I know the 2019 has cream colored binding and the 2017 has white, he also has a cherry burst 2017 not the regular Cherry. I have a 2017 with 61 pick guard and the 59 classic plus pickups and it sounds fantastic. You can pay $300 more for the 2019 I like mine fine. The 2019 is also a great guitar.
On a ‘61 reissue the crown inlay on the headstock is installed a over the 5th and 2nd tuning keys. Yours is positioned like a SG Standard. Maybe I’m missing something?
to understand and compare about the crown ... well i think they did a great job in duplicating the Early SG"s ... watch this video ... th-cam.com/video/NDlcf2ot0zQ/w-d-xo.html
Do the ABR-1 bridge's insert screws go through the wood on the SG '61 RI like the original Gibsons or is the the bridge installed on metal inserts like a modern Nashville bridge?
the Bridge is always installed with the Metal inserts as i always had in any guitar that i owned .. now on the abr bridge's the adjusting screws where the bridge rides them ...the hole size are always different than the original ones. the original 66 abr bridge that i have on the 2017 T SG ... that one i had to drill the holes to fit the adjusting screws that i had ( the 66 SG that i owned was stolen and i changed the bridge and kept the parts) ... I think if you have any question .... contact www.tonepros.com/ ... this is where i purchased some of my parts ...the other site that i use is rs-guitarworks.myshopify.com/ .... this is where i got the oil bumble bee cap's and the pre wired SG kit for the 2017 .... it sound's great also ...BTW this 2019 61 SG issue has Special 61 pickups pat pending .... can't post pictures ... sorry need to PM me to send them to you .. good luck
the more i play it the more i enjoy it over the 2017 SG standard T. the nylon saddles were stock on a 66 SG standard with a ABR1 bridge, i know it reduces string breakage and maybe mellow the sound a little. that may be a question for the www.tonepros.com where i got them
I wouldn’t get them unless you have a maestro on it or a bigsby. If you’re bridge is filed correctly you shouldn’t be breaking strings unless you bend it crazy. Only so much a string can take. Those nylon saddles will darken your tone but if that’s what you want and you go for it. There’s a reason Gibson stopped using them.
@@pndamonium1241 the 61 is a SG neck and 2017 SG has a LesPaul neck .... it goes up the neck under the fretboard.... also the 61 comes with PAF pickups and a ABR bridge.... all you have to do is change it to nylon saddles! you'll love it .... www.tonepros.com will have it

Some say that the 2019 61 are the best ones to have in terms of the quality that followed on after.

i was real surprise when i looked at the tunamactic bridge ... turns out is a exact duplicate of a ABR-1
I still have it and it still kicks ass! that is the 61!

yes ... it's a gibson .... standard if you buy one ... i recomend the 61 RI mestro version!
the difference is one is a les paul neck and the other is a sg neck
