  • We think Montecatini Terme doesn’t get the recognition it deserves! This small Tuscan town is a great hub for exploring the region and its many storied locales, including the Renaissance home of Florence (just a 1-hour train ride away) and the walled town of Lucca (only 30 minutes by train).
    Once a relaxing retreat for the Medici family and a famous spa town for Italian luminaries like Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini, Montecatini Terme remains a worthwhile destination. We spent our time exploring the stately Terme Tettuccio, where you can drink the healing waters of the area, walking through the verdant Parco delle Terme, and hiking up to Montecatini Alto, the town’s historical hilltop center.
    We spent a lot of time exploring this underrated gem and really grew to love it-for its history and music, food and spas, lush green spaces and bustling shopping areas. In this video, get to know the ins and outs of Montecatini Terme and why you may want to add it to your Tuscany travels.

      Thanks for watching. The hike next to the Funicolare di Montecatini Terme, cable car, was our favorite as you can see at 10:26

    Great video, I stayed in Montecatini last year, going back next month as loved it and great to visit other places from. Could you tell me the name of the Pizza place you went too and where is the cafe Sweet please. Many thanks 😊

      Thank you, we appreciate the kind words. The name of the pizza place is Pizzeria Da Simone, which is located in central Montecatini-Terme. Cafe Sweet is a little away from the center at Viale Balducci 9, Montecatini. Are you visiting Montecatini soon again?

      It sure is, and just a joy to walk in mostly if all as well. Tettuccio as well as the Montecatini Alto hike were wonderful. Have you been to Montecatini?

    What is the main train station? I believe there are two in town? A realtor suggested we put this town on our 'visit' list when we are in Florence this fall. She believes it's a great location if we want to be between Lucca and Florence.

      Thanks for watching! When are you visiting Montecatini? We stayed near Montecatini Centro. This station is the smaller train station. Yes, there are two train stations in town, Montecatini Terme and Montecatini Centro
      It is definitely a great location to be for easy access to both Lucca and Florence. We were staying near the Centro station and honestly, it was probably our least favorite thing about the town! It is tiny and the machines never worked. The Terme station is bigger and probably better to use. That said, the trains were usually timely and when we had to take a bus during a train strike it was a smooth process. We would definitely put this town on your “visit” list and we recommend walking around all the different areas, especially north of the center and around Parco delle Terme. Enjoy your trip to Tuscany and let us know what you think of Montecatini! and is situated close to the centre of the town, just a 2 minute walk to Piazza del Popolo.

    What is the weather like in Nov? what month was this filmed?

    • @BigSmallTravel
      @BigSmallTravel  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching! We were in Montecatini in late May and early June. The weather was a little cool but starting to get warm. Tuscan winters are chilly and rainy. November is a nice time to travel because there are less tourists around in general.
