Rick Parfitt the Legend of Status Quo! The best rhythm guitarist ever and boogie king! Thanks Rick for the great music! R.I.P. Rick - Rock on in heaven...
@@leenaylor8289 Was the drink actually with John. Frame was the coke fiend and occasionally Ricky although he liked his drink mostly. If you watch the documentaries, Nuff will always tell you that The cocaine issue with Frame is what broke up the band due to the superiority complex he thought he was better than everyone else.
That tempo shift is Quo personified. The whole place, and I mean the whole place, just went nuts. Haven't seen anything like it since the Milton Keynes gig in '84. It leave the current Quo for dead. Could never, has never, and will never compare to this.
Way to make 3000 people sound like 30 000. When I heard about his death, I found playing air guitar and head banging in tears in front of my record player to this masterwork.
I was asked to take my brother to see these guys back in the day, Whitley Bay ice rink. I agreed begrudgingly....that night was one of the best nights I’ve ever had!! God bless the Quo. Love to all.
For my 16th birthday I got a new fangled digital watch with stopwatch functionality. About a month later at the Edinburgh Odeon in May '79 I tested it out at my first ever rock concert to time 4500 times. I clocked it at 26+ minutes :) Even after all these yesrs it's still one of the best concerts I've been to - well it would be as I was leaning on the stage at Rossi's feet. Saw the FF again a couple of years later a the Glasgow Apollo, then minus John for the End of the Road tour in Dundee. Last time I saw them (without John or Alan) was supporting Queen at Wembley in '86. As many have said they are not the same band now and don't do it for me but they still bring pleasure to many, so "Who Am I?' to knock 'em.
I think you're the bloke that was standing like 6ft in front of me, I kept thinking 'keep on filming m8' saves me from botched attempts with my iPhone'. So...... a heartfelt thanks! Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
The REAL McCoy, comparing the FF and Quo lite is like comparing a pair of Levis to Primark jeans, a Ferrari to a fiat punto or strangely enough the great original Status Quo to a variety act you'd find on a Sunday afternoon down the legion.
Oh my word...the tempo change at 3.50 is incredible. Their feel for rhythm is 2nd to none. Coghlan is the most under rated drummer alive today...absolute genius. Please make this a regular thing guys. Thanks for posting...made my day!!
Great video, went to Wolverhampton, you just want 4500 times to go on forever, five minutes is nowhere near long enough, best Quo song ever. Thanks for the upload.
Awesome rhythm section, pure power and so tight still after all these years apart, lead guitar's not too bad either.......... This is Quo.... nothing else is ,,,,,,,,,,, as they say ''original and BEST'' !!!!!............... By a Rocking mile.......
I was 51 when this great night happened. I had been a fan since i was 11/12. Missed out on seeing the original line up In Germany when i was 16. Saw them in Berlin. In 88. Was not going to miss this. Had a couple of drinks before. Not ashamed too say i was, jumping up and down like a teenager, Even felt a bit emotional, seeing my idols, doing what they do best. That Drum change up by John in 45 hundred times, gets me every time. Bashing those drums like he really means it. What a night! A Privilege to be there, seeing Alan & John, where they belong. Even my Brother in law, enjoyed it! RIP Rick. Sorry about the mushy sentiments
First album I ever bought Quo live at the Apollo Glasgow 1977. So glad I actually got to them finally at Hammersmith. Been to loads of concerts but will remember this one forever.
Best Weekend of my life🙏we had so much fun with fans from all over the world👍both gigs were fantastic 👏I saw many Locations all over europe but Hammersmith is the BEST❗2021 "SAXON" in Hammersmith, we are coming . 👑 FF-best Band ever👑
Gotta say what a fantastic job you did - not only is your cam amazingly good the sound is actually great quality for a live recording! Well done and thanks for sharing. Great to see Quo with all their power and not sounding 'aged' like their recent stuff.
You can tell how much Rossi hates that the original members play far better music than the latest version of a classic band - he can't even be bothered to play a descent solo!!
Yes! Definetely ..it fit's more than all the others, even though he left the finer and more dynamic things out this time (compared to "Live 77"), and Matt Letley is a nice bloke and technically definetely the most talented drummer this band ever had..
Great video, thank you David, - Rick at his best, - lucky and appreciative to have seen the Frantic Four lineup a few times over the years, 1981 being my first.
Quo came many times to Perth Western Australia in the 70's. One time, the container with their guitars didn't arrive, so they had to borrow guitars from the locals. I never saw so many broken strings in my life. you would see the three of them getting into the Quo stance then one would pop up with a broken string in their hand. they would wave it about laughing. The crowd went nuts. they ringed the necks off those borrowed guitars!
1 week after their last FF show in the UK, Quo played in Sydney, Oz. Ricky was wearing the same leather jacket on stage .................... however it was 42 degrees celcius 😮. Even Frame said 'how do you live here' 😂
"there's nobody on the end of my line, I'm in time but somebody's missing...." I"ve come to the conclusion that Rick is my favorite out of Quo, "Where I Am", "Lonely Man", "Everything", he's got a really sensitive side thats quite unique. It's idiotic that Phonogram cancelled his solo LP - because Rossi's hadn't sold! But most of it is available through B-sides, check out "Hallow'een",totally overlooked, if it had been on"Hello" or "Quo" it would be regarded as a classic.
Francis should be thankful Rick's never got released because if it did it would of been massive, especially in the USA, it was the perfect sound the USA took onboard in the 80s.
Simply put. The best original line up ever other bands have changed a line up.and so many times it's never been the same. Ufo..deep purple. Ac dc to name a few. I don't know but it just seems to change somewhat.

Best song from Quo imho. If you don't stomp at least one foot to this you're probably dead. 😁👏
Just watch John Coghlan drumming, power, style and a total understanding of the music that's been missing since he left, just an extraordinary talent!
I have to agree. When he kicks in around the 3.50 mark it's fantastic
Agree but he would not give up the cocaine that's why he got kicked out of the band
@@leenaylor8289 FYI John was the only member of the band not on coke, it was his anti-coke stance that caused so much friction with Francis and Rick.

His grooving and shuffles playing was great, it was a pitty that he could't keep up the tempo anymore at 2013. In 2014 it was much better!
Rick surely could sing, incredible power and range.
The Mother of all Quo songs!!!!

always remember standing on the lower balcony in the Glasgow Apollo watching them perform RAIN..... what a night!!!!!
This sounds great, glad to see they've still got it.!!!!

Every great band has a great rhythm section and they have got one of them- Rainbow Theatre 1973 all over again.
how amazing they was before 'rockin' all over the world'!!!

Status Quo vor ever. This Guys are the best.I,ve always been a fan of this Band.I Like it.
Doing what they do !!! --thankyou guys --there isnt anything quite like the Quo machine at full throttle, long may it continue.
Cool stuff, reminds me on my first concert ever, Status Quo 1973 in Offenbach (Germany).
JC has deffo been the missing link in Quo for the last 30 years, puts the original 'power' back into the music.
Saw them from '79 'till he left, they were never the same without him and Alan........

Terrific audience footage. Might I ask what device it was shot on? I'm guessing a quality digital camera in movie mode 720p?
No just what I have uploaded.
