  • Here's the entire 2019 Minnesota bear hunt season from pre-season baiting right through when I finally killed a bear in late September. Lots of great info in here. We had a tough year but finally got it done.

    I really like how you put them all together for a nice binge watch. Like you, my BP and heart rate was up and down the whole time. Keep it up and I can’t wait to see what 2022 has in store. Happy Hunting!

    I am 61 and have hunted bears off and on throughout the years. I have watched almost all of your bear video's several times. I can tell you know your stuff. Thank you for doing your vlogs. I have learned a ton from you. I finally got an aria 51 tag. 5 years ago I shot a 21+ bear that made boone and crokett. Number 11 in the state at that time. Good luck this year!!!

    I made it all the way to the end and was sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time. Very informative and I learned a lot after watching hundreds of bear videos, this one steals the show. This one is full of content to get us through baiting, rainstorms, pulling out when needed, making the correct shot and continuing to shoot the bow. Patience, patience, patience! I appreciated knowing how much bait you were going through over those time periods. Abandoning the old soggy bait and putting fresh bait etc. was just off the charts. I’ve been waiting for your video to answer all of my questions that you just answered in this one without knowing it.

    We watched the entire video, we learned so much from what you do. We were wondering why you don’t use corn ? Here in Washington we have found corn and pastries with a little honey/ or maple syrup works consistently. This year our spring bear season was voted down much to our disappointment. We are also trying something new. We will be mixing “Berryliscious “ powder attractant in our corn. Also apples have been very good as well.
    We felt your shock and disappointment when you missed your target bear ( a rushed shot we thought) but that was due to all of the work you put in and the excitement of the target bear coming in.

      I have found that they will eat the corn only after everything else is gone. I can see it working in the spring when there is little competition for natural foods. But in the fall when the woods are full of things to eat they won't make regular visits to corn.

    Hello Bernie, really enjoy your bear hunting videos, bear hunting is such a blast. I have a question, and tell me if I am wrong, are you wearing any kind of safety harness when setting up stands? It is hard to tell with the fast videos. We would hate to loose you buddy! Take care. Bob

    Just Finished This Video and A few Others You've Done. Great Work Man! Baiting just started here in Maine. I'm on my own for the first time I've learned quite a bit watching your footage. This is the first season hunting Bear but after watching you I kind of want to put the shotgun up and Take one with my Bow! Any advice on how to get out of the stand if there's bears in the area and it's past legal shooting or I decide to pass on one? I'll probably have my boy or the wife with me so safety is priority.

    • @BowhuntingRoad
      @BowhuntingRoad  ปีที่แล้ว

      The best way is to have someone come in and get you if possible. It's better to have the attention focused on someone on the ground rather than the hunter in the tree. If you don't have that option, best to just climb down and sneak out with as little disturbance as possible. Hopefully you're not dealing with an aggressive sow with cubs. Every time you hunt a stand it and have to spook bears off the bait it reduces the comfort level of the bears at the bait.

    Do you wear a head sock usually? Wondering if you put it on after the camera or ? Only time I saw was during the rain. 30 something bears dont need my advice but the biggest beat I've ever shot looked right at me , eye contact and all, thought for sure I was busted but was wearing a head sock and stay completely still other then my heart jumping out my chest, thought for sure that would bust me but he eventually put his head down to grab a bite and run and that was enough time for me, I had a rifle not a bow. He knew something was there but I had no skin other then my eyes showing. It was 348 lbs but had no fat really long, tall. And as I'm typing this you have a head sock on. Haha.

    Long video, watching pieces at a time. Was wondering how early you can start baiting before season there? Michigan is usually a month before season opens. We go camping labor day weekend at camp. I did find a buddy to check and bait area again 2 weeks after labor day weekend, before I come up for 2 weeks of bear camp if I win in the bear lottery. I thought someone stole my game camera at my camp. Until I found it with teeth marks 200 yards away. At 36 18 that little bear is about the size of the bear that took my camera.

      In Minnesota we can start baiting on the Friday two weeks prior to the season.

      I was wondering hiw you're able to afford baiting that often with that amount...makes sense with a shorter baiting window! Wisconsin you can start in April n go through season closing in October

      @BowhuntingRoad that's cool. Was only a question. Was just asking due to the fact that a lot of us hunt on our own away from loved ones that care about us. I have a friend who's buddy fell asleep in his tree stand and hit his head on a rock at the bar of his stand and they found him dead. You may not know me or anyone else in the TH-cam community but I asked bc some people care about other people in our community to hunt safely. But good luck to you hope something never happens while you're in the stand👌

    • @BowhuntingRoad
      @BowhuntingRoad  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Rugged_Peaks_Media I get it and I don't mind you asking. I also have a buddy who is in a wheel chair because he fell while getting into the stand. It's a complex issue with a lot of moving parts and maybe I will do a video on the pros and cons of wearing them.

    I’m sorry, but I don’t call what you do bear “hunting”. Should just be called bear “BAITING”, period. Hunting is where you exert energy seeking a bear in their territory. That’s what Billy Molls does. You trick them into coming to you while you wait (maybe should be called bear “WAITING”). But, I still like to watch. But, I will admit that I’m trying to shoo the bear away😄

      You obviously have not thought this through before expressing an opinion. This is not the Alaska Peninsula and these are not brown bears.
