    The scariest part for me is the fact that young Tiger could produce 130 mph clubhead speed while weighing like 140 lbs. He was a real skinny kid back in the day and he was producing clubhead speeds to guys who were more muscular.

      GrandmasterN I'm honestly interested in where you got a source that says smash factors haven't changed since '98. I honestly didn't do any research on it, but my gut tells me it has to be higher now than it was in 1998. Also, how accurate were launch monitors back in '98 to begin with; after all, that is how smash factor gets calculated.

    He changed his swing because his left knee was going thru so much torque. Butch told him to keep the swing and make minor changes and that is one reason he left and joined Hank Haney. When you hear Tiger talks about his swing now, it is right leg that gets a lot of the work.

    2012 stack and tilt swing was actually a more powerful swing but Tiger was so athletic in 2000 that he could stand up a bit more upright and still generate insane power. I think he fucked up his back trying to go to a less natural but more powerful swing to get closer to his 2000 distances.

      TheRattler33 jack averaged 270 off the tee in 1980 welllll past his prime. Also your not mentioning that avg distance isnt measured by clubs. If you hit a 2 iron off the tee 220 down the fairway then that factors in. If you don't think jack could avg 300 with that driver back in the late 60's then you don't know Jack! Pun intended.

      Nobody ever heard of smash factor then as well.
      Stop trying to prop up your guy against the greatest with regard to swing speed, tech, etc.
      In the end, its the results that count.
      And, fyi, Jack FLEW a 330 yard hole with a persimmon wood.

    • @timfrost08
      @timfrost08 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you ever watched the swing of a young Jack Niclaus? It was the swing of a long driver. He monstered it. John Daly hit it longer than tiger and he used to drink beer instead of go to the gym. Just because someone is younger, newer and has improved training methods doesn't mean its always superior. Niclaus and Daly are two of the longest hitters in the history of the tour. Tiger is a great golfer who hits it very far, but even then there are long drive hitters who can fly the ball 50 yards farther than him..... doesn't mean they are better golfers.

    long term steroid use does come with delayed negative effects to the mind and body. although his injuries are legitimate, when the delayed onset of negative effects from long-term steroid use do finally begin, obvious declines in mental and physical body health appear. it can actually cause physical injuries itself and or 100% effect your bodies normal way of recovering and regenerating from injuries. you can clearly notice in his career the huge amount of muscle mass he's accumulated and when he was at his biggest, the injuries started, and the obvious decline started, obvious mental lapses in his choices while married, mental changes in golf, I mean how many swing coaches does one need and how many new swing styles you need, or is it from mental instability? also all these injuries and just various other aches and pains and annoyances he feels just go on and on and on, years of nagging him. don't think it can't be possible, he felt it was ok to cheat in marriage why wouldn't he think an edge in golf wouldn't be ok. the constant pressure on himself and everyone else of breaking Jacks major record is also motive for him to have a by any means possible belief in his head. I hope it's not the case but over and over the big picture keeps lining up that way.

      there is zero proof of him taking steroids. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, but again, there is zero proof. Nothing is "lining up that way". Yes, his body is wrecked. From what? it could be an number of things.

    The craziest thing.. was he was swinging true temper shafts on his driver! I’ve hit s300 shafts on my irons since I first started playing. The weight compared to graphite shafts even in those days is insane. Can you imagine a 24 year old Tiger hitting the quality graphite shafts we have in 2020?? The club head speed would be absolutely insane.

    • @tonythaiger93
      @tonythaiger93 ปีที่แล้ว

      but would have hit less fairways. You are right-he was a beast of all beasts. I think Phil hit irons longer than Tiger in early 2000s. Phil used to hit 195 yards with 7 iron which was insanity back in the days with traditional lofts.

      @Whoopdido777 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tonythaiger93 I’m sure, like most guys, Phil bent his irons down, so he was hitting more like a 6 iron. Tiger always played (and still does now, on the rare occasion when he actually does play) standard lofts and even slightly higher than standard lofts in his irons. He still plays blades too. Plenty of Tour Pros have actually switched to cavity backs or some type of in between iron like a muscle back.

      He used X100 shafts and even had them bored through. Orr custom golf in Orange used to do it for him. It’s wild how hard he swung

    • @djmohab2
      @djmohab2 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Whoopdido777 You Tigod simps are insufferable. No pro is playing jacked-up lofts, let alone Phil Mickelson, one of the world's best. There's a difference between a cavity-back like a T100 and some massive super game improvement club which nobody on tour plays.

    • @bradcarter5403
      @bradcarter5403 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tonythaiger93not with these driver head/shaft combinations available today. He was hitting nearly 7 of 10 fairways from 97-00. It definitely wouldn’t have went down. I understand why he left Harmon, but Butch Harmon had that swing tailored to him and Woods absolutely mastered it. These new drivers still fly straight as long as you get the head square.. I’ve had too many of them on the simulator to know if they’re more accurate for my 4 handicap that Tiger is squaring the head on plane more often than. If I’m hitting more fairways he would no doubt

    Tiger's swing in the 90's looked great, very loose and free. His 2000's swing is a technical marvel and a thing of beauty, but it was tension filled.

    These golfers today wouldn’t want to deal with young 90s early 2000s tiger. He was stronger and more aggressive. And was out foe blood each tournament. These days tiger is more friendly and golfer friendly with other players.

    Should have kept the 2000 swing. Pretty much a dialed back, more controlled version of his amateur/early pro swing. Obviously he had his best results with that 2000 swing (7 of 11 majors).

    This footage is valuable in the way it is put together. Tiger's driver grip alignment seems to be the furthest from his body in his golf career. The length of the club shaft at that time and the characteristics of the head probably made it so.
