This is one of my all time favorites. Honestly, all of Blackwoods’ works are pristine.

One of the greatest literary geniuses of all time! I always admired him and his contributions to the Lovecraftian Mythos especially.

Algernon Blackwood falls right in the middle of the golden era of horror fiction, spanned by the start of Poe's and the end of Loveraft's career. Would also recommend MR James, Arthur Machen, Bram Stoker, William Hope Hodgson if you enjoy this.

This is one of the best narrations of this masterpiece of Algernon Blackwood. Pacing, diction and emotion - all excellent. Thank you.

A tale for grown ups who appreciate good perceptive writing and understand
that pleasures such as this cannot be rushed. No car crashes here .! No
explosions or throats being cut in gory detail. Just the slow unfolding of a
nightmare. To be savoured like a good malt whisky or a vintage Armagnac....

This is such a good story. Thank you for the uploads, they are much appreciated on a sleepless, insomnia ridden night.
    Have a lovely day.

People who have ridiculous modern notions about what The Wendigo is… should read/listen to this amazing masterpiece.

@18.48 " Both were gay... " I spilt my whisky at that point until I realised...This was written a hundred years ago . Not that there's anything wrong ...etc....etc....

Thank you for this, very good narration but I suggest managing ads better so that it’s not interrupting us every 5 minutes at random spots, it ruins the immersion.

I am reminded of Jacob Wrestles With The Angel for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
31 And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.
32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank.
