Excellent work, Daniel. I'm a 40 year veteran engineer.. with many digital consoles.. But I recently got a job where needed to use the M32. And I needed a quick talk through about it - especially for TAP points.. and general bus structure of the M32. You did a great job! Thanks for a thorough yet quite clear explanation!!

Thanks for explaining the different tap points for the Buses. I like how configurable the X/M 32 consoles are, but the output routing and configuration possibilities are confusing. My take away from your video is that I should use an Input tap point of Post Eq on the Bus for mixes that are being used for monitors (stage or IEM) because, in my experience, singers generally don't like to have compression on their vocals in the monitors. I would use a Post Fdr setting in the Output Routing section in order to have the bus eq, bus master fader and mute be active for a given monitor mix. This is for a system where FOH and monitors are being mixed from the same console.
Very helpful video, especially for someone like me that is new to this space. I do have a challenge, how do I get the main LC to the amplifier? I can see that there is something on the meters for the mic and Main LC, but it is just not getting to the amplifier (and speakers). I can hear the outputs on the headphones monitor, as well, but... not on the speakers where I need them to be. I guess there is a routing problem, but I cannot seem to narrow it down. Any pointers, help?

I dont really quite grasp the use for subgroup... I mean does default busses(pre eq, post eq, pre fader, post fader) also could be send to main LR?... why bother using subgroup tho... correct me if i am wrong... or did i miss something?
Yes but all other tap points require you to separately raise the sends level for that channel to get into the bus A subgroup doesn't have a separate sends level The fader of the channel itself dictates the level that is going into the subgroup Technically you can use a post fader bus as a subgroup for the purpose of mixing but you'll have to do the extra step of sending all the channels at 0db to that bus

I would use a subgroup for all the drums to do some general eq and compression on all the drum mics together. If you have a lot of vocals you can put them on a subgroup and do the same thing. I really do not understand the whole "unmute the channel" step that you do when setting up a sub-group. That does NOT work. Maybe you are using a different firmware revision? I am using the very latest on a Midas M32 console. But the steps that you perform, do not work as described. In fact, the way that you have to do it is select the bus that you want to use (and using any busses between 1 and 4 or 1 to 6 seems odd as well since there are always monitors on those busses), and then press Fader Flip, and then raise the channels up that you want to send to that bus. Then, the rest of the steps are okay.
I am running the latest firmware as well. There's no send for a subgroup. The level that goes into it is the same as the channel fader. If you have a subgroup, no channel is assigned to it by default. That's why when you select a subgroup and press flip fader all the channels will be muted, it means they are off/not assigned to that subgroup. By unmuting you are turning on/assigning the channel to the subgroup. Then you turn off flip fader because there are no sends for subgroups. If you want to raise the level of the channel going to the subgroup you simply raise the actual fader of the channel not the send. And the mute button confuses you try doing this on the M32 edit app on your computer. There's a on/off button instead. So select the channel and go to the sends page and turn on the on/off button on the appropriate bus. And regarding busses 1-6 maybe in your case you have monitors on them but that doesn't mean that they are always for monitors. You choose whatever bus you want it's the same process for all of them
