN forgive famous mythological inaccuracies?! Mythology is part of history too and Disney tampered WAAAAAY too much with it! Literally nearly everything is inaccurate, from Zeus's relation to Hades to not acual Titans maybe more representing the primordial beings! I don't know all of mythology, but I'd rather have God of War 2006-3 inaccuracies than fucking Hercules. They made a marketable version of him which they ironically referenced in the movie.
I adore Beauty and the Beast, but the ongoing story is definitely worth so much less than the sum of its parts if you canonize the direct-to-video sequels.
Everybody gangsta until Yinsed ranks the Disney Renaissance films

So I guess I have to make an apology video for what I done to you
You'll be hearing from my lawyers very soon.
Aladdin is my favourite of this era! The songs are fun, Jafar and Iago are a hilarious villain duo, and Robin Williams as the Genie was peak casting!

24:41 AYYYYYYY
Hercules at the 8th spot? YOU BETTER SLEEP WITH ONE EYE OPEN!

5:47 still better than Ralph Breaks the Internet in My Opinion!!

Yummo Cut was a mistake
I will never be whole again.
to be honest, Lion King should be number 1!
Aladdin took an L here
