- Fabricating a jaw rock crusher from scratch. Finishing the trailer - cleaning up steel rims and changing tires, fabricating tow bar, making drawback rod and motor mount, installing huge flywheel, then final assembly and TESTING!
What is a jaw rock crusher - a crusher that has jaws and crushes rocks, concrete, bricks etc. and turns it into gravel.

Nicely done, You can add a skidplate under it an the use it as an compator to compact the cruched material.
I like the idea of a machine that crushes bricks only to make new bricks
@Thullen’s Garage this machine is a brilliant idea to fabricate out of scrap! Your idea of adding a skid plate to also compact is genius in its own right! Crush the concrete, spread it out, move the machine and let it compact what it just crushed! Well done, my hats off to you both!

So very true Mike, I think it's way more interesting when people build stuff that actually makes life better / easier for them. Of course turbocharged karts are cool too, lol, but this is wayyyy more appealing to me as well! You guys could do one hell of a collab. Too bad you're like 8,000 miles away from each other...

Granite. Quartz. Something harder. Concrete shatters pretty easy. Im no geologist but id guess it would probably work on granite but it would take a lot longer. Would definitely find out if there's any weak points in it haha
Depends on the granite, there's a lot of different types. Quartz would be the real test. I'm a stonemason

Great job! You could try an "electric clutch" from a riding lawn mower.. would allow you to use whatever rpms you wanted but still be able to engage/disengage at will..

Really liked watching this build, you're a talented fabricator. It will be interesting to see how well the rebar holds up. If you're going to use it a lot I would invest into some hard facing rod or wire just to help slow the wear down a little bit. Again great job on this build.
I'm really impressed with this build, it works and runs really well. The clutch seems to be doing it's job relay well too.

You could put a little screen/chute underneath to further separate the fines and gravel, helpful in some situations

Damn that turned out pretty nice. Now you should add one more video when you upgrade the gearing and then when you finish the pile of concrete and have a nice road put in!
What an awesome build.
Maybe a hopper chute added over the opening allowing you to load it with more than 1 or 2 pieces at a time letting the load help to work the bottom bricks or rocks downwards with their weight... Looks and works great !

I have watched every episode with rising attention, simply love it!!!
Maybe a nice addition will be some kind of shaking gutter/chute driven by the shaking of the machine wich feeds the material to the jaws.
Did you tested it with rocks? I really like to know how it handles this.

Great job (as usual)! Looks like it works awesome and will be perfect for turning your supply of old concrete and broken blocks into something useful around your farm.
Suggestions:
Are you going to build an intermediate shaft (jackshaft) to gear it down? Seems least costly to me if you have a couple extra pulleys laying around.
I'd also maybe consider a flap at the bottom that is hinged at the front and would allow the gravel to discharge toward the back. It'd still pile up, but be much easier to get to for spreading etc. Could have a simple strap or lever to hold it up when not in use.

DIY RCA, absolutely awesome job. I really enjoyed watching the build. With the jaws set as they are makes a really nice gravel. This would be a much better way to recycle the large rocks that seem to grow in my large vegetable garden every year.

Should make a second add on box to make a deeper box for more wieght creating more feed in the crusher.
You sir beat me to it, was thinking the same thing. Would also help in moving the unit to the next fill area not having to move brick and machine.
I think a crankshaft with more stroke will greatly improve the crushing speed
It would take very little extra stroke to bring it to a halt.
@@UncleKennysPlace it doesn't seem that the engine is struggling. We don't know how much horsepower the crusher really takes.
He could check the throttle plate position while crushing, if the governor pulls it already almost wide open, there is no power left. If it is just half open, he has enough horsepower left...
And if he changes the pulleys to make the crusher rotate slower, that will increase the torque which will allow more stroke.

You need a pusher blade for the front of your 4 x 4
I was thinking about a tow behind grader... then again both would be neat.
Box grader is the most simple for the UTV and works amazing for that sort of thing. Could do a blade but much harder with the UTV and other farm equipment. Box grader is the way to go

This is just brilliant! Followed every step of the way... now I want to see it with either the log conveyor belt under it to feed into the trailer, OR, or, or... powered front wheels that take it at around 0.5kmh and a snow plough 'spreader' device behind to make its own road as it goes along! You’re way too critical of yourself. Anything homemade is gonna have its little issues…it comes with the territory. You did a great job and built a very nice, useable machine. I applaud you. Don’t listen to the people criticizing you on here. If they were so capable and smart they wouldn’t be watching YOU build this thing, THEY’D be building one themselves! Great job!

Same. Those interior bolt heads are going to get majorly, majorly worn. Or are those bolts going to serve as the wear indicators, and you'll just wait for them to get so badly worn that when they break off you'll know its time to replace the wear plates?

Bricks and sandstone are not much of a test, would like to see some field rocks go through it.
But if this is what the machine was made to deal with thats all it needs to do.

Excellent build Donn,
You could use the firewood conveyor belt and then put all the gravel into a drum of some kind with a slit on the front face. The idea is that when you want to use it you can use the forklift to drive it around, and open the little slit so the gravel comes out and then you just need to drive the section that you want to be filled with gravel.

Great build on the crusher! Have old brick and needing road gravel! Fix problems on sight, priceless 👌!
You'd get a decent amount of the wobble out if you had some weights on the back left of the trailer, to balance out the engine weight in the front and the flywheel on the right. Also yes, making sure the flywheel is balanced would help too. Also if you want it to crush faster, you need to make a bigger cam lobe on the shaft (or slower gearing, as you mentioned. You could do both and get a pretty good boost to crush speed.) Very nice job!
Awesome build Donn! Yes the frequency of vibration was a little high, and didn’t give enough time for the bricks to fall. I’d start with a big pulley and machine it little by little to hit the sweet spot.

BTW, your turbo diesel ATV build was the inspiration for me to build my 4x4 UTV. Might also do a 1.9 TDi ATM swap in the future on it. Right now I'm rockin' a 1.4 petrol engine with manual transmission on it.
@@DonnDIY If you want install automatic transmission check your transmission ratios, because my axles are 2.65 , and with that AT gearbox max speed on max revs are only 60km/h. Comfortable speed only about 35km/h
No worries. My current BMW differentials have 2.8...something gearing, the top speed at the moment is around 53 km/h. I use the UTV only on the homestead for work and don't do long trips. I'm just presuming that driving automatic is a bit more comfortable than manual. Especially for you on your ATV.
