Wayne for president 2024! Around 3:58 love the funkness setting up Anthonys bass solo. Mindblowing groove :-) You can hear Wayn plays like a piano player too damn awesome 1 Thank You!
Been a fan of Anthony Jackson for decades, but just heard about Wayne from Mark Lettieri on Papastache's channel. Wayne's phrasing often reminds me quite a bit of one of my all time favorite guitarists, John Scofield. Until he goes experimental, then it's hard to say who it reminds me of, if anyone. Great drummer here too.
Wayne is a one-off guitarist and I find his playing constantly surprising. He sounded like a keyboard at one point. Not forgetting of course the world class rhythm section. Is there a finer one ?.
It's going to be cool to see what he brings next month when he plays here again...see www.eventbrite.com/e/wayne-krantz-and-2xsalvation-live-at-the-miraverse-tickets-26626852633 for details.
Any audio engineer or bassist that could name the preamp and amplifier Anthony Jackson is using in this video? The speaker cabinets are massive! I am guessing "super hi-fi PA 15" speakers?". Only a few bass players can accomplish this pure tone in a live situation. I like Steve Swallow's simplicity in having his Harvey Citron (hollow body) bass to a Walter Woods amp. Now, AJ gets his "piano" pure tone (of course, his playing and the Fodera AJ Presentation) sound mysteriously. I was never able to find a direct (consistent) answer to what does he use. Anyway, Thank you for posting the video. Just awesome!
The speakers are MeyerSound CQ-2 self powered full range. His usual preamp is a Millenia Media plus API 550 series eqs. The upper unit looks like an API 2 channel eq. Not sure about the lower aluminum unit. Either way, the sound is spectacular.
As mentioned it was a Sonic Lens and an API 5500 two-channel 1U rack unit; his bass had an XLR out, which went into a chorus pedal and came out 1/4-inch, into a Radial J48 (I've always wondered why that was necessary...), into the Sonic Lens, into the 5500; at some point in the chain it was split into two channels; one went direct to the console and the other went into the Meyers, one of which was miked with a Gefell M930, as you can see. I assisted on this session. Anthony traveled with his own special low piano stool, which had its own road case. Somewhere I have photos...
Homeboy in the black beanie is definitely a drummer I think he managed to peal his eyes away from Keith a grand total of 3 times throughout this video hahah
Love Wayne, Carlock is incredible on drums and Anthony Jackson is a legend R.I.P. ! Wayne Krantz is a next level player but I wish he used that "Ring Modulator" pedal a lot less... felt the same way when Pat Metheny went into his "Ornette Coleman" phase and he would use this "Synthesizer Horn" sound that was like cool for for about 16 bars.. Pat would play that horn patch for twenty to 30 minutes ! Got old real fast...
It is a Fodera Anthony Jackson bass. Hollow body with a huge cutaway for your left hand. I was at this concert. The amount of bass in the room was amazing. AJ is the man, a true original.
Not that these guys aren't great, but I was about to turn this off when the ring modulator started. I mean to say I kept listening because of it. Is this the most ring modulator anyone's ever heard? I can only think of a couple places I've heard it on guitar.
Krantz is interesting. I have a few of his albums and at times he creates something uniquely emotive and impactful. Other times, it just sounds like he practicing his instrument. In this case, for me, it is an example of the latter. Technically good, but what was the point or purpose?
Me and my buddies where doing exactly the same thing over 40 years ago. Not nearly so well, but really the same thing. Some of our recordings sound like we are copying Wayne. Except they were recorded 43 years ago... Pretty funny.
Would LOVE to see/hear that! Can you post any of it? I don't remember anyone sounding/playing like this in 1976. There was Allan Holdsworth of course...
I been watchin' this for 8 years. Still got boosegumps.
Krantz, Carlock and Jackson just travelled the musical multiverse, and made it back. What a trip!
i been watchin' this for 7 years and it still gives me goosebumps.
I was hoping I could find the posts from the past years too :(
How is this the first time I’m seeing this???? Absolutely filthy sick
This Trio is Superb. They really present some thing New for the Fusion scenes.
As a Composer Wayne Krantz did the Excelent Work.
Keith Carlock is straight crazy ! In the top five of the best drummers in the world !
He is
Really great, feels like this happened yesterday. Fresh, lots of eye contact, huge musicians... Love it
Came here for Wayne and Keith. Stayed for AJ, those are some bass chops right there
My favorite, my Bass GOAT, Anthony Jackson 👌🏿♥️
That's the best sounding Fodera I've ever heard him play. Scrumptious tone!
Thanks! I was wondering who the bass man was.
Love, Love, Love! Heavenly Channeled Muse from a Master Trio! Timelessly Refreshing and Exhilarating!
What a drummer. And what a cool place to play!!
I was there and if you can check it out. Miraverse is among the best sounding rooms I have heard.
Unbelievable!!!!
AJ is a beast.
the communication is insane.

Anthony Jackson is a beast at bass.
That bass is a beast on AJ.
That drummer is the best - thank you :)
Incredible performance, incredible sound!!!
looks like a meditation center!! where all jazz should be played - Wayne King Krantz
sublime
Great stuff
I get why Anthony's bass is so pricy, now. It sounds like a freaking piano!
It's those hands, though

Who would dislike this?
James Earl Jones just absolutely ruling it on the bass over there.
HAHAHAHAHAHA

What's the timing?
I've asked a ton of different TH-cam channels...does anyone know the health status of Anthony Jackson???
fiiiiiiiire!!!!!! give the people some damn water
MONSTROUS. Thanks for posting!!!
Too bad the camera person (or video editor) didn't keep the camera on the cat soloing at the time.
AJ is amazing - Wayne too...
Very romantic ❤ 😅
This is proof! That great Gretsch sound!!!
Can anybody tell me what the two units are one the speaker of Anthony Jackson?
Soloing from the indian classic tradition. Great

Here in the Uk we have to exist with the youtube videos from yourself and Bar55 NYC. So thanks
I've seen Wayne live twice at Ronnie Scott's
this is so tight it's fucking vile. delightful

Either a drummer or soon to-be-drummer! I'm a bassist myself but I could easily turn for Keith
Nah hes just black and it’s all about drums.
1:23 classic Krantz
KEITH ❤
How are there any thumbs down?
Drummer is a god.. maybe the god
no way they just played that. fuck!!!

Too much “playing across the bar” for me. But that’s why they’re there and I’m here.

Who is on drumset?
Keith Carlock (www.keithcarlock.com/) is playing drums. Anthony Jackson (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Jackson_%28musician%29) is playing bass.
Keith is ace.
subliminal connection. I ve watched these three live and it was equally mad. No reference point its just connected on a different meter altogether.

hey ! no girls playing guitar in the future it seems ...
I was drawn by technical virtuosity but left when I found no melody in all the videos I watched. Amazing skills but. . .
Wrong.
Is this a drummer or a train??? Wtf?
Still think Zach Danziger kicks KC's ass.
