My first look at Lazarus and Free Pascal

- As a Delphi developer, I'm checking out Lazarus and Free Pascal! This video is a first look for me, diving into the free IDE (Lazarus) and the compiler (Free Pascal) that powers it. We'll see how to build a basic application and explore what cross-platform development feels like coming from a Delphi background.

Hey, sorry to get on the comment section just after a minute of your video.
The `metadarkstyle` is a Lazarus plugin that puts the entire IDE in dark style. It's also for Windows only since on Linux land, Lazarus will inherit the dark theme from the Desktop Manager.
The Editor theme is something that does not need a plugin as it comes with the default Lazarus features.

That's fine. I will look for that plugin. I have only been in this environment for a few short hours and these were my initial thoughts.

@@silvercoder70 I'm glad you got it working to your satisfaction. And yes, the Editing theming is separate from `metadarkstyle`.
If you have no quandaries with Discord, there are 3 servers that are dedicated to Delphi(2) and Free Pascal(1).
The community on all of them is rather the same, and we have quite the old geezers there, like you and me(I'm 54).
We even have peeps from `EMBT` and many `MVP`s on them.
The ambience is chill and we try really hard to keep the egos at bay. We have a lot of padawans and we try hard not to scare them away.
