I'm from Tha Bay, and the 2009 7th pick that became Steph was almost traded with Biedrins (then averaging a double double) for prime Amar'e Stoudemire. The Warriors core was gonna be Monta/S Jackson (then averaging about 20/5/5)/Maggette/Stoudemire with good young shotblocking bench bigs and elite spotup shooter Anthony Morrow, which would have been a 50+ win team at the time. But Phoenix got greedy. Iirc there were 2 additional 1sts on the table but Phoenix wanted more player assets at least. We didn't like Stoudemire's contract situation that much to give up more than our double double young center and 3 1sts while taking on additional salary. So we (GS) said no. Needless to say, Phoenix would not end up getting more value out of Stoudemire than that. 🤯 Despite Steph's epic ankle troubles which allowed us to give him a team-friendly rooky extension (4/44 which was the contract Steph was in when the cap jumped in 2016), we traded Monta + stuff for Bogut at the 2012 deadline and load managed the rest of the year heavily. Coach Jackson then took us to back to back playoff appearances in the rooky season of Harrison Barnes and Draymond and then in 2014, where we lost to the dynasty Spurs and peak Lob City. Jackson was fired for non basketball reasons and the rest is history. In the Steph draft, the Knicks had the #8 pick. They drafted for fit instead of trading up with us because they thought they were good at point guard 😏😏🤷 Meanwhile, after the Suns broke up the Amar'e team, they spent their lottery picks on guys like Kendall Marshall (2012), Alex Len (2013), Dragan Bender (2016), and so forth. Booker was #15 iirc, (in 2015) not a lottery pick at all.

I think he controls all the teams, so he makes the trades. That’s how all the trades that happened in real life happened in the sim
Probably downloads the roster for each season and adds the player the sim is about to that team.
