      I think too many people just boil it, where all the flavor just escapes into the water and turns it into mush.

      When I was a kid I had a solid 5-month-long phase where I was OBSESSED with broccoli. It was seriously the tastiest thing I could eat besides sweets. All because I had it roasted once at a restaurant.

    I've been obsessed with broccoli ever since I learned just how flavorful the stems are, yet the florets get all the attention.

    • @maxpowers9129
      @maxpowers9129 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think that's because the stems can take longer to cook. As a result, some of the stems are often undercooked compared to the rest of the broccoli, and many people hate that. It's similar to eating mashed potatoes and having small lumps of uncooked potatoes mixed in which most people find gross. If you are just cooking the florets they tend to cook more evenly.

    The obviously still best kept secret - (since it wasn't included) - flavor combination to pair with broccoli is butter and goat cheese or feta cheese. When the feta or goat cheese is mixed with broccoli sauteed in butter a little water or white wine with lots of cracked pepper added (and of course salt to taste), magic happens. It is a real treat over pasta! It is something to try next time the few times a year you indulge in dairy.

    Make a broccoli crouton soup that uses same ingredients and uses cubed croutons.
    They are easier to eat that way and do it for onion soup too.
    Also do a stuffed pasta with a broccoli mix that has cream cheese, sour cream, shallots and seasonings but uses an alfredo sauce and some chicken, and extra cheese.
    Some people don't find that tomatoes and broccoli pair well together.
    Just like some hate cabbage soup with tomatoes, or some think cilantro tastes like soap.

Plus, I add potatoes and carrots all blended in my food processor with the broccoli. Then I mix and yellow cheddar cheese with the soup and cook. Then I add cheddar to the top after bowling the soup 😋‼️
    The second one looks good, though I’ve never tried the recipe 😋‼️
    The third one looks and sounds yummy 😋😋‼️ I add crushed cooked carrots and canned chicken to my sauce when I make Manicotti. Never thought of adding broccoli though.

If you've never done a multiday fast, you have no idea the enormous amount of your daily time is spent thinking about, preparing, or eating food. • @josecorchete3732
      @josecorchete3732 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's rare to be both allergic to fish and seafood, but if that happens, there's Chinese Sauce (contains fish skin and bones, in tiny amounts), Worcester Sauce (contains anchovies in very little amounts), Nori Algae (it may trigger allergies for people allergic to seafood but it shouldn't for people allergic to fish, whom the vast majority are to the protein which the algae doesn't contain), or simply buy Glutamate Monosodic (basic anchovy flavour, also known as Umami. Extremely rare to be allergic to) and add an extra pinch of salt.
      Just ask them how strong their allergies are. If they are allergic to fish too, or strongly allergic to seafood, only the last will be safe.

      Hello, I'm no expert on allergies, but perhaps something like Japanese Miso Paste might be an option for you and your family members who suffer from these fish/shellfish allergies. It is a thick paste produced by fermenting soybeans or rice or barley or perhaps a blend of the aforementioned products with salt and kōji (the fungus Aspergillus oryzae) and sometimes other grains, seaweed, or other ingredients. It does not contain any fish/shellfish products UNLESS you buy a variety which already contains Dashi Broth Concentrate added in (as a shortcut for making Miso Soup), and it will be clearly labeled on the packaging. Dashi Broth is typically made from kezurikatsuo (shavings of katsuobushi - boiled, smoked, dried, and fermented skipjack tuna or bonito) along with kombu (dried kelp seaweed) and is a key ingredient in Japanese cuisine and in Miso Soup. You can find vegetarian Dashi Broth made without the fish in Asian grocery stores or online. There are other types of Dashi, but I digress.
      Dried mushrooms, such as the shiitake variety contain a lot of the glutamates which give us the umami flavors and may also work as a substitute for you. Just soak the dried shiitake mushrooms in water until they have rehydrated, pour the soaking liquid through a paper coffee filter just in case there is any grit or silt, and you can also chop the rehydrated mushrooms to use in addition to the soaking liquid, provided that you want the texture.
      I have included some links below for you if you'd like more information about what miso is, how to select the varieties, how to use it, and even how to make your own at home for total control over the ingredients. Some people even bake with miso, but I haven't tried it and these links don't get into that sort of thing. I hope this helps you in finding an umami substitute for your household, plus it has all sorts of health benefits!
