Aww, you observation is so lovely.
Answering to your question :) I guess there are some beautiful places in the north and the southwest such as
    - Yunnan Province: this province is so beautiful. It has the most diverse ethnic minority groups in China like 20+ in total. One of these minority groups don't have the concept of marriage. Besides, the Tibetan temples up in misty mountains are just so peaceful. One more thing is, down south in this province you'll find the only tropical rain forest in China.
    - Ningxia & Ganxu Province: you'll find deserts and Zhangye Rainbow Mountain (usually the colors are brighter after a rain)
    - Qinghai Province: you'll find big patches of canola fields, and the largest saline inland lake in China. Cycling around the full lake can be challenging and fulfilling as it's located on high altitude. One more interesting place in this province is Kekexili, well, it might be a bit more adventurous and mysterious, because almost no one lives there except wildlife. But the views must be stunning.
    - There are some hanging temples literally built along cliffs. They are located here and there all over the country, so it's difficult to pinpoint one. But should be easy to look them up.
Oh, too many interesting places to list here. I have never been to these places actually. I just know about them. It would be exciting to see them from your videos :)
    Enjoy your following trips :)

China is just sooo big!! There are SOO many beautiful places to visit. Some of the prettiest I’ve been to are Zhangjiajie (an absolutely magnificent mountain range in Anhui with a stunning view at the top, MUST VISIT), Lijiang (an ancient city/town in Yunnan, MUST VISIT), the water villages near Shanghai in Zhèjiāng and Jiāngsū provinces, and the Yuanyang rice fields (amazingly beautiful rice fields in Yunnan, a breathtaking view). I’m glad you enjoy the treasures of China, Poppy. These are the places you might consider visiting!!

Exactly! We all have different opinions and desires. In fact, we don't even see the same colors. Jordan and I got in an argument about what color the water was haha because everyone sees things differently. I see both these places as being the most beautiful in china so far!

Poppy finally introduces the kind of beauty in the Chinese perspective - the kind of landscape that Chinese typically thinks that is beautiful. Thanks!
    Bonus fact:
Many many scenes of Jet Li's debut movie "Shaolin Temple" which helped him to capture the hearts of the audience was filmed in the Guilin area (Yangshuo is part of Guilin).

places that I highly recommend you to visit:
-jiuzhaigou 九寨沟 (the most beautiful place in China and possibly the most scenic place on earth)
-zhangjiajie 张家界 (basically the scenery from Avatar)
-Xiangyang Tang City 襄阳唐城 (rebuilt Tang dynasty city in Tang architecture style)
-Xiangyang Han City 襄阳汉城 (rebuilt Han dynasty city in Han architecture style)
-Hukou Waterfall 壶口瀑布 (trust me, it looks insane - the largest waterfall on the Yellow River)
-tian shan 天山 (amazing mountain range in far west China)
-The Five Great Mountains 五岳 ( five of the most renowned mountains in Chinese history)
-Hangzhou Song dynasty City theme park 杭州宋城 (if you are in Hangzhou and want to experience some ancient Chinese culture)
-Hainan island (Hawaii of China, need I say more?)
-Xian (see the Terracotta warriors and pay respect to the first emperor of China)

I've just recently come back from my second trip to China with my school ( I study Chinese and the group was about 30 people, with the students of around 14-16 years old plus teachers), and we went to Guilin this time, and took a river cruise for about 4 hours along the Li River to Yangshuo and wow was it breath taking! Guilin and Yangshuo are definitely beautiful. I also recommend going over to Chengdu, I went there two years ago during my first time in China. It has this beautiful irrigation system from 256 BC that is STILL in use today! Amazing

    • @chuckywang

"Square" meaning a town square, not what Southerners refer to square dancing (4 couples in a square).

    • @WheresPoppy
      @WheresPoppy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

I thought it was called line dancing...

    • @chuckywang
      @chuckywang 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I don't think there's an official translation. The literal translation of "广场舞" is Town Square Dance, but literal translations from Chinese to English isn't always the best way to translate. I can totally see people calling it line dancing in English.

Line dancing is the life of almost all Chinese old ladies. U can find it everywhere everyday around 7-9pm. It is really noisy if u just live near by a square if u like silence

Visited Guilin for travel in 2013 and for work several times as well. It's true enough that this is one of the most beautiful places in China (or even in the world). And you can find horribly delicious rice-noodles for your breakfast and late-night snack.
Except for the sites mentioned in this vlog, the *Dragon's Bone Terraced Fields* is also strongly recommended. You can just stay here for 3-4 days, for leaving away from big cities and relaxing yourself.

China is so stunning, one of the most stunning countries on earth, you haven't scratched the surface of it yet. Definitely visit Jiuzaigou, most beautiful bodies of water on earth, will even blow away the places in your video, Zhangjiajie, the place avatar was filmed & based off of, yes it's a real place and is Guilin on steroids, also Huangshan, some of the most surreal mountains surrounded by mist. Not to forget Tibet, the Himalayas, Sanya (China's Hawaii) etc. etc. honestly China is so vast and there are so many ethereal places it'd take at least years before you even cover a portion of them. You're in luck being in China, it really is an amazing place, please keep visiting different places and keep making high quality videos like these, they're the best.

I'm a Chinese and I have been travelled all around China. The most beautiful 2 places in my mind is Tibet and Zhang Jia Jie(张家界). Tibet is the highest place you can visit on earth and the scenary there is just what you have to see in your life. On the other hand 张家界 has the strangest mountains on earth, and there is a huge national forest park there. It is very huge and wild. Also, it is where the mountains in Avatar filmed. My experience there was also amzing.

Hi, Poppy, Great Video! Zhang Jia Jie in Hunan Provence is great also, you can see the real "Avatar" mountain there. For most extream hiking, go to Hua Shan near Xian. Also Xian has one of BEST food in China. But, the best of best food in China - go to ChengDu, Sichuan Provence. Enjoy !

If you like super mountains, try Tibet or Yunnan. Although you may need a travel agency. If you dig mountains without altitude stress, try Huangshan. If you like grassland, try Inner Mongolia. If you like beaches, try Hainan. If you like the beauty of water ,try Jiu Zhaigou.

Glad to see you visited Qiandaohu. It's not famous as Guilin to foreigners. But, because of the clear water it attacks a lot of tourists every year especially people from Shanghai and Jiangsu province. Cycling, climbing and swimming are the most attractive activities around this small town.

Great video! Qiandaohu is absolutely beautiful. I went there alone when I was 16 and the beauty blew me away. Still need to visit Guilin and Yangshuo tho.
The most beautiful place I've been in China gotta be the Meili Mountains in Yunnan province. It's in the Tibetan Shangrila region famous for the sunrise. You'll see the golden sunshine light up each of the 7 snow-capped mountains one by one. Also the Yunnan province is just overall the most diverse and arguably most beautiful in China with all crazy landscape and exotic aboriginal cultures you can imagine. Hope you'll get a chance to visit!

A couple other places in the video I sent to you earlier include Keketuohai geopark in Fuyun County and Rainbow beach in Burqin County. I think they are on the way to Kanas. You could do the same route, Urumqi to Keketuohai to Rainbow Beach to Kanas area to Sayram Lake to Lavender fields to Nalati or Kelajun Grassland. On second thought, it might be better to go there before July, when the peak season starts and students are off school.
