I’m glad you took the reins this time and tried to fix the issue yourself, you’ll definitely need to know all this stuff so in case you ever need to do it yourself you’ll be able to. Something to practice with Penny is backing her out of the trailer, not only would it help take away her anticipation of going forward but it’ll also give her practice in case you ride in a trailer that she can only back out of.
Good job for telling Gabby that you want to handle Penny Laura. Its very important that you learn how to do these things and get Penny to respect you, it will help your bond with her so much :)
I’m glad you made Penny get back on the trailer and unload a second time because the first time unloading her she walked all over and she needs to be taught that, that isn’t acceptable! Happy to see you took penny off the trailer and not Gabby and Sophie, she’s yours and is your responsibility! x
It is crushing to someone who is learning to have so much negativity. Especially coming from your own family. Laura, you are doing well. Keep working away at building your confidence, you have spent your whole life living for your kids and now it is your turn. Get yourself a bumper pull, a little truck like you want, and pluck away at things you want to learn. Mistakes are guaranteed, you will succeed. Please remember when you set out to work with your horse, they have no idea what you have planned. You can fail, and they will never know. And girls... of I can address you. You should try a little harder to be a little kinder than you feel is needed. Your behavior towards your mom is not helping to build her up. If you want to be coaches, you have to learn how to give constructive criticism.
Laura i think your doing a good job with Penny. Im glad you walked her out of the trailer. I think the only mistake would be to not try to do the things you want to do with Penny. My dad always said you can do anything you set your mind to as long as your will to try. He said most important think is to believe in yourself and never let anyone tell you any different. You've got this stay strong and show everyone you can do anything.
Laura, I think u did an amazing job with Penny! U did the right thing by putting Penny back on the trailer and making her walk off slowly by urself. I rlly wish Gabby and Sophie would be more supportive, as u do so much for them, the least they could do is offer some encouragement. They should be proud to see their mom taking the reins herself and learning! Even though u and Penny were both a little nervous, u handled this so well and did incredible!💜
My only tip would be, back her off the trailer instead of going forward. My reason for this is that, you can have more control going backwards and then she can't push past you and rush off and potentially hurt her or anyone else in the process of her being worried and also her leader having lack or confidence, but Laura you managed very well and im thankful that you TOLD gaby that no I'm taking MY horse because when your in a situation like this you can't always have someone "save" you and knowing what she is capable of and also knowing how to deal with the situation is very important in the horse community, that would be my only tip/suggestion for you to work with next time
I expected gabbys reply to how you did but shocked by Sophie because she has had a lot of fear and was really timid when it came to loading and still looks to gabby for help. It's sad that they cannot come up with supportive and mound words. You did a good job of course there are things to work on but it was not horrible like gabby said and I'm sure Sophie would have panicked and called gabby in. Try some of the ideas others have told you and work on teaching your girls consideration and how to respond to questions or situation with helpful and constructive responses instead of bashing you.
Your lovely Penny is feeding off your anxiety and nervousness. I could feel it just watching. You have to find whatever works for you; deep breathing exercises, a tea for relaxation, yoga stretches, nature sounds, pressure points on your body, herbal supplement, Bach flower essences, meditation, music; there are dozens of things you can try. Bottom line, Penny does have the connection with you but your uncertainty loops right around to her and horses are flight animals. so....find your zen place, stay firm and body loose and reassuring and mind in the present The final time you came down the ramp Penny was taking little baby steps that seemed more for you than her and that's pretty special. It's only my opinion but that mare reads you like a book when she is focused
Look at you go Laura! Great job! You stuck it out and it paid off! You and Penny will be pros in no time! I like how you were stopping her, and not just walking her right off. Just remember, everyone has to learn, noone is born an expert, you have come so far and you're willing to learn and grow, that's what matters! I prefer slant myself, I too walk my horses off of them, instead of backing. It's interesting how different trailers are from one region to another! 💞
Laura, if you tie the rope halter above the loop and Penny pulls back the halter will tighten and it will be impossible to untie it and you will have to cut it. Tying between the loop and knot is very important!
Yes Laura!!! You drive that truck and be able to trailer your own horse! It is so inspiring to finally see you take that step towards independence to do what you want with Penny without having to wait on Sam or Gabby. I think you taking that step and learning to do so will be a major game changer for you!
Laura, I love how you took matters into your own hands today! its true mistakes happened and thats ok but you demanded to learn it yourself and should be so proud! Penny feels scared upon arrival when she is not sure where she is.I think your plan to take her places, take her off, let her look around in hand and then back on the trailler and home would be good safe practice. Anyway, you can do way more then you think you can. Love
I also believe taking another horse withyou and the experience will not be so scary. Than go in your own. Also from my hauling experience when you are shipping one horse it always go to the inside meaning the road side not the outside meaning the ditch side.
@@margaretporkolab7166 Yes thats a great idea! Penny, Willow and Gracie on a hand walk somewhere else. See how Penny responds to that! Also taking Penny off backwards
I don't think you did horrible in any part of that. Everything was a learning experience and in life that does not make one horrible at doing something for the first time and maybe not succeeding in the way you had the expectation to succeed. but you did in fact succeed in the aspect of learning and wasn't that the point of the exercise? Nobody gets it right the first time. And if they do its purely by luck. I give you a MILLION percent credit on doing hard things and scary things. Don't loose faith or hope Laura...you got this! Penny will get there and You will too. Mark my words it will be sooner than you expect ;) I would NOT count those fall trail rides out just yet
You should switch it up and back her off, put her in the other bay of the trailer, walk her in from the front ramp and out the back and make it so she cannot anticipate what you are going to ask her.
I hope you feel proud Laura, because I’m proud of you 👍 you stuck to your guns and made her listen to you. I’m so glad you didn’t let Gabby take over as it’s needs to be you that puts her on and off!! I’m sorry girls but I’ve seen Storm and Finn drag you off the trailer. You need to be more supportive.
LAURA YOU ARE DOING SO AMAZING AND ARE TAKING SO MANY COURAGEOUS STEPS. I don't care what your family says, you need to keep going. Keep doing what you want to. You are right you need to learn these things don't let anyone hold you back.
I'm kinda thinking like everyone else with back her off & getting her use to that first, that way she can't bolt out on you going forward til you both get the hang of trailing her better & learning how to drive the truck frontwards, backwards & turning corners without Penny in it will build your confidence when you do have her in it. Give her time to settle down a few minutes before you take her out. Talk to her in a calm voice & remind her to "WALK" "WALK" WALK" several times as you take her out if you don't want to back her out & it will calm you down too. Don't forget to Breathe too!! A treat is good once she is calm to bring her out & another after she "WALKS" out. Your doing GREAT, Laura!! And so is Penny...Horses do good at what they know best>>>
Laura, I think you are already establishing the "rules" for the trailer with Penny. Don't give up on taking Penny for trail rides this fall. Take her on & off the trailer every day & in no time you will have this. Penny learns quickly & she already has a bond with you. You just need to build on what you have already done. At the same time you can start learning how to drive Sam's truck. No trailer, just the truck. Driving & riding are very similar skills. You have come so far in your riding. Now do the same thing with your driving. The trails await you!
Well done Laura, that was a difficult thing to work through and I'm glad you did it yourself. I really think you need to be working with penny all the time on your own, while its nice that the girls want to be hands on, Penny needs to learn your boundaries and what you expect from her and the little things like leading her to and from the field etc make all the difference. In the last few videos Sophie has made comments that penny is her horse and she seems to be doing more and more for her, be firm with her like you where with gabby in this video, Penny is your horse, she will always be yours and you need to work with her, please don't let her take over, your more than capable of doing it yourself. Love and hugs
From my experience horses tend to hate ramps and prefer slants. I have a straight load with a ramp. Took me a few months to get my mare used to it but other people’s horses refuse to get in if they aren’t used to ramps and straight loads. Also the only way I got my mare to load (I’m always alone) is to stand beside the ramp and send her in with an open hand and a light tap with a dressage whip rewarding each small try.
I’m very happy that you took Penny off the trailer and not gabby or Sophie, it will help you and penny bond. Pennys your horse so it makes sense for you to do it! You’re an amazing horse owner ❤️
Hi Laura, I thought you did really well. If Penny can sense that you are nervous then it transfers to her. I am so glad that you re-loaded her a couple of times. She will get this, just like before when you couldn't get her on the trailer, she has now mastered that so you just need to be patient and do this over and over again until she masters this. It needs to be you that does it, she is your horse and she needs you to give her confidence thats its ok. I dont normally comment much but I had to tell you how well you did. Much love. Jill, Birmingham, U.K. XXXXXX
I float/trailer my horses in rope halters all the time, it is completely safe, I just use bailing twine and quick release knots or don’t tie them up at all. No need for 2 halters
I prefer slant load (I have a 2 horse with the living area up front) and there's no way I'd turn them around and walk out forwards. Straight load is better for hoses that don't load well, it's easier to get them in and safer for the handler. We don't see a lot of the front unload ramp like you guys have, in Australia. You're doing a great job with the loading, before long it will be spot on!
Laura you did pretty decent, one thing is you gotta maybe jerk the rope down (it won’t hurt her) so she understands that it’s not ok. Also what if you got a trainer come out a couple times a month and Laura you could work along side with her and learn how to properly ground work train Penny? Maybe just an idea, I did it years ago with a mare who struggled with ground manners. Lastly, I think you should’ve took her back in the trailer at the house bc that’s where she messed up.
Jerking the rope down teaches a horse to brace with downward pressure on a lead rope. It leads to horses freaking out when their lead ropes get caught. I 100% don't recommend this as I have spent a year trying to fix this from a past owner.
@@kimberlysmith7084 well Laura wouldn’t tap the horse in the but t with a rope so I’m trying to say another idea. I’m not saying pull in to the ground I’m just saying give in a little jerk it should cause no issues.
@@lize8106 From someone who has had a horse that people used "the little jerk" with.... I can confidently say with experience that it caused a full waterfall of issues. When you jerk down on the lead rope, what does your horse do? If they throw up their head and step back, then you are teaching your horse to pull against pressure. You are releasing the jerk when they respond by bracing. So my horse is walking and accidentally steps on her lead rope, she will throw up her head and over react due to this correction that a past owner used. What if she spooks tied, same problem. Trailering, same freak out potential. She has learned that when she feels a sudden jerk down on the lead rope to brace against it. When that doesn't release the pressure, she fights more as she was taught that was the release. Versus, giving to pressure which is the "right" response to reduce injuries in these situations. I have spent years teaching her release to pressure but haven't been able to fix the sudden jerk issue mainly because doing it also causes her to shut down so doing it till I get a release to pressure versus brace causes her to freeze and shut down. The issue is currently unfixable. Therefore, someone's "lazy fix" to a problem caused a lifetime problem for this horse. Soooo no. I can confidently say this is a horrible suggestion,
Good for you Laura for insisting on doing it yourself👍FYI bumper pulls are not tacky Gabby Lol, lots of people here in the city use them.because tbey have an SUV not a huge monster truck lol 😊also what about backing Penny off rather than using the escape door up front?
Laura, you did great! Practice gives way to experience and you are getting there! Do not give up your initial goals! It's okay if you don't reach them this season. You are braver than you know. I was so proud to watch you try driving the truck with the trailer. Maybe try that again without Penny as it's safer and also less for you to think about when you want to just focus on the mechanics of handling the truck/trailer. Seeing you unload Penny yourself brought tears to my eyes. So proud that you didn't give up and hand things over. Remember practice builds experience. Experience helps us to know what to do and not do. I think today's video was a huge WIN for you both! Get it sister!❤🙏❤
First of all I would like to wish you, your family and your followers Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING and a good weekend. Laura you have done a wonderful job through this whole venture except for a few kinks. But don't worry learning from the today's kinks will gain you more confidence and knowledge. Sam was really supportive. The children have give you more respect when it comes to your learning. I am so glad that you set them straight. This is your horse and they should respect it. Again great job. And dont forget to breath pick your shoulders up and go for it. The straighter you stand the taller you are and confident you have.
Laura you handled that so well! Repetition is so important and the R+ will really help. Penny needs to build confidence and you're doing an amazing job supporting her through it.
I see lots of comments suggesting to back Penny off of the trailer instead of walking straight off. If you aren't sure how to approach that, here's how I trained my friend's horse (who was terrified to back off of our straight load because he wasn't comfortable with stepping down without being able to see behind him). We started just by backing over things--a pole, some branches, anything he had to step over in order to back over it. Each time he had to step over the object, I said the verbal cue, "Step." Once he started picking up on the fact that step meant he had to pick his feet up and over something, we graduated to backing down hills. We started with a fairly small hill and worked our way up to a pretty steep little drop-off (with good footing!). I continued using that verbal command, "Step," to warn him he was going to have to reach a little more with his hind legs. Then we moved into the barn. Now, when my barn was built, the contractor poured about 4 inches of concrete as a foundation. I also have a sliding door on the front of my barn. So we started with that sliding door wide open, and I asked my friend's horse to back out of the barn (leaving the sliding door wide open so he had lots of space to move around and look behind him at first). This mimicked backing out of the trailer, because he had to physically step down and out of the barn (although the step was smaller than the step out of the trailer). I also used the verbal cue, "Step," here as well, to warn him. As he progressed I started sliding the barn door shut little by little. Pretty soon, I had him backing straight out of the barn with the door open just wide enough for him to fit through (with a few inches to spare). When he was finally a-okay with all of this preparation, I felt confident enough to load him back on the trailer and then ask him to back out (still using that verbal cue, "Step," to warn him that his hind feet needed to step out of the trailer). He's so much more relaxed now with all that prep work, and I don't have to worry about him refusing to get out of the trailer (because we don't have the option to turn around and walk off our trailer like you do with yours). If you're going to try this with Penny, be sure to leave that front ramp and the top doors totally shut so she doesn't get the idea of trying to trample over the top of you to escape the trailer the "easy way" or (heaven forbid) try to fit through the top windows if she panics. Only open those back doors--don't give her any other option to get off the trailer besides backing. If she's worried don't worry about rushing her, let her take her time to figure it out. I'd also encourage you to try some of the tricks I mentioned before you even think about trying to back Penny out of the trailer. If you can train her to do it, I agree with the other commenters--it'll be a lot safer (and less stressful) for you and her if you back her off the trailer. Hope this helps--and I just have to commend you for trying so hard when you first unloaded her to keep her attention on you and prevent her from rushing off. You did a great job, she was just incredibly stressed and her fight-or-flight instinct kicked in, and she stopped listening to you in the moment. Now you've just got to help her work through her stress and look to you for leadership and guidance instead of reacting. She's already come a LONG ways with the trailer. I know how stressful the equation of trailers + horses can be, and you're doing a great job with her. Keep up the good work, Laura!
Laura, I am SO PROUD of you! Good for you for having the guts to try things on your own, and for not giving up on Penny or yourself when things don’t go right the first time. As you can tell from our videos, I am not as brave as you, but I will get there. I think you did a fantastic job! Nobody gets things perfect the first time, but look how great you guys were doing near the end. That is going to be our plan for Duke and Stevie as well, to just practice over and over throughout the Fall and Winter to get them used to getting on and off the trailer without working themselves into such a state of stress. Penny, Duke and Stevie are quite the trio… maybe we will see you out on the trails hand walking all our horses🤣. I have confidence in them though and know all three will get there eventually.❤️ Loved the video! I would chalk this up as a win for you😁. Great job!
Well done Laura! You took charge of the situation, and you want to learn new things to be a better horse owner. Penny will indeed feed off your nervous energy, stay strong, and in control. Great job, enjoy the journey! I have a slant load trailer, you could buy one from the states. Goods are still crossing the boarder even though it's still closed.
Laura, you did very well, you were calm, determined and ended on a positive note and I’m so proud of you for doing it yourself 👏👏👏Penny is clearly nervous in the trailer, hence why she wants to get off as quick as possible, however I’m sure you’ll conquer that 👍🏻 just before you go to walk her out, give a little pull on the halter, just as a reminder and I don’t think she’s ever going to bolt off, she stops once out. You could also use a lunge line to unload her so that you’ve got more length of rope, just in case you need it 😊 I know some people are suggesting backing out and that probably is something to practice at some stage, but to rehearse for that one I’d make sure you she’s clear on the back up command in hand, as some horses find that scary and will rush out backwards. I think it’s great for you to learn to drive the truck, then truck and trailer without a horse and then with a horse (that’s what I did) 😊 In 🇬🇧 we have some great small horse boxes, just like driving a small van/lorry, nothing to hitch up, so perhaps you’d be able to find something that would take a couple of horses, plus a few people or that you’d be confident enough to drive on your own 😊 I wonder if you could maybe just trailer her to Fionna’s or Kailey’s, somewhere not far and safe for you to go and you could just walk her around or let her graze and then load her back up (just a thought). Personally, I’d try and crack on with riding her, which will help with your confidence and Penny’s fitness so that she’s able to go on a short trail ride 😊 well done Laura 👏👏👏
@@lize8106 yes, that’s true, Laura is pretty nervous about everything she does tbh, and I don’t doubt that she was nervous, although I think she did a pretty good job on this occasion of masking it, I just thought it was a big improvement, based on what would normally happen 😊
Here is my tip: 1) use a chain. Even though you want a positive experience you need safety and her about to jump off could be dangerous for both parties so use it as a reminder 2) feed her dinner on the trailer. Let her know that every time the door opens doesn’t we don’t jump out. 3) I would bring a friend such as Gracie or Stella and have penny follow the leader loading and unloading so she can see the proper way and It’s not scary. Plus she is not having to guess what is the right way she she can just do it.
@@alinareybey3263 I never said she wasn’t doing a good job. Chain are not for studs but, in that situation penny continue to drag Laura off the trailer. It looked like she was about to jump (which can be dangerous or even fatal) while a rope halter can control the horse it clearly did nothing for Penny in this moment. A chain used a couple times plus having food and another horse will be a better experience. I’m not saying a chain is forever but having control and respectful is important for both parties. Keep mind the goal is not have penny rush off the trailer. With food and another horse to keep her patient and calm the chain is a backup. Try it once with a chain/food/ horse and if it goes well take chain away. But having the horse running you over off trailer is not okay.
@@alinareybey3263 yes I agree with you rope halters can be great for teaching ground manners . That ground work is great and is essential. Laura could really work with it. However, in trailer there is not a lot of room to back up and make the horse turn. As you said you are moving the the horse and disengage hind end, I would assume it’s to respect your boundaries. But in this case Penny becomes panic and wants to run over Laura. She no longer cares if there is a human she wants out of the scary contraption. A horse could have perfect ground manners but if it gets spooked it will try and run you over, it’s a flight animal. But having a chain is going to remind them respect your boundaries even if you are panic. I am full aware that horses can still panic and lose their mind with a chain but it’s less likely. But the key is to make the trailer less scary so she isn’t panicking.
@@alinareybey3263 exactly!! The horse does not have proper ground manners. It hasn’t been properly work in trailer. So again I ask you how to get to that point of making the horse ok in the trailer?? You have to work up it, like I keep suggesting. With food and another horse but the chain is a simple reminder until it’s not needed. Hell they use a chain on Storm every time he goes to a show.
I’m not saying the chain is permanent but right now it’s too dangerous. She needs to add food and another horse and Chain so she doesn’t get trampled. She also should work on ground manners.
Good on you Laura for taking the reins and when your standing slowly making your way to the ramp with penny face where your going not her because then if she bolts off then you have more control you could even practice stoping on the ramp Also not a big fan of the girls paying you out, especially Sophie when you said I’ve got it, and she goes are you sure about that and then them both saying you did terrible with penny when you did awesome for your first trip together.
I think you did great, Laura!! Yeah she was scared with the trailer moving down the road & got her worked up, but as you work with her it will get easier you & her. Horses do good at what the know best. It is a learning experience for both of you & I was happy to hear & see you take control of Penny. If someone else does it for you, you will never get past it. Great Job!! I actually got upset because of Gabby's attitude toward you, she needs to remember this is your first horse & should be more willing to support you. Don't get me wrong, I have watched the girls for years with their horses & training. They have come a long way, but they are still kids & Gabby has a natural gift with horses. You have to work harder at getting what you want & in safer way. I am 65 & have waited 50yrs to have my 1st horse since I was a teen & I am going to do it the safe way for me, not the way other think I should do it. As long as I get good results in a few weeks that is all that matters to me & it helps me bond closer with my girl. Building confidence in you & her at the same time is really important to build TRUST between both of you. Anything new you teach Penny will make her nerves until you show her she has nothing to worry about. Keep up the good work, your doing great!!
I just want to let you know you don’t have to use a regular halter and a rope halter. You can just use the rope halter. And if it becomes even more maybe look into buying a 4 knot rope halter
Laura you did really well ! I bet you where really nervous and that Penny could feel and it made her nervous . You will get more and more confident doing it . There will be a time where you laugh about it ! Keep going at it and it will get better .
Laura when i first started watching yur channel it wasn't even about horses. Gabby was the only one doing lessons, Sophia not so much but Sam was the one who took her mostly. lol You didn't care for horses much or maybe it was cause you were scared. Now look at you! You haven't given up and all of you continue to grow! The whole family has come a long ways and i am very proud of all of you! Even i have learned a thing or two about Horse's through ya'll, ok maybe not the breeding part but other things. I have really enjoyed watching ya'll grow! Thank you for sharing everything you do with us! 👍👍💞💞💖💖💞💞👍👍
Penny did well. At least she stood still once she was off the trailer. We keep the top shutters on the back of the trailer open so the horse does not feel claustrophobic. This may help to keep her calm x
When penny puts her head down to eat grass instead of pulling her head up you could try swinging the rope towards her bottom like you are asking for a hind quater turn i do this with my gelding that is completely food driven and it works a bit more effectively and quicker and it also lets her no that eating in the middle of being led isnt okay and it could help her respect you more
I think Trailer loading is something you always need to get better and review for all horses at some point. As far as what kind of trailer is better I don't really think there is a holy grail of trailers, what you have is what you have to work with. I have had a few horses with trailer loading issues over the years and it's just something you have to chip away at. Can I point out that having a longer lead rope at least 12ft long will help you get out of space when she is dragging you around on the ground. Teach her to back up as much as you teach her to go forward. You should have control of each step independently. Do lots of putting on the trailer and just hanging out, feed her in the trailer. Always untie before you open up any part of the trailer have seen horse jump chest bars and try and climb over the tailgate to get out. When you put the rump bar across. I always back the horse a step back so they feel that bar behind them. If you wait till you are moving and they step back and feel it they can panic and jump that chest bar. I always like them to just stand for a good 10 minutes before you take them off, otherwise you set up an expectation they come off as soon as you stop the car.🐎 A link to a video of me with my Arabian mare with some creative trailer loading. th-cam.com/video/H2aE0lmymb0/w-d-xo.html
horses can feel when you nervous and scared so that’s can make the horse nervous to but you good great just take your time and don’t let her control you you the boss i’m proud of you you getting out your confidence keep up good work take it day by day and you will get there
You're lucky to have a friend to walk you through issues you're having with your horse I need someone like that lol just got a rescue horse and have found our first issue I cant seem to think how to do it we're stuck if you want to share your friend I wouldn't mind lol 😹 you did great laura its good to see you working with penny and not letting gabby do it I wish they were more supportive tho because you did not do horrible 😸
What I would do is either back her off the trailer or is a chain taking her off till she learns she can’t push past you:) I love you guys so much and am so happy for you Laura for telling the girls that you were going to do it yourself!!:))
It's good to know that Gabby is taking us to the show lol. But I think Laura just needs to be quicker and more confidant. I don't think Penny understands to wait, I think she's thinking that Laura is letting her go when she backs her up for a running start. If you wanted to get her back into the trailer, you should have had your hand ready to grab the bar (sometimes chain) to PUSH her back into placement. It's tough because you don't want to stand in front of her, but you can't stand beside her. She's less likely to run if you are closer because she knows if she tries running with you in the way she could fall down and hurt herself and you. I don't think she needs a treat until after she respectfully gets off the trailer. That's my opinion anyways lol...happy thanksgiving! Thankful for your channel and light
Start with just driving the truck, the truck with the empty trailer and then the truck with the trailer with a horse in it. It’s not safe to go from never driving the truck, to driving it with a horse
I would also suggest changing things up so not always putting her in on the same side and also having finn of chino in with her some times unloading Penny first other times unloading the other horse pony first
I think you friend just wanted you to use the rope halter thats how I trailer my horses. And try to back her off because if you get a bumper pull your gona have to back her off you might want to look in to a stock trailer because you can turn them around in a stock trailer ill send a pic of my stock trailer your doing awesome and when your driving you have to go alitte slower and easily apply the brakes so you don't throw the horse f front ward and give alote of room when turning in a road have sam take you out with the trailer empty so you can get the feel of it and the with thats what I did but your doing awesome 😉 😎
At least you tried, with practice you will get better and she will get better. Just keep practicing and gabby has to let you control your horse because like you said she won’t always be there❤️ but practice makes perfect. I feel like your making a good decision you will get to ride with your friends one day but right now she has to learn first,
I hope everyone has had a fantastic day and is safe I love your vlogs they so good to see you are beautiful and fantastic people who are amazing and awesome you really inspire me to be the best and keep trying and not to give up easy I really thank you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕.
Happy to see you took penny off the trailer and not Gabby and Sophie, she’s yours and is your responsibility! x
i agree and they were both extremely rude about it
Seriously why can’t your kids be nice and supportive?
For sure it would be a great step in the right direction.
Absolutely right!
the girls were being very rude the whole video , you and penny are both learning, they are learning too , i found that so rude
Good job Laura. Stand your ground. Fear and respect ARE two different things. Get respect and you will help Penny through her fear.
I think you should try backing her out and when she's confident with that then try leading her out so she gets bolting through you out of her mind set
So proud of you Laura! You took your mate back!!! Good job for not giving up. I can tell penny was happy you helped her through it.😊
Laura, I love how you took matters into your own hands today! its true mistakes happened and thats ok but you demanded to learn it yourself and should be so proud!
👍
Laura, maybe try backing Penny off the trailer instead of walking her off. Getting a horse to backup is great for creating respect.
Laura one time doesn't mean you can't learn how to drive this truck and trailer you just need confidence.
Glad you did it Laura. The kids need to step back and let you and penny learn together. She is yours!!
WELL DONE. REPETITION IS HOW THEY LEARN SO DOING SOMETHING SEVERAL TIMES IS A MUST. Susan
Sam is also brave, and he's got good judgement you did fine.
You did really well Laura. You just needed to calm Penny down, before walking her off the trailer. Well done for doing it yourself x
👍
Thank god luara finally said no shes my horse im doing it. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Congratulations Laura for taking control.i wish the girls would give you as much support as you give to them every day.they was just being rude
Laura I am proud of you for wanting trying new things and telling them you want to do things for yourself and not them doing everything for you
Laura, you did very well, you were calm, determined and ended on a positive note and I’m so proud of you for doing it yourself 👏👏👏Penny is clearly nervous in the trailer, hence why she wants to get off as quick as possible, however I’m sure you’ll conquer that 👍🏻 just before you go to walk her out, give a little pull on the halter, just as a reminder and I don’t think she’s ever going to bolt off, she stops once out.
I agree totally
Agree with lots you said except Laura was terrified, she said in the video even. Her nerves make the horse more nervous.
@@lize8106 yes, that’s true, Laura is pretty nervous about everything she does tbh, and I don’t doubt that she was nervous, although I think she did a pretty good job on this occasion of masking it, I just thought it was a big improvement, based on what would normally happen 😊
I love your guys trailer!!
WELL DONE LAURA YOU DID IT
Well done Laura! My first time loading and unloading my horse wasn't pretty either, but we all start somewhere! Keep at it! ❤
Good on you Laura for taking the reins and when your standing slowly making your way to the ramp with penny face where your going not her because then if she bolts off then you have more control you could even practice stoping on the ramp
Also not a big fan of the girls paying you out, especially Sophie when you said I’ve got it, and she goes are you sure about that and then them both saying you did terrible with penny when you did awesome for your first trip together.
👍
Gabby's growing up you got the right idea she be living at home forever so yes practice, practice, learn you go girl.
Sam is so funny, lol... Gabby should drive haha! That is awesome that you did it Laura!
BACK HER OUT OF THE TRAILER SEVERAL TIMES. THEN SHE WON'T KNOW IF SHE IS BACKING OUT OR WALKING FORWARD.
I love candy corn! It is absolutely delicious!!!
Laura you are doing a good job with your horse
Laura I think you did brilliant , and I think Penny did too, :)
Beautifully said. Sorry I came down hard about the breeding.
Ooo also if you carve the pumpkins after you’re done with them you can give them to your chickens! They loveeee them
Laura don't get discouraged i believe you will be able to ride places with her sooner than you think
I think you did great. Except don’t ever learn to ,drive with a horse on board. Omg that scared even me watching
Penny did well. At least she stood still once she was off the trailer. We keep the top shutters on the back of the trailer open so the horse does not feel claustrophobic. This may help to keep her calm x
Congratulations!
Great Job!!! Way to step up Laura!
You should put hot sauce on your pumpkins it keeps the squirrels or other animals away.
Laura your doing a good job training penny to get used to the trailer.
I think You Did Great Laura! We Never Fail..We Just Learn A New And Better Way ;) Keep On Doing It! You ARE A MASTER :) x0x0x0x0x0x
Good job laura, just remember to take it slow! it takes time! and good job at telling gabby that its your horse, its the only way to learn!😀
You did really good with penny today Laura ❤️
I always like them to just stand for a good 10 minutes before you take them off, otherwise you set up an expectation they come off as soon as you stop the car.🐎

Hi Daybyday how are you guys happy thanksgiving to you guys and i really loved your video it was really good .

you and penny are doing amazing !!! well done !!
i found it really nice when gabby help u
Laura, great job!! Maybe Penny has never unloaded from the front. You have come a long way Laura.

Early considering I was just outside
Well done Laura 🙌❤️
You're lucky to have a friend to walk you through issues you're having with your horse I need someone like that lol just got a rescue horse and have found our first issue I cant seem to think how to do it we're stuck if you want to share your friend I wouldn't mind lol 😹 you did great laura its good to see you working with penny and not letting gabby do it I wish they were more supportive tho because you did not do horrible 😸
Great job Laura!!!
Love you
What I would do is either back her off the trailer or is a chain taking her off till she learns she can’t push past you:) I love you guys so much and am so happy for you Laura for telling the girls that you were going to do it yourself!!:))
I would also suggest changing things up so not always putting her in on the same side and also having finn of chino in with her some times unloading Penny first other times unloading the other horse pony first
Loveee candy corn!!
I think you friend just wanted you to use the rope halter thats how I trailer my horses. And try to back her off because if you get a bumper pull your gona have to back her off you might want to look in to a stock trailer because you can turn them around in a stock trailer ill send a pic of my stock trailer your doing awesome and when your driving you have to go alitte slower and easily apply the brakes so you don't throw the horse f front ward and give alote of room when turning in a road have sam take you out with the trailer empty so you can get the feel of it and the with thats what I did but your doing awesome 😉 😎
glad you conquered that yourself!!
Hey guys! It was my 18th birthday yesterday 😁♥️ also never tried candy corn although I’d love tooo, might order some!! Is it good?
Happy Belated Birthday!! 🎈🎈🎂🎈🎈
🎶HAPPY BRITHDAY 🎶🥳🍰🍦🎉
At least you tried, with practice you will get better and she will get better. Just keep practicing and gabby has to let you control your horse because like you said she won’t always be there❤️ but practice makes perfect. I feel like your making a good decision you will get to ride with your friends one day but right now she has to learn first,
It may not be pretty or perfect but you didn’t Laura, it’s a start and you and penny are growing together xx

I'm 25 and I taught myself how to drive my truck and trailer with horses in it just wait till you try backing it with a trailer
It can be easily if you know the tricks.
