@@memo5230 He's not joking. Those yellow attacks are blockable with the biggest shield. I found the king rather easy too. My hardest one was the lightning dude.
Yea I gave up going for the main guy dying a bunch and after getting the sister's 0hp yet they still completed their attack b4 they died n killed me. I decided to go after the sisters just without realm shift gear. i used the regular armour u start the game with.
Same. Too often i would focus on the main guy while the sisters were taking pot shots at me and it wrecked me. The one time i decide to ignore the other guy and take out the sisters first i beat them in one try.
I tried this on GNA as well. It straight up melts her. It does so much damage so fast I think her move set gets thrown off and never hits her batshit crazy stage.
@@g3neralcross911 I used Luminous Recovery....if you keep doing the scorching earth move over and over it will cooldown your runic attacks and keep her stunned.

After a shield bash or an attack with the chaos blades even mid combo pause a bit then the controller will vibrate immediately press triangle and you will have a fully charged whiplash thats how i time to have a fully charged whiplash attack during mid combo
If you pause momentarily after light or heavy attack, there will be a slight vibration on your controller. That's the indicator to press 🔺️ for fully charged Flame Whiplash... Vibration also presents on other weapons. Fast Frost Awaken & also the indicator for Whirlwind Sweep combo for Leviathan Axe, & fully charged Draupnir Wail for Draupnir Spear...
I just can’t get it to work period. I have the exact build and follow the instructions but he keeps moving and I can’t get more than two flame whiplashes in. Plus they don’t do near as much as innthenvideo

with the three-beserkers-at-once fight - it's much easier to first take out the two wizards with the shared health bar. if you take out the brawler first then the two wizards will agro up and become way more difficult. but if you take them out first the remaining fighter doesn't get any tougher.
Agreed. I somehow beat the brawler one first after trying 60 or 70 times lmao and barely managed to kill the sisters after but I would’ve had an easier time doing what you said

Speaking on this as of 1/30/23, you cannot kill him like that on GMGOW. I’ve tried 100 times, the most you can do is take 50%. The way I went about it was timing everything right, got him to half health, then played normally. If you parry his attacks a lot, you can build back your relic quickly and freeze him to do the method again. But as far as this video goes, It’s not possible to do this on GMGOW. IF this example is even on GMGOW. Good luck to everyone, it’s tricky but it is possible!
Just fyi for anyone wondering how people are able to delete bosses and you can't, it's because all these TH-camrs played the game before the dlc update came out and the ng+ update. There was a glitch that allowed players to do insane amounts of damage but after the updates everyone has to struggle with the bosses and enemies until you learn their movement patterns. The only way to delete bosses as quick as possible is you have to beat the game over and over and collect all the permanent stat increase items and Rinse and repeat. Any up to date TH-cam videos of players deleting bosses in today's current update of the game, are just beating the game over and over making everything they use really powerful. Sorry for the rant the god of war community likes to gate keep very important information.
This seems accurate to me as well. I am currently trying BK on give me balance. I have executed the combo above flawlessly numerous times and I have never gotten close to the amount of damage with his scorched earth. I think the above build is likely out of date and actually, I think Berserker armor is not the best piece in the game before NG+ but likely Lunda
Just you so you know, the DualSense vibrates when you are in the "momentarily after an attack" position after the shield bash. Initially I was using the shield graphic as well, but you don't need to. The controller lets you know when to press triangle. Also, when you are going from triangle to R2, you want the motion to be almost instant. Press and hold triangle and almost, but not quite at the same time hit R2. It's kind of like button plinking in a fighting game. You're basically flicking your thumb into pointer. After I realized the controller vibrates when you are in the "ready" position, it made it so much easier doing the Whiplash after *any* blades attack or combo. edit: Assuming the Dualshock 4 does something similar for PS4 players. There's probably not a faster build for bursting a single target down, but it's not the best for endurance fights since it relies too much on the relic gimmick. There's a build that uses the relic you get from the king that essentially refreshes all your runic attacks and the relic has a chance to refresh itself just as it is completing its damage cycle.
Dude idk why but I’m having so much trouble getting the effect to work for Flame Whiplash II. After my shield strike (L1+L1) I follow up by pressing triangle and it won’t instantaneously fully charged. I tried and lost 5 times against the Berserker King before I went to practice the timing in the Niflheim Arena. Now, I’m not proud to admit this but, I’ve sat here for an hour and I’ve tried everything that I can think of it still has not happened ONCE. Does anyone have any theories on what I might be doing wrong? P.s. Helpful answers only please! *Telling me it’s bc I suck, while technically true, isn’t a solution)
Thank you champ. Took me at most a dozen times with this build, but finally did it. RNG came in clutch. The berserker king went into his charge attack and that gave me four hits of the whiplash down to an 1/8 of his health
I really hope ng+ is more expansive. Hope there are more skills more runics and more levels for our weapons and possibly new enemies/bosses just for ng+ only
U are hoping for far too much my friend, new runics would be very nice, hope that happens. But considering what they've done with 2018 new game +, we can definitely expect more gear
If anyone is having trouble getting any of these items for this build, just use Lundas set and fist your way through bosses in GMGOW. Is not as fast or as flashy as some other builds but, it was fun punching every boss to death
@@freshgams427 I felt so squisy using Lundas. the damage was nice but really felt like you'd be near death after taking 1 decent hit. But i guess i got used to being more tanky using my other build
@@Darqion You’re build must’ve been a lot different than mine then. I used full poison and it was well rounded I was able to take 1-2 maybe 3 hits on higher difficulties against end game bosses using my poison build
@@Darqion berserker class can get you one tapped pretty easy because of the perks along with it. It takes more health while doing more damage. With the Lunda set I created a poison/parry build
For the 3 berserker fight I recommend using the runic you get from the 4th raven chest for the axe maxed that out and you'll have the sisters at half of their health use the homing attack from the axe afterwards and attack the main berserker with your spear or blade the spear is more better in my opinion since you can quickly use the range attacks to get rid of the unblockable ice or fireball they throw at you or take them out of the ice or fire artillery strike move they do for the spear I recommend the artillery strike runic if you got a spare second throw the artillery strike on one of the sisters or the berserker himself it will cause alot of stagger gives you time to call your axe back of use the blades and the light attack he used in this video
For literally every Berserker and the Berserker King I used the relic that gives some rage boost. I probably should’ve used the realm shift but I got used to the rage relic
I think this strategy has been patched / nerfed into oblivion. I have all the pieces, perfected the timing with the blades and all of the procs (some of which are RNG; the spear detonation buff is not guaranteed; procs maybe 50-60% of the time). My King’s behavior is different. He doesn’t stay stun-locked like yours does anywhere near as long. It’s possible to get 3 blades hits in occasionally, but that only gets him down to about 50% health. I’d advise anyone thinking about pursuing this build to hold off. Probably not worth the resources anymore, honestly.
also after testing it out more I was never getting the damage even close to what he was getting until I lowered the difficulty to Give me a story. I do not believe this is a normal difficulty play through.
Btw, after you shield bash, and you're trying to time triangle, there's a vibration on the controller right as your shield hits the sweet spot. I think this vibration is deliberate to help you time the triangle. I'm not even holding it down, I'm just tapping it. Hope this helps other people. P.S. I'm using wireless on PC which puts the dual sense in "backup vibration mode" meaning the vibration for non haptics on the dual sense. I haven't tested this plugged in with haptics.
@@TrustMeMore upgrade blades of chaos shields can give runic and some armours I use vidar waist piece and vidar braces and breast piece is the survival one u start with I have about 370 strength 280 defence 200 runic and I am working to make the build he has in the video
I kinda came up with a similar build - and quickly realized that this was a perfect example of min maxing the fun out of the game. Switched back into my old trusty realm shift glass canon, cause that runic spam thing just makes everything a joke lol.
So I’m using the same exact build with the same exact technique, but I’m getting NOWHERE near the damage shown here; I get the boss to half health if I’m lucky. I’m noticing that the shield bash/blade combo does a ton more damage here compared to my experience. Also, the King’s health bar never gets green. Am missing something here?
Same. An hour in and you can only get 2-3 shield bash combos if you’re lucky if he isn’t doing a charge attack (like victory or the poison one). When he’s doing those you can get 4 if you’re lucky before he throws his hammer down to do massive damage and interrupt you. My best run was down to 2 bars of health
@@ericscott7560 I actually beat him earlier today; got him down to half health after the initial flurry, then just played smart and wore him down the old fashioned way. By that point I was able to pull off the Bifrost storm again because, which definitely helped.
Yeah I guess this will be the same experience for most of us average players. These guys are aliens having put in a ridiculous amount of hours in combat and have reading boss moves down to a science.
I just beat the King on GM No Mercy mode with a standard Lunda build and he wasn't too hard. My biggest tip is to use Spartans Fury. Anytime you see yourself get into a bind(like miss a parry) instantly go into Fury and get out of it. This will save you and slightly stun the king giving you a small window to atk. If you do this quick enough you give yourself a bunch of safety nets.
exactly what i did with spartan’s fury on gmgow. going for parries endlessly and burning meter to get myself out of jail free. it was a super super fun way to fight the king.
The Berserker king was so afraid of me that he glitched out and went underground and died. He knew my 100th time facing him was the good one and decided not to face me. 😅
This feels more like a Soulsborne strat of stacking buffs in a specific order with a near zero margin for error in the timing window when everything is active. I attempted this dozens of times on Hrolf and Gna with only partial success and definitely not the damage output shown in the video. My stats are slightly higher than shown due to the Yggdrasil dew drops and the ingredients sidequest that gives you +5 to all stats. You are at the mercy of RNG to get perfect positioning of the boss and their move sequence to not jump away, Gna especially. Even if I could get the shield bash to Whiplash combo going, I could only get Gna or Hrolf to half health before the relic ran out or their hyperarmor activated and you can't stun them any more then they jump away. At that point this becomes a glass cannon build because your defense is so low you get oneshot by anything beyond a basic attach. This was on No Mercy difficulty. This setup is really only suited for specific 1v1 boss encounters and basically useless for group mob encounters, meaning whenver NG+ comes I don't see using this to carry you through the entire game on a GMGoW run.
I don’t know if there were a shadow patch but I did the exact same build, fully upgraded every item to its fullest and my stats are slightly higher than your build. The only problem I’m having is the King isn’t getting stunned by Rage and the blades (L1+triangle). I’ve gotten WAY FURTHER than I have with my build but he’s not getting stunned, but I’ll get ‘em.
I’m pretty sure flame whiplash isn’t L1 + triangle since that’s your immolation ability. You’re supposed to hold triangle and press R2 I think. But if I’m wrong you can go to your skill tree for your blades of chaos and go down to flame whiplash and see the inputs that are required to activate the ability
Yeah I thought the same… Same exact build and levels but I only get him down a little above half health before my realm shift ends and he starts running away. Doesn’t do anywhere near the damage shown in vid. Very odd. I can get about three of the triangle attacks down with all buffs and he’s still over half health
@@tylerj3855 He’s most likely on an easier difficulty, I had the same thing happen to me with Gna where I only got her to half health. But to do more damage I equipped the realm shift ability for my blades of chaos so the second my relic wears off my realm shift for my blades will be full to activate which gives me more time to use my flame whiplash again
I’ve tried the EXACT same method as this over and over for about the past hour or so. Reckon they’ve patched it mayb. His health is going down to just below half and that’s it
You need to make sure that you are close enough to the enemy so they will be caught up in the Bifrost storm that triggers after the runic attacks. The bifrost storm is what melts that health bar
i found it easier to focus on the sisters first, the boss doesnt have any long distant attacks and i was always getting killed because they would use a spell off screen
Does this crap still work? I can barely hit 2 whiplashes before the realm shift ends and he runs away.. it is not even taking 3 bars out of his health. :(
I have a build that beats him or Gna in 2-3 hits. With the Asgard amulet pieces you want your cooldown to be ultra high. So equip with the highest cooldown weapons/armor with beserker chest piece. Hunter gauntlets and waist do the best.

I followed this build guide to the letter, got the timing down for the whiplash, and my whiplash is not doing near that much damage even on Give Me Balance. I've gotta be missing something. I hit him with my three light runics to trigger bifrost storm, pop a valor, pop relic, and then I can get off about two shield bash whiplashes before the realm shift ends and they do about half the damage as they're doing in this video.
I have the same problem. Im not missing anything. Only half of the health down.. anyway i beat him and gna but way harder than the video. Maby they changed something in patch 3.0
You need some luck to reproduce what you can see in the video. That’s what nobody tells you. First you must use 3 runic attacks to activate Bifrost aura. Second you must pray the King will do his big green aura attack as in that state his defence is greatly decreased. Third use Freya’s runic attack of poison (that lowers King’s level). Fourth use relic to Realm Shift. Then you can spam those triangle blades attacks. You should be able to do 3 of them. Then it depends what King makes next. So it takes many tries to make video like this and it doesn’t mean you can always do that the same way. For GNA that doesn’t work as she doesn’t make that green area attack. But you can take a lot of damage using that combo to her. But not so much as to King.
For any of the berserkers(bar the king), i would suggest lunda’s set that have a high luck chance to apply poison with your fists and i helped me a lot

I've only had experience with the 3 berserkers and closest I've gotten i was 2 lvls below and almost took out the main one. I'm watching and hearing people's accounts of the king and gna being harder than sigrun from the last game and she was the last boss I couldn't beat (she's still alive on my run years ago) I might have to join your boat 😂 so don't worry.
My only real gripe with the game is that while they finally increased the boss variety there's no post game option to replay all these bosses in an arena, that and a boss rush mode would really be the icing on the cake for this game
That sounds like an excellent idea , they could have put it in Muspelheim and the requirements for them would be in my opinion to beat the main game and to have to beat that boss in the world first if you want to see it in the arena , like Hollow Knight and Godhome , the only thing I would take away is the cinematics from the main bosses as they would get annoying , just give us the fight . I had to make a save state for King Hroki and GNA to fight them when I want to because if I saved after I beat them I couldn't fight them again and I am not playing the whole game again , I did the same for Sigrun in the 2018 version .

@@Bmx2live2008 Another great idea , they could add all the bosses or have you choose which ones you want , but I think an Arena like this would work better with optional bosses tho , not sure how they would put the main bosses in , it would be too messy and take too much time I would reckon but a gauntlet of all good optional bosses from both games in Ragnarok , sign me up . I just beat Hroki and GNA on GMGOW without taking damage so that would be great for me .
@@saula8948 Even the bosses from the story could be added, remove the story specific cutscene trigger and just have them play their updated move set at the same HP numbers, all the fight dialogue is already in the game, they could just throw some glowy eyes on there and call them "echos of battles past" or something like that and add it to the lore
I'm a little confused by using Vidars bracers and waist. It is just for the raw strength, or is the 'combo finisher' damage increase somehow being applied to whiplash?
It's likely just for the raw strength. The build in this video is 500+ strength, which lends to the damage output quite a lot. Combo finishers specifically refer to the skills that unlock the r1, r1, r1, r2 combos.
I wish endgame bosses can be reset. I wanna kill them all again & again & again. The whole game is empty, I killed everything. The sparring chamber should have bosses added when you kill them.
I do exactly everything like you explainded and in realm shift i can only do the triangle R2 2 times and than he jumps away. Cant hold him in place. Am i missing something?
Trying to figure out different combinations, I had actually come to the conclusion that berserker chest + vidar for waist and belt were the best combinations. I also had literally the same grips for blades and axe. Why not use the shield rond and spear handle that also give strength? Also, interesting choice of amulet pieced. Will try.
I also noticed how quickly I’d lose Health while doing this exact method, I know his stack patterns change each play through, but I never got lucky enough to have time to wail on him the way that is shown in this video
I noticed that too. My fight build against the berserker king and Gná had Defence at 486 (twice as much as his on this video) and Hrolf always hit 1/3 of my health bar with his normal attacks. I played these on Gimme No Mercy.
I beat this game on the second hardest difficulty no you tube vids or anything. Just raw dogging the game definitely spent days on certain bosses the berserkers don’t even get me started. Fighting the trio took me 8 hours within 2 days.
I beat every boss and Valkyrie without using realm shifts. I am an evader. I spammed Runic Storm though. Used Surtr Chest for the increased damage, and the maxed out default waist and arms for the Stats. I took me 20 minutes of trying to beat King Hrolf which quite impressive for me as I am a noob. The Runic Storm and knowing when to Shield parry are key I think (although I mostly evaded which is wrong). I use the Expedition on my shield too for the cooldown. Fast cooling runics and I recommend using the Relic for realm shift although my dumb ass was using Meign. From what I see its OP.
All the berserker fights that make you 2v1 or 3v1 are honestly dog shit design fights and i’ll be the first to say it. Before the drones say that “you’re just bad” I beat them in GMGOW, still makes it a shitty designed fight with how limiting the camera is.
For real. The combat design in 2018 and ragnarok is terrible for the berserkers and valkyries. I feel like the leads on the game just let them do whatever they wanted and didnt even bother to check it before release. If theres a 3rd game in the norse saga, which I'm really hoping for, they need to change these fights to something more reasonable & less intense. I understand its optional but I like being a completionist/platinuming. And I do like a small bit of a challenge, but theres a fine line. It sucks that GMNM is so difficult, but yet changing to give me balance makes me destroy berserkers too easily. Theres no middle ground
@@angelogalimba133 yup it’s not as good as the video but still very effective (the best thing that can be done against Gna and the Berserker King). You’ll still struggle but you’ll definitely beat them in 6 or 7 tries maximum 👍🏻 I beat them both without NG+ or any additional thing besides base-game. Did it & Platinumed the game on both ps5 and ps4

Also you can use a MASSIVE help from the accessibility which is “Boss Checkpoints” which means when you damage the boss to half or more of their helth and you die, then after u battle them again you’ll restart the fight with half of their health (while your health is full).
To be fair - this wouldn’t make the game very fun at all. This is the reason I personally don’t care for the OP builds. They take away the element of skill / achievement. Yes, it’s cool to create a build that can obliterate enemies / bosses but it certainly wouldn’t make the game enjoyable to play as it all the time. (That might just be me though.. I like to learn game mechanics and / win a flashy kind of way (ie realm break builds). Beating a boss in 20 seconds wouldn’t come off as an achievement to “me.”

Surtr Chest Survival arms and Waist (max the default armors they give stats in all sectors) How do u activate so many Realm shifts? Is it because of the Blades Grips? You are spamming Whiplash and then L1 + Triangle? I already beat Hrolf and Gna - I found Gna more annoying btw
yea it's not the same when ur playing GMGOW, whenever ur attacking him with the combos he isn't stunned by them and just attacks u while doing ur combo instantly killing u, i recommend using a different tactic, or if u are able to do it in GMGOW ur just godly

If you pause momentarily after light or heavy attack, there will be a slight vibration on your controller. That's the indicator to press 🔺️ for fully charged Flame Whiplash...
Vibration also presents on other weapons. Fast Frost Awaken & also the indicator for Whirlwind Sweep combo for Leviathan Axe, & fully charged Draupnir Wail for Draupnir Spear...

I just can’t get it to work period. I have the exact build and follow the instructions but he keeps moving and I can’t get more than two flame whiplashes in. Plus they don’t do near as much as innthenvideo

with the three-beserkers-at-once fight - it's much easier to first take out the two wizards with the shared health bar. if you take out the brawler first then the two wizards will agro up and become way more difficult. but if you take them out first the remaining fighter doesn't get any tougher.

Speaking on this as of 1/30/23, you cannot kill him like that on GMGOW. I’ve tried 100 times, the most you can do is take 50%.
The way I went about it was timing everything right, got him to half health, then played normally.
If you parry his attacks a lot, you can build back your relic quickly and freeze him to do the method again.
But as far as this video goes, It’s not possible to do this on GMGOW. IF this example is even on GMGOW. Good luck to everyone, it’s tricky but it is possible!

Just fyi for anyone wondering how people are able to delete bosses and you can't, it's because all these TH-camrs played the game before the dlc update came out and the ng+ update. There was a glitch that allowed players to do insane amounts of damage but after the updates everyone has to struggle with the bosses and enemies until you learn their movement patterns. The only way to delete bosses as quick as possible is you have to beat the game over and over and collect all the permanent stat increase items and Rinse and repeat.
Any up to date TH-cam videos of players deleting bosses in today's current update of the game, are just beating the game over and over making everything they use really powerful.

This seems accurate to me as well. I am currently trying BK on give me balance. I have executed the combo above flawlessly numerous times and I have never gotten close to the amount of damage with his scorched earth. I think the above build is likely out of date and actually, I think Berserker armor is not the best piece in the game before NG+ but likely Lunda
Just you so you know, the DualSense vibrates when you are in the "momentarily after an attack" position after the shield bash. Initially I was using the shield graphic as well, but you don't need to. The controller lets you know when to press triangle. Also, when you are going from triangle to R2, you want the motion to be almost instant. Press and hold triangle and almost, but not quite at the same time hit R2. It's kind of like button plinking in a fighting game. You're basically flicking your thumb into pointer.
After I realized the controller vibrates when you are in the "ready" position, it made it so much easier doing the Whiplash after *any* blades attack or combo.
edit: Assuming the Dualshock 4 does something similar for PS4 players.
There's probably not a faster build for bursting a single target down, but it's not the best for endurance fights since it relies too much on the relic gimmick. There's a build that uses the relic you get from the king that essentially refreshes all your runic attacks and the relic has a chance to refresh itself just as it is completing its damage cycle.

Dude idk why but I’m having so much trouble getting the effect to work for Flame Whiplash II. After my shield strike (L1+L1) I follow up by pressing triangle and it won’t instantaneously fully charged.
I tried and lost 5 times against the Berserker King before I went to practice the timing in the Niflheim Arena. Now, I’m not proud to admit this but, I’ve sat here for an hour and I’ve tried everything that I can think of it still has not happened ONCE.
Does anyone have any theories on what I might be doing wrong?

Thank you champ. Took me at most a dozen times with this build, but finally did it. RNG came in clutch. The berserker king went into his charge attack and that gave me four hits of the whiplash down to an 1/8 of his health

If anyone is having trouble getting any of these items for this build, just use Lundas set and fist your way through bosses in GMGOW. Is not as fast or as flashy as some other builds but, it was fun punching every boss to death

You’re build must’ve been a lot different than mine then. I used full poison and it was well rounded I was able to take 1-2 maybe 3 hits on higher difficulties against end game bosses using my poison build
@@Darqion berserker class can get you one tapped pretty easy because of the perks along with it. It takes more health while doing more damage. With the Lunda set I created a poison/parry build
Idk what difficulty you guys were playing on lmao. On gmgow you don’t just straight up get 1 shot.
For the 3 berserker fight I recommend using the runic you get from the 4th raven chest for the axe maxed that out and you'll have the sisters at half of their health use the homing attack from the axe afterwards and attack the main berserker with your spear or blade the spear is more better in my opinion since you can quickly use the range attacks to get rid of the unblockable ice or fireball they throw at you or take them out of the ice or fire artillery strike move they do for the spear I recommend the artillery strike runic if you got a spare second throw the artillery strike on one of the sisters or the berserker himself it will cause alot of stagger gives you time to call your axe back of use the blades and the light attack he used in this video

For literally every Berserker and the Berserker King I used the relic that gives some rage boost. I probably should’ve used the realm shift but I got used to the rage relic
Knowing im not the only one having their mind send through the ringer with the Beserker King makes me feel seen
I think this strategy has been patched / nerfed into oblivion. I have all the pieces, perfected the timing with the blades and all of the procs (some of which are RNG; the spear detonation buff is not guaranteed; procs maybe 50-60% of the time).
My King’s behavior is different. He doesn’t stay stun-locked like yours does anywhere near as long. It’s possible to get 3 blades hits in occasionally, but that only gets him down to about 50% health.
I’d advise anyone thinking about pursuing this build to hold off. Probably not worth the resources anymore, honestly.

also after testing it out more I was never getting the damage even close to what he was getting until I lowered the difficulty to Give me a story. I do not believe this is a normal difficulty play through.

Btw, after you shield bash, and you're trying to time triangle, there's a vibration on the controller right as your shield hits the sweet spot. I think this vibration is deliberate to help you time the triangle. I'm not even holding it down, I'm just tapping it. Hope this helps other people. P.S. I'm using wireless on PC which puts the dual sense in "backup vibration mode" meaning the vibration for non haptics on the dual sense. I haven't tested this plugged in with haptics.

So I’m using the same exact build with the same exact technique, but I’m getting NOWHERE near the damage shown here; I get the boss to half health if I’m lucky. I’m noticing that the shield bash/blade combo does a ton more damage here compared to my experience. Also, the King’s health bar never gets green. Am missing something here?
Same. An hour in and you can only get 2-3 shield bash combos if you’re lucky if he isn’t doing a charge attack (like victory or the poison one). When he’s doing those you can get 4 if you’re lucky before he throws his hammer down to do massive damage and interrupt you. My best run was down to 2 bars of health
@@ericscott7560 I actually beat him earlier today; got him down to half health after the initial flurry, then just played smart and wore him down the old fashioned way. By that point I was able to pull off the Bifrost storm again because, which definitely helped.

I just beat the King on GM No Mercy mode with a standard Lunda build and he wasn't too hard. My biggest tip is to use Spartans Fury. Anytime you see yourself get into a bind(like miss a parry) instantly go into Fury and get out of it. This will save you and slightly stun the king giving you a small window to atk. If you do this quick enough you give yourself a bunch of safety nets.

The Berserker king was so afraid of me that he glitched out and went underground and died. He knew my 100th time facing him was the good one and decided not to face me. 😅

This feels more like a Soulsborne strat of stacking buffs in a specific order with a near zero margin for error in the timing window when everything is active. I attempted this dozens of times on Hrolf and Gna with only partial success and definitely not the damage output shown in the video. My stats are slightly higher than shown due to the Yggdrasil dew drops and the ingredients sidequest that gives you +5 to all stats. You are at the mercy of RNG to get perfect positioning of the boss and their move sequence to not jump away, Gna especially. Even if I could get the shield bash to Whiplash combo going, I could only get Gna or Hrolf to half health before the relic ran out or their hyperarmor activated and you can't stun them any more then they jump away. At that point this becomes a glass cannon build because your defense is so low you get oneshot by anything beyond a basic attach. This was on No Mercy difficulty. This setup is really only suited for specific 1v1 boss encounters and basically useless for group mob encounters, meaning whenver NG+ comes I don't see using this to carry you through the entire game on a GMGoW run.
I don’t know if there were a shadow patch but I did the exact same build, fully upgraded every item to its fullest and my stats are slightly higher than your build. The only problem I’m having is the King isn’t getting stunned by Rage and the blades (L1+triangle). I’ve gotten WAY FURTHER than I have with my build but he’s not getting stunned, but I’ll get ‘em.
I’m pretty sure flame whiplash isn’t L1 + triangle since that’s your immolation ability. You’re supposed to hold triangle and press R2 I think. But if I’m wrong you can go to your skill tree for your blades of chaos and go down to flame whiplash and see the inputs that are required to activate the ability

He’s most likely on an easier difficulty, I had the same thing happen to me with Gna where I only got her to half health. But to do more damage I equipped the realm shift ability for my blades of chaos so the second my relic wears off my realm shift for my blades will be full to activate which gives me more time to use my flame whiplash again

You need to make sure that you are close enough to the enemy so they will be caught up in the Bifrost storm that triggers after the runic attacks. The bifrost storm is what melts that health bar

i found it easier to focus on the sisters first, the boss doesnt have any long distant attacks and i was always getting killed because they would use a spell off screen

I have a build that beats him or Gna in 2-3 hits. With the Asgard amulet pieces you want your cooldown to be ultra high. So equip with the highest cooldown weapons/armor with beserker chest piece. Hunter gauntlets and waist do the best.

I followed this build guide to the letter, got the timing down for the whiplash, and my whiplash is not doing near that much damage even on Give Me Balance. I've gotta be missing something. I hit him with my three light runics to trigger bifrost storm, pop a valor, pop relic, and then I can get off about two shield bash whiplashes before the realm shift ends and they do about half the damage as they're doing in this video.
Make sure you do one whip and pop your blades r1 triangle too. It's a lot of buttons to do but then you melt them

Nothing is changed just the hp pool is way higher on gmgow then the what is shown in this video
You need some luck to reproduce what you can see in the video. That’s what nobody tells you. First you must use 3 runic attacks to activate Bifrost aura. Second you must pray the King will do his big green aura attack as in that state his defence is greatly decreased. Third use Freya’s runic attack of poison (that lowers King’s level). Fourth use relic to Realm Shift. Then you can spam those triangle blades attacks. You should be able to do 3 of them. Then it depends what King makes next. So it takes many tries to make video like this and it doesn’t mean you can always do that the same way. For GNA that doesn’t work as she doesn’t make that green area attack. But you can take a lot of damage using that combo to her. But not so much as to King.
He is playing on Give Me Grace.
For any of the berserkers(bar the king), i would suggest lunda’s set that have a high luck chance to apply poison with your fists and i helped me a lot
I am not proud to admit it, but I changed the difficulty to give me grace for the Berserker King/Gna/and the 3 Berserkers Fight

I've only had experience with the 3 berserkers and closest I've gotten i was 2 lvls below and almost took out the main one. I'm watching and hearing people's accounts of the king and gna being harder than sigrun from the last game and she was the last boss I couldn't beat (she's still alive on my run years ago) I might have to join your boat 😂 so don't worry.
It works, but must time perfectly and zero mistakes overall.

My only real gripe with the game is that while they finally increased the boss variety there's no post game option to replay all these bosses in an arena, that and a boss rush mode would really be the icing on the cake for this game
That sounds like an excellent idea , they could have put it in Muspelheim and the requirements for them would be in my opinion to beat the main game and to have to beat that boss in the world first if you want to see it in the arena , like Hollow Knight and Godhome , the only thing I would take away is the cinematics from the main bosses as they would get annoying , just give us the fight . I had to make a save state for King Hroki and GNA to fight them when I want to because if I saved after I beat them I couldn't fight them again and I am not playing the whole game again , I did the same for Sigrun in the 2018 version .

@@saula8948 Even the bosses from the story could be added, remove the story specific cutscene trigger and just have them play their updated move set at the same HP numbers, all the fight dialogue is already in the game, they could just throw some glowy eyes on there and call them "echos of battles past" or something like that and add it to the lore

I'm a little confused by using Vidars bracers and waist. It is just for the raw strength, or is the 'combo finisher' damage increase somehow being applied to whiplash?
It's likely just for the raw strength. The build in this video is 500+ strength, which lends to the damage output quite a lot. Combo finishers specifically refer to the skills that unlock the r1, r1, r1, r2 combos.

Trying to figure out different combinations, I had actually come to the conclusion that berserker chest + vidar for waist and belt were the best combinations. I also had literally the same grips for blades and axe. Why not use the shield rond and spear handle that also give strength? Also, interesting choice of amulet pieced. Will try.

I also noticed how quickly I’d lose Health while doing this exact method, I know his stack patterns change each play through, but I never got lucky enough to have time to wail on him the way that is shown in this video
I noticed that too. My fight build against the berserker king and Gná had Defence at 486 (twice as much as his on this video) and Hrolf always hit 1/3 of my health bar with his normal attacks. I played these on Gimme No Mercy.

I beat this game on the second hardest difficulty no you tube vids or anything. Just raw dogging the game definitely spent days on certain bosses the berserkers don’t even get me started. Fighting the trio took me 8 hours within 2 days.

I beat every boss and Valkyrie without using realm shifts. I am an evader. I spammed Runic Storm though.
Used Surtr Chest for the increased damage, and the maxed out default waist and arms for the Stats.
I took me 20 minutes of trying to beat King Hrolf which quite impressive for me as I am a noob.
The Runic Storm and knowing when to Shield parry are key I think (although I mostly evaded which is wrong). I use the Expedition on my shield too for the cooldown. Fast cooling runics and I recommend using the Relic for realm shift although my dumb ass was using Meign. From what I see its OP.
So wait why use the bracers and belt, does the Spinning BOC attack count as a Combo Finisher ?
A really good build if u have it maxed out to lvl 10 is the cloak of the black bear surtrs scorched arm and vidars belt of might
1 year later: save yourself the time, followed the combo to a tee and it definitely don't work anymore. Does barely 2 bars on balanced mode.

What is I am playing with Atreus? Is there any tips for him that you have or just keep playing till you get Freya back?
All the berserker fights that make you 2v1 or 3v1 are honestly dog shit design fights and i’ll be the first to say it.
Before the drones say that “you’re just bad” I beat them in GMGOW, still makes it a shitty designed fight with how limiting the camera is.
For real. The combat design in 2018 and ragnarok is terrible for the berserkers and valkyries. I feel like the leads on the game just let them do whatever they wanted and didnt even bother to check it before release. If theres a 3rd game in the norse saga, which I'm really hoping for, they need to change these fights to something more reasonable & less intense. I understand its optional but I like being a completionist/platinuming. And I do like a small bit of a challenge, but theres a fine line. It sucks that GMNM is so difficult, but yet changing to give me balance makes me destroy berserkers too easily. Theres no middle ground
Does this still work? I’m not doing nearly as much damage despite having the same build, all 4 boosts and freya’s runic attack going simultaneously

@@angelogalimba133 yup it’s not as good as the video but still very effective (the best thing that can be done against Gna and the Berserker King). You’ll still struggle but you’ll definitely beat them in 6 or 7 tries maximum 👍🏻 I beat them both without NG+ or any additional thing besides base-game. Did it & Platinumed the game on both ps5 and ps4
@@superjasim Compared to GNA, king hrolf is manageable. I'll try this method but I guess the best advice is patience lol
@@angelogalimba133 absolutely. Also you can use a MASSIVE help from the accessibility which is “Boss Checkpoints” which means when you damage the boss to half or more of their helth and you die, then after u battle them again you’ll restart the fight with half of their health (while your health is full).
Shadi's Edge is also most useful, so you can use other runic attacks while that one is being used

To be fair - this wouldn’t make the game very fun at all. This is the reason I personally don’t care for the OP builds. They take away the element of skill / achievement. Yes, it’s cool to create a build that can obliterate enemies / bosses but it certainly wouldn’t make the game enjoyable to play as it all the time. (That might just be me though.. I like to learn game mechanics and / win a flashy kind of way (ie realm break builds). Beating a boss in 20 seconds wouldn’t come off as an achievement to “me.”
@@jaysea838yeah i agree with you. This build is crazy tho for people who may not have a lot of time/patience. To each their own tho, personally I love mastering the basics so my build was just the starting armor.
@@jaysea838 i just like to play god of war "realistically" we all know who kratos is and what he's done. So we know that he would literally dogwalk anything that isn't a powerful god like he does in this video. It's not so much the build that makes it boring for me, it's the spamming of the same attack over and over

@Official Zom-B yep. I have everything leveled up too. I'm taking nowhere near the damage off per hit in the bifrost. No idea why
Thanks for the help it took me a million tries. it can’t take the whole life but if done right it can get him down to about 4 bars of health on give me no mercy which is what I beat it on
the combo on the last part of the video is still working (not patched), follow his instruction to press it when the shield goes back to the original positino.
I beat Queen Gna twice, in the same day, with my own build. That was a very proud moment😄

Is it because of the Blades Grips? You are spamming Whiplash and then L1 + Triangle?
I already beat Hrolf and Gna - I found Gna more annoying btw
yea it's not the same when ur playing GMGOW, whenever ur attacking him with the combos he isn't stunned by them and just attacks u while doing ur combo instantly killing u, i recommend using a different tactic, or if u are able to do it in GMGOW ur just godly

What difficulty is this on? Because I have the exact same build, all of the same buffs pop up on the side and I even have more strength but when I do the slam in realm shift is does a third of the damage yours does? Why?
