When to Blame the Reed!

    Thanks for this, I am a beginner and my sound deteriorated. I looked at the reed and found a small split, sorted!

    Noticing your using the Bonade ligature! I just received the same in nickel and after I tightened it it wants to slip! Any fixes? Thanks!🙏

      That’s not terribly uncommon. Be sure not to over tighten it. Try loosening both screws evenly and then push it down to where it naturally stops and then just go like a half turn or so to tighten it up. It really only needs to be tight enough the reed doesn’t easily move.
      Another option is to put a mouthpiece patch on the back of your mouthpiece where the ligature goes and then it shouldn’t slip at all!
