The only time you would or should lash a blade to a stick, is to cut down fruit that's out of reach. Or it's not safe to climb to try to get it. Then the blade should be immediately taken off and secured. But yeah it's not wise to to have a knife on the end of a spear. Just fire harden the tip and you should be fine. And if you need it for a good weapon, your better off make a cub an lashing Obsidian and gluing it in place, like a machuahuitl or shark teeth like a Hawaiian war cub.
i bought a rambo knife for a spear and its pefect cuz it has a hollow handle so i just jam the stick in it after i stripped it and tie it or wedge it stuck its perfect
The accuracy of throwing a spear with a throwing knife I'd say would be better then hurling the knives by themselves. How many time is a knif thrown and hits handle first...every time a spear flys it's always sticking. Lol good video on the options, had me laughing at the multi tool part. The machete would make a long range brush sweeper lol.
Why would I put a knife on the end of a stick... even my only knife? I will tell you why I've done it several times.... I've caught feral pigs in snares and in some places where I felt it wasn't wise to carry a firearm it was much safer to use a spear to kill the pig instead of trying to do the job with just the knife. While I've made my own spear heads, I've found that the Cold Steel Bushman knives are pretty much ideal for the job. Best wishes from New Zealand.
Brian Smith you can hide in the jungle and live off the land fairly easy. I think there are much better places on the mainland to hide out and survive just a lot more land. I'll do a video on that its a great topic. Mahalo for watching
If you are hunting big game that small throwing knife would never hit a vital organ. Not sure a sharp stick would get enough penetration. I carry an 8 inch dagger, perfect for converting into a spear for big game, it's double edged and razor sharp, 8 inches of penetration.
Interesting. I searched to see how to do this and guessed the worst and best setups. The multitool looked pretty ridiculous. In addition to selecting the right type of knife, I'd like to know more about lashing it. My instinct tells me that to properly connect it, you must wrap many times and then somehow maybe add a toggle so that you can twist everything extremely tight? I would probably hollow out a channel at the end of the stick, put the knife in it, try to use whatever ergonomic recesses or loopholes are there, make tons of wraps all along the handle as tightly as I can, and really cinch that sucker down pretty far down the spear, with room for the toggle to tighten it up really hard.
Probably the best use for those throwing knives. Thank you for the video, Gabe
True
Knife on a stick (survival spear) is pretty much a necessity in northern Canada where 12 foot tall bears are an issue.

BLACKBOOT SURVIVAL yes I can make a lot of weapons just with my knife and some decent material. I agree with you. Mahalo for stopping by!!
BLACKBOOT SURVIVAL it's exactly what I was to answer. To give yourself some reach. Not to throw. For hunting far better using a wooden spear point.
This is good especially for pitbulls like if you want to to kill one in self defense. It works great
or wild hogs
Another awesome video! I enjoy making four pronged spears for fun haha, haven't attached a knife to one yet but it looks fun too haha
Good to know, glad I have more than one knife

Great tip thanks
Tom Olofsson much mahalo
hope all is well i think the hole on that big knife is for forward lanyards top and bottom not sure but ive seen people use them that way
James Case I've never used lashing points on a knife like that. Mahalo for watching brah!!
Yea bro me eather but I think Gideon survival or tactical one of those dudes were using that for lanyard hole for chopping

The longest the wound rope, the softest the bind, because elongation is proportional to its length... So keep it short!

Great example
In a SHTF scenario, how does Hawaii rate in regards to the best place to live and survive? Thanks for the interesting videos!
Looks a lot better than Scotland my friend lol.

Now which one will stop a charging wild boar?
JustSimplyBrandon Mr. Mauser 8mm or Mr. TommyGun LOL Mahalo for watching
Guys, I think he would never put his knife on the end of a stick in a survival situation. Maybe I’m wrong.
at night time a spear feels better than a hand held knife

It looks cool putting knives on sticks.

I’d use a Celtic knife for that.
Smart. Thanks H.I.S.!

Just sharpen the stick and heat it up to make it hard
plus dont throw your spear make it longer use it for thrusting in to target
