I mean this in the most complimentary way possible: It is SO reassuring to see a crochet artist who fucks up as often as I do! What I mean is that, when you see other crochet artists online, their projects are always _perfect._ Any mistakes they make are nit-picky or perfectionist, or they're edited out and unknown to the world. But in these videos, you show that you miscounted, that you chose the wrong number of squares, that you can't make up your mind on the _right_ number, that you cut in the wrong spot or that you left an ugly seam _but it's on the inside so it's fine!_ And you also show that, even when you make mistakes, even if you're absolutely winging your solutions, even if they're frustrating and disappointing, you keep going anyway. And the end result is still something wonderful and worth having made. It's just so fucking nice to see that I'm not the only one making these mistakes, that I'm not _bad_ at crocheting for having made them, and most importantly, that they don't prevent you from having a finished piece worth making. It's just really, really nice to see someone who makes such beautiful things also make the same kind of blunders that I do, and prevail anyway 💕
I think the best part of making things, is making mistakes and finding creative ways to solve them! Sometimes i figure out a new way to do something that I wouldn’t have thought of if I hadn’t made a mistake 😊🧡
LOVE all of the orange in the blanket and cardigan 😍. Orange being my favorite color 😂. Turned out phenomenal. Hope you love & wear it as much as you expected to.
the stress i felt when you began cutting 😂 absolutely love the colors, and it's great to see this get used and not left in a thrift store somewhere, forgotten!
What a beautiful find. I’d love to come across something like that blanket at savers. I love that I’m not the only one winging it through the inevitable mistakes that come with almost every project 😅
I love that you repurposed that blanket into a wearable. I grew up in the 60's and 70's. I remember our living room having those colors. My mom used to crochet a lot. There were plenty of afghans and pillows. That RedHeart yarn lasted forever back then. It was sturdy stuff.
Time to hit up the thrift store.I've been wanting to crochet a cardigan like this but it's sooooo much work and yes it get expensive for all the colors!. This is a way better option. lol Yours came out super cute! Thanks for the inspiration & video!
Just discovered your channel and so excited to try this project (and other ones you have videos for!) This turned out so cute & fun--thanks for sharing it & inspiring me!
This is one of my fav sweaters that you have made. IMO the 4 square length looks great. LOVE the colours. 10/10! I love that you figure things out as you go along. I do that also as I find following a pattern really tedious.
This turned out beautifully! Those colors are wonderful. For the different size squares, something similar happened to me when I set a blanket aside, got sidetracked and didn’t go back to it for a year. I suck at writing down which hook I’m using and keeping that info with the project, so of course I ended up using a slightly smaller hook. 🤦🏻♀️ The different joins, though, make me wonder if someone else finished a blanket that someone else had started. That would also explain the different square sizes. You also made me rethink my weaving in and joining strategy. I tend to do what the person who made the blanket did, and make it so it is never, ever going to come apart. But if I ever decide to repurpose anything I’ve made, that’s clearly going to be a problem.
This turned out so so cute! That length looks really good on you and I love the longer ribbing on the sleeve. This video is such a great learning tool. I’m thrifting today with my sister and I will be looking at blankets in a whole new light!! I so want to do this. Having enough left for a bag or two or a smaller blanket- genius! Thanks for sharing your creative process with us ❤️
I think some of those squares were JAYGO (Join As You GO) added, which would mean they were actually crocheted on rather than sewn. I say this as someone who has ripped apart JAYGOs thinking they were sewn. 😅 Still turned out great! I love those colors.
This cardigan looks great. I don’t watch your crocheting videos usually since it’s not a hobby of mine. I don’t know why I thought maybe this would be you using a sewing machine to make it. Haha silly me. Thanks for sharing.
It's such a great way to use that blanket it looks so good. Just an idea, but I thought you could make a sweater or something for your cat. I've made some stuff for my cat, and she looked really cute in it.❤❤❤
For the remainder of the blanket, I think some granny square pants/joggers would look really cute!! You could have a whole fit of these amazing colorsssss 😮💨🫨 (Plus I haven’t made any yet and it would be neat to have a pioneer to watch do it first 🤪)
I absolutely love the colors in this granny blanket and I love your idea. It looks so freakin cute. Well done Michelle 👏👏👏, thank you making this Thrift Flip.
It really turned out great. Part of me would rather just make the squares. Or I’m jealous my charity shops never have such a great find. I think 5 in the back would have put the top of the sleeve way too far down your arms. But I do love it.
I absolutely love the colors in this!!!! I just started crocheting, and making a whole cardigan is still so intimidating to me. I feel like this would be a great way for me to learn how to assemble one, even though taking it apart is a lot of work in itself. But, like you said, recreating the colors would not be cost effective at all. Plus you are making your own work of art out of someone else's and helping it to live on and I just love that! ❤❤❤ I would totally purchase the rest of that blanket from you btw. Just sayin lol.
Those colors are AMAZING on you. For a moment I thought maybe you were gunna go 70’s duster length. Overall I think it turned out great. What stitch do you use for the ribbing?
That was a good job! I havent even thought about attempting something like this lol. Ive watched several of your frochet videos now and am wondering about variegated yarn; is it "kosher crocheting" to use it? I bought some autumn colored variegated yarn last night with a solid, looks 70s enough to me!

@@michelle_jasek I love that! That's so true, too! Thanks for that insight, I love that angle!
LOVE all of the orange in the blanket and cardigan 😍. Orange being my favorite color 😂. Turned out phenomenal. Hope you love & wear it as much as you expected to.
Soak in water with a splash of vinegar and hair conditioner. Makes the cheapo yarn much softer! Great colors!
Soak the yarn, or the Afghan, I the water mixture? And how long?
That turned out amazing!!! Re: the different size squares, it just goes to show how forgiving granny square blankets are, lol
And you don't have to weave in all those ends 😭
That was the best part of this project was not having to weave in all those ends!
I love this! Giving new life to that blanket. Genius idea and it looks so good!
this is so cute! i personally am a huge fan of the length. it gives a long cardigan feel.
I love that you are repurposing the blanket. Instead of trying to color match with new yarn.
Good lord now I need to thrift a granny square blanket….love the cardigan!
the stress i felt when you began cutting 😂 absolutely love the colors, and it's great to see this get used and not left in a thrift store somewhere, forgotten!
I was shouting 5 at the screen when you said 4 squares back and 2 each side at front!! I LOVE this though 🥰
It’s perfect the way it is. Not shorter and not wider. Love this one❤.
What a beautiful find. I’d love to come across something like that blanket at savers. I love that I’m not the only one winging it through the inevitable mistakes that come with almost every project 😅
I agree. Usually I don’t like something about all my DI Y projects. Rarely is it perfect
This is really helpful, I have an afghan my mother made for me, I'm gonna try making me a jacket. Thank you!
This is stunning 😍 and what an amazing second life you've give to someone else's hard work 🥲❤️
Love repurposing secondand blankets- you gave it a whole new life. And I may be biased because I have an undying love for orange, but it is perfect!

This turned out so cute!!! Thank you for sharing!
I can't believe that you made a cardigan out of it! It looks soo good! I would lose my mind doing that, fer sure!
Time to hit up the thrift store.I've been wanting to crochet a cardigan like this but it's sooooo much work and yes it get expensive for all the colors!. This is a way better option. lol Yours came out super cute! Thanks for the inspiration & video!
I'd love to see the 5 square back, hoodie style of this! I'll even use it as a gauge diagram for my first sweater!
I would have made a pair of pants to match. Really nice for a 70's party

Love the cardigan! The colors are amazing. You could make a beautiful skirt wirh the leftovers.❤
You should totally make a set of matching pants instead of the hoodie. It would be so cute. Either way the cardigan came out awesome
I absolutely love what you did here! Now I am going to have to be on a hunt for Thrifted blankets!
This turned out beautifully! Those colors are wonderful.

i love this video,, i sew my ends really well, sometimes i cannot undo my own work lol, i dont want anything coming undone
This turned out so so cute! That length looks really good on you and I love the longer ribbing on the sleeve. This video is such a great learning tool. that's so amazing !
i haven't crocheted any blanket or cardigan yet but video will probably be usefull for me later 👀

this is such a cool idea i want to do it…
Hi Michelle 🤗 sooo clever! 👏🏻👏🏻🥰🧶🤩
Adorable!

It looks so good! It fits your aesthetic perfectly.
I actually love the length!! It's a nice long cozy cardigan. With some of those extra squares you could try making granny square pants or overalls.
It's such a great way to use that blanket it looks so good. Just an idea, but I thought you could make a sweater or something for your cat. I've made some stuff for my cat, and she looked really cute in it.❤❤❤
This turned out AWESOME!
I loved it as a blanket. You are very creative though
This is really beautiful. I honestly would never have thought to make a cardigan from a blanket. Lovely 👏
For the remainder of the blanket, I think some granny square pants/joggers would look really cute!! You could have a whole fit of these amazing colorsssss 😮💨🫨

Michelle I love this sm!! I swear you come up with the coolest ideas lol you got lucky finding the blanket
I absolutely love the colors in this granny blanket and I love your idea. It looks so freakin cute. Well done Michelle 👏👏👏, thank you making this Thrift Flip.
What a cool project!! Loved how it turned out! Great job!
So cute

I can relate wit u girl!😆

that is so adorable!
I think your problem with taking apart the blanket is because they used Join as you Go.
I bought a crochet blanket just for this!! However, I don't crochet! Do you have videos describing how to do the ribbing technique??
I love the length!
Nice!
oh no now i wanna make one
Those colors are AMAZING on you. For a moment I thought maybe you were gunna go 70’s duster length. Overall I think it turned out great. What stitch do you use for the ribbing?
I used a single crochet for the ribbing stitches
That was a good job! I havent even thought about attempting something like this lol.
Ive watched several of your frochet videos now and am wondering about variegated yarn; is it "kosher crocheting" to use it? I bought some autumn colored variegated yarn last night with a solid, looks 70s enough to me!
Are you going crochet pants one day or other clothings you haven’t before?
I totally want to!
Did you make anything else with the leftovers? And I love thisssss
Make a matching mini skirt!
Your cat might need a cover for the cat bed made out of this...
how your learning knitting ? :)
to much silly talk……………
