I personally think the lava rock is attempting some form of equivalent exchange like we saw with the Lokakaka but it only serves to limit how large of a "request" you can make for the lava rock and once you pass a certain threshold of request it requires some form of exchange and dragona dragging it across all of the images might have exceeded the limit and that was what the vibrating was.
It's really interesting that it seems to operate on a subjective level and recognize what we humans consider valuable, rather than the more objective "things of beauty" and miracles the Saint's Corpse and the Wall Eyes provided. Additionally, considering it seemed to take away Charmingman's little brother and Usagi seemed to develop a rock-like disease, It makes me wonder if its not from an unseen enemy stand attack but rather if there's also some sort of equivalent exchange at play here like you said, like the more valuable things it draws, the greater the cost, like a monkey's paw or a Faustian bargain or something.
This is why I love Araki's work, the lava rocks are such a supernatural & weird idea, & yet he manages to give them an actual plausible explanation on how they work
Hello, Hamon Beat. I don't know if you gonna see my comment, but its gonna be long and has a little bit of interesting information about Hawaiian volcanos and some of history. As with any natural phenomenon, the Hawaiians had to somehow explain why there were so many mountains on the islands, which spit out huge pieces of fiery earth and ash into the air at varying intervals. Pele - Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes and fire. According to folklore, she arrived on the Hawaiian archipelago from outside and left many volcanic craters on the islands. Until the end of the 19th century (and in fact, still) the Hawaiians presented Pele with various gifts and sacrifices, just so as not to get killed by eruptions. In volcanology there is a term "lapilli". This is the name given to stones formed by lava frozen in air. Volcanologists also like to attribute various types of frozen lava to Pele (“Pele’s hair,” “Pele’s tears,” “Pele’s algae”). In 1868, an interesting incident occurred in Hawaii. The Mauna Loa volcano began to erupt, and King Kamehameha V came up with an interesting way to pacify it. As offerings to Pele, he threw diamonds, luxurious dresses and other VALUABLES into the volcano to appease the goddess. Hawaiians warn tourists against collecting solidified lava as a souvenir. Many tourists send the lava back to Hawaii because they believe it only brought them bad luck. Well, that is, we have a volcanic deity who receives valuable things and frozen lava, which returns through the will of the people themselves back to the islands (Sorry for grammatical mistakes, English is not my native language)
I think this is on the money, pun not intended. Jojo has pretty extensive use of Christian and Buddhist theology in its themes, so keeping Hawaiian folklore in mind is definitely a good idea as more chapters come out. Thanks for the info!
i love the way araki have been doing really accentuated lips recently it's very good. i think in general this chapter has been some of araki's best work since SBR.. I like that the story has a clear direction. and story wise it's prolly my 3rd or 4th favourite chapter of the jojolands so far
I'm still waiting for the main plot to kick off. We've yet to see the incident that the narrator referred to about not having enough people. Very interested to see if the rock humans will be a part of this
My theory about the new stand: I think it condenses moisture. Usagi is showing three symptoms currently, hardened dry skin, throwing up a cloudy liquid, and unable to breathe, like as if the moisture is being brought directly to his lungs, where his body is having to throw it up. Something I would like to point out, his stand is shown walking out right before the attack happens, meaning it leaving is what triggered it or the stand user attacked it while it was still inside.
What first came for me when I saw Usagi's rock disease thing was that it was some sort of "drawback" from using the lavarock. Didn't Charmingman say that you wouldn't be able to get rich from the lava rock (in a kinda foreboding way) I think this is what he means. Over using it causes it to attack your body or something
My guess as to the whole rock scales thing on Usagi is most likely a stand (maybe Howler). And I think Charming Man asking if it’s a chronic illness is probably in reference to his own. Since the guy does have a condition that makes his skin feel hard and grainy like sand, so he probably saw the scales and thought “Oh, maybe it’s something like my condition.”
Heres a fun thought. Imagine once the rock skin clears up from Usagi, it reveals a star birthmark. This is just for laughs, but it is in the same spot.
I think this new "disease" is linked to the lava rock. I think because they are attracting something of significantly higher value than what they own, some force is causing a push back, and I think by somehow "returning" the documents he'll be fine. In part 8 there where lots of things relating to an equivalent exchange so I wouldn't be surprised if this is some payback for trying to be the centre of a mechanism that is too large for you to have.
So with the introduction of stealing deeds and land im sad my initial thought of the team going other places exploring might not happen at all. I have a feeling they’re staying in Hawaii
I think Charmingman's insistence on the rock skin being a chronic disease is adding some more ties between him and the rock people, even if he isn't one himself. It reminds me a lot of Holly's condition in the prior part. There's a lot of ways they can take his story and I think he's going to be my favourite of the crew regardless.
there was something I noticed in this chapter the logo of the company Howler was revealed with the h being a wolf howling this immediately reminded me of the band Steppenwolf so I looked at their album covers and "The Hour of the Wolf" shows a wolf howling posed in a way that represents a lowercase h (although the head is posed differently from the logo) and I'm wondering if that's intentional and we'll be getting a Steppenwolf reference, maybe the CEO's stand will be something like Born to be Wild this could also be a massive reach and me looking way too deep into things haha
The Chapter cover variants are a reference to Pink Floyds album cover of Ummagumma. Also there's even more breaking bad references this chapter, a noteable one being "no half measures".
An interesting point I read: we don’t yet know what happens if more than one lava rock is pulling on an object. If this company has their own lava rocks attracting the land, maybe the gang is causing some bad effects by trying to grab the land away.
Usagi's condition looks to me less like he may be a Rock Human and more like he may be suffering some adverse effects of a Rokakaka transfer / Equivalent Exchange. Anything's possible though
araki is trolling the absolute shit out of us with the multiple rock human references, I wouldn't be surprised if rock humans themselves never show up a single time at this rate lol
Something I missed was u talking about Usagi's ability use in this chapter. Before, he'll always ask for someone to ask for an object to then activate his ability, and now Dragona just tells him to use his ability and so he does. Idk if thats something new or I'm just dumb :c
@@ShadowHawk24Real Yeah, I thought about it that way too. But even If The Matte Kudasai Needs someone or not to work its still one of my favorites stands!
THE MATTEKUDASAI only works if someone else makes the wish. Usagi just gives suggestions of what someone could wish for, it has nothing to do with the ability.
Forgot about the seris, now that I'm caught up. I miss jjba🙏 (edit, I think that the rock is bringing the land to them instead of the deed? Since he vomting water or clouds and rocks are appearing, maybe he is becoming apart of the land?)

This movie was very suspenseful despite nothing really happening until the last minute. I was audibly relieved when they made it out of there, which of course got immediately undercut by Usagi projectile vomiting a few seconds later. I hope this won't constitute the first character death, Hot Dog Boy really grew on me.
Hey Hamon Beat, where do you read the chapters from? I was wondering due to my website probably not being the best option due to a virus scare I had reading this chapter.
1. Merly Mei Qi is The Villain of JoJolands change my mind 2. The cats are Charming man's pets and will be allies ( call back to Iggy since this is the third part of the new universe ) 3. Usagi has the rock disease 8.Gappy dies...😢 9.Usagi, Paco, Charming Man die Prove me wrong...😢 👇
It was nice that these last few chapters showed typical cat and mouse game typical for JOJO but its a bout time that JOJOLANDS returned back to its original premise presenting life of organised crime in modern times. With huge emphasis on realism of todays world of crime, which is highly more based on manipulating the law, and staying hidden
I found the idea of usagi simply having an overdose cuz he is a drug addict (as we know from chapter 1)so funny that I have change basically everything about my instagram account to become Usagi having an overdose :)

Wouldn't surprise me if Araki researched this and based the lava rock on it
Really interesting to keep in mind, thanks for commenting! Hope Araki incorporates more Hawaiian folklore into the part, it’s super interesting.

Every time in Jojo someone tries to "don't stand out" it is kinda counter intuitive considering Araki's character design philosophy.

if usagi is a rock human it could be he had something with mangoes in it because back in jojolion rock humans were allergic to mangoes
