Great content! Looking forward to the rest. The "if it is not a yes . . ." rule is not only a great wardrobe rule, it also works in so many other life areas: decor, pets, vacation destinations, job offers. It is a great rule.😊
What a fun series you’re creating! Stephanie is very down to earth, easy to understand and personable. As I’m transitioning to gray I’m interested in her comments regarding hair color in your upcoming video.
Fantastic program! Some things I already knew however I did learn a lot of valuable information here. I have somewhat of an hour glass shape with larger hips. I look better with darker, Lee busy patterns on the bottom. Fitted styles look better on me as the looser clothing makes me look frumpy and dumpy as I'm only 5'1". True colors also look better on me as pastels and grays wash me out. I also lean towards bigger prints, stripes, and solids. Busy prints look terrible on me.
I don't know what I want my clothes to convey other than, thank goodness she's wearing some.😄Perhaps an area that needs further thought. Great tips - the heck yes is something I hadn't considered but it would sure help to clean out mu closet.
Love it! Great information and inspiration, Whitney. Thank you so much for sharing your style journey. I am excited to see more, and hopefully learn how to improve on my own wardrobe frustrations!
She talks about it more in the next video we do together, but according Stephanie your hair, tans and sunburns are overtones and your "colors" are based on your undertones. So short answer is no from her 😂.
Good information! Looking forward to future videos! I too am gray and now retired. Looking to change things but not really needing to please anyone but me! Yippee 🎉
Very interesting. A few years back, after a somewhat traumatic period, I decided to abandon my conservative solid colored wardrobe to loosely goosey comfy prints...I was all set for the perfect covid wardrobe. However, as of late, I want to upgrade and add refinement to my (as my 21 year old daughter calls it) my crazy old bag lady chic. Trying to figure out if there is a Catholic school Boho next chapter look for me
I have really enjoyed your chat..I love Mango and find Vickie sew patterns run close in style.. however give me a love notion pattern and Im good to go.. so many choices..( hence why I enjoy the conversation. Focus Dale Focus)
Great video, Whitney; I love watching all of your videos, but I don’t know what’s going on with the amount of commercials, but there seems to be an awful lot.
@@TomKatStitchery I didn't intend to have this comment directed at you Whitney. I am just trying to resist temptation and not buy new each season. And thought it was a good reminder in this chat.
Cool conversation! I'll add two discoveries. (Still haven't nailed down my process for building a well edited, satisfying wardrobe.) Discovery 1: It's a good idea to spend 90% of our time and clothing budget on the pieces that actually get worn 90% of the time (weather/tasks permitting.) Garments that work only in our "fantasy self" lives - Fortune 500 board rooms, galas at the Cannes Film Festival, lunch for 20 on our Tuscan terrace, or after we become superfit - shouldn't dominate our budget and closet space. Discovery 2: So-called timeless clothes don't always time-travel with us. Consider a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans plus baggy T-shirt that were fab on us at age 24. Scroll forward to age 54. Assume you still have them and they still fit. Look hard in the mirror: the impression the same outfit gives today is probably very different. What looked effortlessly chic on the 24-yo can look bedraggled on a 54-yo. Because our posture, hair, skin, weight distribution..the totality of our body has changed. Good coats, sweaters, shoes and accessories can work over a lifetime. Whether other garments work for us depends on effort and dumb luck.

It really is a great rule!
Enjoyed the conversation! It did however make me go transfer clothes and shoes from my closet to another one. What a difference! I’m on a new journey!
Yes! Those little things make a huge difference!

Stay tuned! Stephanie has a ton of good tips!
This was so helpful. Thank-you Whitney & Stephanie. I will be keen to follow this series for sure. 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Great content! I can't wait for more. I too am in a style rut, as my life has changed, and I don't know where to go with my style. 26:19
Sounds like you are in the right place for some exploration!
12 mins into this video , I went and sorted my wardrobe….. looking forward to the rest of it now. Xx
I'm so glad you are enjoying it and I'm sure that you will feel recharged in your wardrobe!

Isn't it amazing what we can learn about ourselves?

So true! And it can work with other questions too!
Love it! Great information and inspiration, Whitney. Thank you so much for sharing your style journey. I am excited to see more, and hopefully learn how to improve on my own wardrobe frustrations!

Question: does going gray change what my color choices should be?
She talks about it more in the next video we do together, but according Stephanie your hair, tans and sunburns are overtones and your "colors" are based on your undertones. So short answer is no from her 😂.
Keep up with the series. Very supportive. Answers so many of our struggles.
That's the plan! I'm glad you enjoyed.

Yes! Wear what makes YOU happy!
I so enjoyed this video today. This was so very helpful to me. Love what your doing on your TH-cam channel , keep it up just brilliant ❤️
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed!
Great content and video I love it, I look forward to more content 😊
Glad you enjoy it!
I had my colors done in my 30’s. I am now in 70’s. Will my colors be the same?
That's a great question! I'll add it to my list for the next chat with Stephanie
I thoroughly enjoyed this discussion!
I'm glad you enjoyed!

That's the fun thing about clothes, you can always change. You aren't stuck! And when you sew, you can create your vision!

You are so welcome!
great video😀
Thanks! 😀
I've had my colors done, Calm Summer. What shall I do, I am now drawn to the muted colors, normally I go for the bright vibrant colors.
Go with what makes you happy. If you love hot pink over baby pink, go with it!
Very fun!
Thank you!
Lots of super information. Will be hanging onto this video.
Wonderful!
Oh good!
Thank you Stephanie and Tom Kat Stitchery team. This was helpful and got me thinking.
You are so welcome!
Really good interview, Whitney. Well done!
Thank you!
Great video, Whitney; I love watching all of your videos, but I don’t know what’s going on with the amount of commercials, but there seems to be an awful lot.
Sorry--I'm not in control where TH-cam places them.
You can opt in to TH-cam premium, and you won’t experience commercials any more. It’s been 100% worth it for me.
How do I determine my colors (myself), ? Just by liking ?
A great question that we can ask Stephanie in the next video!
❤❤
Thank you!
My problem is that I love things and then I try it on and it looks awful on me :(
Stay tuned! We will be talking about that soon!
I appreciate this video in many ways. I don’t mean to be a downer but in terms of sustainability perhaps the shoes and bags you already have are fine.
You are right! I am more than set in the shoes and bags categories!

I agree with you on both of your discoveries---although a gala would be fun every now and then....
