I prefer the Wide single bevel solid. Single bevel helps the flight and it’s quiet. Adds 25g but I’d rather have the help in flight and it be quiet.
BMAC! 🫶🏻
looks like a lethal setup for 2024!
Awesome setup love the iron will broadheads
Nice! My moose arrows are X-Impacts, 200 grains upfront, Iron Will.
I've never ever seen an arrow blast though a new 3d target like a well built X-Impact.
Sweet! I heard you mention in your other video about keeping a mechanical for for a follow up shot and I’d never heard that before but I instantly fell in love with that concept and started looking at which mechanical I’m going to keep with me, just in case, for a long follow up.
digging your switch to the new (old) sight. Love your energy, Dan. Best of luck in the upcoming season. Been getting a lot or reps with my new bow - here in the North East we don't have Elk... but you inspire!
🙏🙏
Have you heard or ran into any limb issues with the lift (crack/splintering)? I want a lift but am getting a little nervous now. I am really only seeing it with the earth and bottomland colors. I know obviously color shouldn’t make a difference.
Nope - zero issues and a ton of arrows have been put through this bow! -DS
I am the same as you. The Axcel slider sucks. The knob is in the way and the sight is loud. The five pin head is awesome. I would have used black gold or spothogg. To each there own use what works for you and good luck
So which pin on your sight is your rover?? I have the same sight, except the 5 pin, and I struggled to set it up. I’m comfortable now with making adjustments but still trying to fine-tune. Matthews 3X 29. At 65# and a 27 1/2 inch draw. With that being said, I sure wouldn’t mind seeing your process of setting up the Landslide
Savage setup! We will be running pretty similar business ends! I agree… the 125 wides did not “whiz” the way the standard wide 125 did! QAD all day everyday! I also got to quiver my grim reaper 125 micro hybrids!
What is your weight on the front and back bar?
I've been watching your videos for 2 years and was so excited for bow season coming up. I just had shoulder surgery Friday and had the worst news possible. It will be 5 months before I can do anything with my right arm and even then, there will be minimal weight. Last season didn't happen because of a car accident injury to my right shoulder, surgery from that 2 days ago, and now this season is over before it started. I have a brand new lift 29.5, UV slider still in the box, and match strings that still need to be put on. Just ordered that nice SKB case from Josh for the lift. I am completely bummed. To miss 2 seasons in a row has just sank my battleship. Feel like I just got kicked in the nuts.😩
Get well soon! Setbacks... Comebacks! -DS
Me and my family met the Bowmars in Iowa. They were the coolest people. Sat and talked to my 7 and 5 year old for over a hour. Showing them pics and videos. Super cool people! We are also running their broadheads this year.
Didn't they get caught poaching
@@Ep2.0-o7ithe outfitter they used was caught poaching. It’s a pretty simple google search really…😊
@@Ep2.0-o7iincorrect. Charged with conspiracy, meaning it was going on around them and they should have known better.
@Ep2.0-o7i No, they were hunting with an outfitter that had other clients poaching. Bowmars got lumped in and investigated but poaching charges were dropped.
@@05Dmax_LLY they paid 75,000 dollars! You don't pay that if you know you didn't do anything wrong
Got to get some of those collors and inserts
I love the enthusiasm can’t wait to see how you get on. Thanks for sharing.
🙏🏼
Hey man. Love the video. Just curious if you’ve had any issues with limb splintering on the lifts? I’m shooting 75# at 29” draw and my bottom limbs cracked. Was curious if you’ve had any issues like that? I’ve been seeing a lot of posts on social media about the limbs going bad. Thanks.
Confidence in your setup is key! LFG! Count down is on 💪
Awesome setup. Running the Micro hades fixed as primary and beast as secondary as well.
Your an absolute killer man! Go get it, can’t wait to see the content.
🙏🏼
Running rip tko with podium 30 grain titanium with 15 grain collar. Same ironwill as yours. 3 blazers with max helical. 430 grains with around 17% foc. Feeling real confident with this set up for white tail.
I listened to the bow junkie podcast with Josh bowmar and they talked about his broadhead. Looks wicked. Excellent choice for follow ups 👍
Is the fact that you use 1 bow (I know you HAVE 2 but I’m assuming they’re literal replicas) for everything the reason you run the 29.5 over the 33?
Hi Dan, excellent content! What kind of speed are you getting with your hunting arrows when the bow is set at 70 lbs vs 80 lbs.
I have a similar setup ( 26 inch draw length,lift 33 ,70 lbs, arrows are 453 grains ) just curious. Thx
Looks like a solid setup, brother!
🫡
Looks Good! As long as you have confidence in your set up !!
🫡
Good luck this year!
You too!
Curious when setting up your arrows. Did you run into issues with the fix blade flying differently than the mechanical blade?
Your set up looks MONEY!
Appreciate it Roy - rooting for you this year in Idaho! -DS
which release are you taking in the woods with you?
You having any problems with limbs cracking? My lift had 2 limbs crack after about 400 arrows through it.
Awesome setup man. Alright one question and maybe I missed it somewhere but why change from victory to an x10? Besides just wanting to tinker. Keep up the great work
Is that a Easton field point ??
So if your tuning with the iron wills, how are you making sure the mechanical is a spot on?
Hey Dan love the setup, looks like a winner!! Did u give any thoughts to using the Valkyrie system?? Also what were ur reason to go a 1/2” shorter on DL best of luck this season!!!
I have the Valkyrie system - it's a great option for sure. What I am running gives me plenty of confidence not to change. Also, my draw length is 26.5 with Mathews and 27" with other manufactures. -DS
Are you tying knots below and above your nose button? I just got one and was wondering if I should go that route so it doesn't move.
Yes - and mark it with a sharpie because it can get bumped. -DS
Can you do a video on your backcountry meal plan?
Why no more Dark Owl Scope !?! Thought that was a killer set up! I bought one !
Curious about this as well
Because the purpose was advertising... And you bought one. If it's a good scope, it'll be good whether or not he uses it this year or not. Enjoy your purchase, you don't need validation from your favorite hunting celebrity
Pin gap is a off now that I bumped up to 80# - I'll circle back to it later this fall when I switch to my whitetail set-up. I own 3 scopes from Dark Owl, I think it's awesome! To the marketing comment - I don't work with Dark Owl and just happen to know the owner and think he's a total badass! -DS
@@ElkShape my bad, I assumed sponsorship. I still stand behind the premise of my comment, parasocial relationships are incredibly effective at influencing an audience and driving sales. The cynical undertones of my comment come from frustration with this.
Did you see a lot of wear on your mach string at the roller guard after 10,000 shots? I'm over 1000 shots and can see a lot of wear on mine
Brother there are two things about you that I vehemently respect; you follow God and whatever it is you're telling us when it comes to archery...you hold no punches and tell it based on your real world experience. You're honest to a fault sir and it is admirable. Thank you for what you're doing for the sport sir. I'm glad you were able to get over the slump you were in. Good luck this season and hoping The Lord allows you to lay eyes on an absolute brute this year. God bless you and the fam sir.
Was noticing you switched from the UV SLIDER. One of the “best sights” I’ve used. Just can’t see the pins
Yes correct - I LOVE the body of the UV Slider, the way it slides, the ergonomics. Still trying to figure out how to put this custom axcel 4 pin head on the UV slider to have my personal sweet spot. -DS
@@ElkShape the light and everything on the slider is so nice. But since I’m heading to Idaho for the first time…can’t use it. So I had to get rid of it 🥲
The logo trying to cover the beast bowmar😂
Let's go! 🏹
I need an opinion on something, an injury/weakened muscle group which I am currently trying to build back up.I know it's not the content of this video but still archery related.
Something took place in my deltoid (RH , my dominate side)over the winter, not exactly sure what or when but it was notable and very painful and eventually subsided and recovered but I have recently found it to be greatly weakened in comparison to my LH side.
I am 50 and in decent physical shape and never had issues with pulling my bow, well now it is. When starting to practice this year, and I had already turned by bow down to 55lbs last fall to prevent injury. Last month I started to practice and much to my surprise , could only muster one full length draw.Had no idea this had happened nor to this degree, 20 years ago you shot at 70lbs without flinching but now I am in old man category. I see some guys saying you should be able to pull 30 arrows during a practice session on your hunting rig, this to me seems excessive , a target rig I assume will be different so I have no current intentions to do 30 arrow practice sessions.
So I have always done strength exercises and some calisthenics to stay in somewhat decent shape as I see the benefits it has on lifestyle and health.
So................................. now to the big question....
Would it be of better benefit to build that strength back and leave the bow as is and leave the bow alone for 4-6 weeks or turn the bow down further , practice/strength train and then turn it back up?
It's moving a 100 grain arrow at 240 ft/sec , I checked today so this part to me is totally usable for white tail which is my main quarry.
I have done some more targeted resistance exercises and it seems to be slowly coming around but just curious what those with physical training/conditioning would like to see in this situation.
Bow is a Reflex Charger riser with Hoyt XT1000 limbs with Cam and 1/2 system( sometimes quads fall on bows when loading ramps break and you need to repair), 27.5" draw length, 400 grain arrow.
P.S. - This slow recovery as you age starts to suck, HAHAHA.
Have a good one folks.Watching from central Saskatchewan.
I'm having problems with getting my broadhead and target tip hitting at the same at 40 yds and farther. Do you have any suggestions? I was at Ocean Shores last weekend, picked up an old 2008 Bowhunter and read YOUR article. Didn't realize you have been into archery and getting into shape, hence the name ELKSHAPE. Great job, keep it up !
Lots of info on TH-cam regarding BH tuning. Inside out Precision YT channel does a great job explaining it.
check this one out we did last year - th-cam.com/video/64K-hIX-yMs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CeVhTgQvyOFVk6Nf
Thanks
You are the man I know you gonna bring a big bull home!!!
Lord willing! -DS
Just curious why you swapped from the dark owl scope?
I love the dark owl - I think I have 3 scopes from them! I bumped back to 80# for elk and the pin gap is a little off, I'll probably run it again for whitetail later this year. -DS
Whats your total arrow weight Dan-o? I may have missed it if you did in fact say it. I ask because i too suffer from the 26.5" birth defect😂 jk but seriously im wondering what kind of speed in comparison to t.a.w. youre getting, amd also wondering what #sight tape you generally run on a spot hogg movable sight? I know ive seen them on your rigs in the past just never remember hearing you ever mention a tape number. Also how do you get so much distance like in a t.a.c. type scenario? Thanks bro
Does Acxel make an adapter for the UV slider yet?
Sweet rig
🙏🏼
Hey Dan, I wanted to throw out an idea for your setup. Last year i decided to not run a 20 pin anymore. My 30 pin is about 3" high at 20yds with my setup. What are your thoughts on running a 30,40,50,60 pin setup? I dont know if you've already tried and decided against it but i wanted to hear your thoughts on it.
That definitely works... ran a system like that few years back. I like a 20 so I am keeping that on my system this year! -DS
@ElkShape awesome, sounds good Dan! Good luck this season!
Curious what your speed is ?
What pin size you running ?
With your fixed blades, do you cut your arrow short so the broadhead is as close to the rest as the insert allows or do you configure it so the broadhead sits at front of the riser?
How heavy is your total arrow setup?
Bingo! Gonna be a slayer!
Thanks my dude! Congrats on your new book drop! -DS.
@ElkShape Thanks so much man! Stoked!
The beast broadheads look legit but man they are pricey
Um yea... I bought a pack and realized it only comes with 2 and a practice head -DS 🫠
What direction do your match strings clock your arrows mine is to the right thanks
What happened to the sect hybrids you talked about in your arrow set up video?
Grim reaper are the sharpest mechanicals on the market
I think Grim Reaper as a company is one of the best to do it! Made in 🇺🇸 and quality heat treatment in their blades! -DS
Makes my 6 yr old Hoyt all original bow look like a dinosaur 😆still got me an elk last year tho
What bow shop would you recommend in North idaho. I’m down in lewiston no personal shops here
Spokane Valley Archery 🏹
@@ElkShape ok thanks
I always notice when people say "I'm running ... (w/e gear)" now. Almost all YT hunters use that phrasing. Its like a tarkov loadout
You should consider/test the Vaportrail GI8. Light, Fully enclosed vbar-no need for cock & stalk. Limb driven, and micro adjust without clicks.
When can we get a regular fireside podcast with you and MFJJ? Everyone knows that’s the podcast the people want.
I was just on the fireside chat last week with the boys. I have my own Pod (year 7) so probably not going to start another one! You never know though. -DS
Yea sir, love your pod, never miss an episode 👊. But would also love a regular pod with just you and JJ, especially now you guys will be neighbors 😉
nice video
Have you ever thought about running Gold Tip Pierce LRT or VAP SS just curious..but I really like the setup as long as your limbs hold up.
No I haven't! Thanks for watching! -DS
Arrow weight I been fighting what arrows to shot an weight we are the same draw length?
His previous video is all about his arrow build for this season
Victory xv 75 grain inserts, 125 grim hybrid and Sirius evolution 3 blade, with lighted knock, roughly 440 #ABT
How do those wides fly for you out to 50-60 yards?
Watch the video where he’s grouping them at 80 😳
The furthest I've tested it is out to 90 - took some micro tuning! -DS
@@ElkShape Heck ya!
Total arrow weight??
449!
Total arrow weight Dan?
4 4 9
🤘🏼
Sirius arrows > Easton.
arrow wieght???
That’s in the video prior
449
Sleeping on sevr
Nope….
Options canyon pounder fix’s all the above fiddle!
Huge fan of Dan Evans! He makes a great sight. -DS
How do you do a whole video on your setup and not once mention your taw. Also this is absolutely not your setup that you will be hunting with. You already have the lift 2.0
Because his arrow build was in the video before this…
Total arrow weight is 449
449 sunshine! -DS
5 comments in five minutes... Ok
Pretending to not know, Josh is childish
real question....have you had any limbs delaminate yet?
Makes the most man comment ever. ‘LOVE the body what’s going on here, don’t like the head on it though’ 🤣😂🤣😂
Bowmar is a poacher. Please don't support him.
